Hard to recommend it when the franchise ends on so many unresolved plot points. If it ever gets a sequel, then it'd be worth playing on its way to it, but until then... I'd only recommend it if you absolutely want more Jensen. Its themes of discrimination aren't even treated with the subtlety and realism you'd grow accustomed to in this series.

In any case, it feels like a half-hearted and narratively half-finished sequel to Human Revolution.

Warning to myself and others: play the original release. Unless you can't anymore because Ubisoft removed it, which sucks immensely.

Personally I love Assassin's Creed III itself, but here I will focus on simply comparing the two releases, and why you lose more than you gain with this shabby remaster.

The positive:
- Better graphics _sometimes_
- Map outlines (a minor thing, but it helps with spatial awareness)
- Outfits from most other AC games (anachronistic, but some people like that I suppose)
- Tweaks to homestead trading screen (a very welcome addition, though still minor)
- Better inventory UI (fairly welcome)
- Very minor bug fixes

The negative:
- Worse graphics at other times (visual bugs, too bright, too dark, flickering lights, etc)
- Unstable performance
- Many, many new major and minor bugs, the worst of all is one that increases the music volume every time you enter combat until you go deaf. Ubisoft apparently tried to mitigate this by halving the music volume in the entire game. That alone should tell you all you need to know about this remaster's "quality" and "effort". Outside of sound bugs, there are many visual bugs, AI bugs, animation bugs, typos, etc, which were all fixed in the original release.

In short, the amount of new bugs introduced in this remaster, and the fact that its benefits are few and insufficiently polished make this into the kind of remaster you should avoid. Don't pick this up over the original. Even for free, don't waste your time and play the original. Spare yourself a worse experience.

The only violent video game where you'll be glad to spot a police car.

Reviewers really did this game dirty. Sure it's very buggy and unoptimized, but damn if the writing and visuals don't make up for it.

As a long time fan of Syberia, I started playing them 20 years ago which means I'm a billion years old or something, and honestly, having only playing 3 for the first time now, I think it's better than 2, but not as perfect as 1. 2's mistake was to stray far from the themes and values that made the first game so special, that is: nostalgia, the conflict between the old and the new, traditions versus modernity, local cultures versus globalization. And in 3, those cherished themes are at the center of the plot once again, and it's as fantastic as ever.

Syberia 3 is a memorable sequel which is only held down by its bugs, but if you go past that (with a decent PC and a fair bit of luck), you'll find an adventure game that is a worthy successor to the first two games, and that's saying something.

It's a long-winded horror story. Too slow? No, it felt just right for setting the mood and a lasting sense of mystery. It's also appropriately well written and well acted, so there's little I can criticize about the game.

I'm surprised at the reviews that bash the game for not clearly condemning a certain taboo topic. The fact that the game is psychological horror and does not lack for disturbing scenes is enough commentary on the subject, I really didn't need to hear someone come in and say "hey, you know, this thing is very wrong by the way." Yes, thank you, we know. I don't need games hand-holding me narratively.

The game itself is alright, but I need to post a negative review due to the misleading description on the store page.

If you think the game's going to let you do actual investigating or get involved within the town you visit, you're dead wrong. An important thing to know is that this game has no dialogues. Nothing at all, no actors. This severely limits the possibilities the narrative can offer. But the store's description saying "you will make decisions" is a straight-up lie. The biggest decision you make in this game is whether you sip your coffee on-screen or off-screen. You do not decide anyone's fate, let alone your own. It's a straight railroad from beginning to end.

In a vacuum, the description would be alright because you play this character and she makes her own decisions. But then don't say "YOU make decisions" because I sure didn't. Figure of speech, sure, but undeniably misleading nonetheless.

The game is still great, but it's a poor remaster.

- No noticeable visual improvements (off to a good start), many low-detail textures and models are regularly visible
- Only cutscenes seen in the Remaster's trailer were remastered (meaning: misleading advertising), the rest still have low bitrate and faded colors
- No new features or improvements that I could notice
- I experienced many crashes during loading times
- Some settings always reset on exiting the game (whether it crashes or not)
- The biggest change I saw was removing the Ghostbuster's Cadillac's logo for copyright reasons, which sucks.

Even for a minimal price, it's hard to recommend the remaster over the original. The biggest thing you're essentially paying for is having a few pre-rendered cutscenes remastered. And just a few.

What jolly fun it has been to experience... nay, to savour such an eloquent piece of video-ludical mastery! Oh by Jove, how time flew me by as I smiled and laughed at every graceful exclamation of the ruggedly handsome protagonist!

Haha, truly only the most refined of my fellow gaming afficionados (mayhaps you, dear reader, perchance?) may comprehend this lyrical masterpiece to its fullest utterness!

I bid you good evening.

Or, as Sir Marcinko would put it, "******* ***** of ************ ****, go **** on my ****, ******!" Ha-haha!

It's not perfect (yet), but this is a great tool for many fans and modders. It's simple of use, development seems steady, has good features and tweaking. This could be the start of something big.

I only hope the dev(s) don't start getting threatened because a voice actor didn't like the use of their voice in this. I make backups every week just in case that ever happens!

NB: it's not clearly stated but you can download all the voices for free on the project's Patreon public page, no need to even make an account. I also hope this laudable accessibility doesn't change for the worse at some point.

They've been lazy but I have to admit they've finally done a good amount of work to improve and expand the game lately. It was worth its price before and it's worth it even more now.
