Warning to myself and others: play the original release. Unless you can't anymore because Ubisoft removed it, which sucks immensely.

Personally I love Assassin's Creed III itself, but here I will focus on simply comparing the two releases, and why you lose more than you gain with this shabby remaster.

The positive:
- Better graphics _sometimes_
- Map outlines (a minor thing, but it helps with spatial awareness)
- Outfits from most other AC games (anachronistic, but some people like that I suppose)
- Tweaks to homestead trading screen (a very welcome addition, though still minor)
- Better inventory UI (fairly welcome)
- Very minor bug fixes

The negative:
- Worse graphics at other times (visual bugs, too bright, too dark, flickering lights, etc)
- Unstable performance
- Many, many new major and minor bugs, the worst of all is one that increases the music volume every time you enter combat until you go deaf. Ubisoft apparently tried to mitigate this by halving the music volume in the entire game. That alone should tell you all you need to know about this remaster's "quality" and "effort". Outside of sound bugs, there are many visual bugs, AI bugs, animation bugs, typos, etc, which were all fixed in the original release.

In short, the amount of new bugs introduced in this remaster, and the fact that its benefits are few and insufficiently polished make this into the kind of remaster you should avoid. Don't pick this up over the original. Even for free, don't waste your time and play the original. Spare yourself a worse experience.
