good game

Above is my review at 77 hours, I'm writing this now at 500.

I've just completed another playthrough, this time with two of my friends, one after I bought him a copy of this game as a gift.

I could sit here for an hour or three and write an essay to tell you about how amazing this game is and why. But there are thousands of reviews here and videos online that you could find that would do it better.

Instead I'll just say that this game is beautiful. I love this game, really I cherish it. Every piece of it I am obsessed with.
-I love the characters, they're so well written, I know them so well and I love interacting with them. Their designs from concept art to ingame animations. I find it all charming from the beautiful art to the goofy animations. Their stories, I find myself incredibly invested in them and emotionally attached. I love reading what other people have to say about the characters online as well, who deserves what or why someone did that.
-I love the voice acting, they did amazing and they add so much emotion and depth to these characters that I've become fans of some of them outside of this game and followed them to other games.
-I love the world, I've spent time outside of this game reading the wiki, reading and participating in discussions about lore, or even reading the books in the game.
-I love the writing, the story is so immersive, characters have so much more to them than meets the eye. I look again and find more context whenever I play again, or entirely new things in corners I hadn't looked in before.
-I love love love the sound design and direction. The main theme was one of my top streamed songs on Spotify last year. I've listened to the Symphony of Sin (symphony orchestra) recorded performance several times all the way through. The muffled sound effects and music that play during the final battle still wets my eyes.
-I love the gameplay! There are so many different ways to play this game that I keep coming back, it's one thing to explore the story in a new way, but really the replayability comes from being able to do something wildly different in the next playthrough.
-I love the modding community ! Whatever complaints I could have about this game, the modding community pulls through with minor fixes, custom classes, added features or tools. To make this great game into an amazing game.

There's probably so much more that I'll think of and might add here if I take the time.

But really, when I was sitting there, after the most recent and incredibly long "speed-run" of the game with friends. After so many nonstop hours pushing us to be burnt out and we complain to each other, "There's just so much we want it to be over!"
The final confrontation happens, we argue over divinity and then combat starts, and the sound filter comes on, and the music begins to play. And my eyes get embarrassingly wet, and I have to play it off over the call with friends so they don't know I'm literally crying because of some sound. And they're waiting for me to take my turn. I realise then that I just love this game so much. Even with how tired I am, "Fort Joy simulator" this or "Batch of rotten eggs" that. When the epilogue plays and credits roll, that feeling of accomplishment and gratitude just makes it so worth it. And I just sit back and think about the game I just played, and the story that was told, or put together really, and it's just such an amazing experience.

And then the main menu hits and the theme plays and now I'm already thinking of what class I'll play and who I'll romance in my next campaign.

P.S. I don't care what ANYONE says, this is the #1 epic, open/branching, fantasy RPG video game. As much as I love or respect Skyrim, Pillars of Eternity, Dragon Age, etc. they hold no candle to Divinity OS 2.
