Feels like a fine remake of MoO2. It really is more MoO2 with some fixes and better ideas - I don't like the tech tree idea, but the way you research a technology where it gives options but usually has a core benefit is a small but really helpful change. Visuals are nice, voice acting is fine, it does feel like they loved MoO2 as well.

Really cool visuals, great ambiance, great sense of scale and sense of the setting but just... Not fun. The combat design feels like someone vaguely explained modern Doom to the designer who then made a complete mess.

is hrot, yes. very hrot experience. understand what it means to hrot.

edit: is very hrot that steam awards does not detect review done during nomination and instead creates further bureaucratic mismanagement.

This game is good, with beautiful interlocking systems, and the light / corruption / dark stuff is really well thought out. But on the other hand it also feels like a lot of the stuff wasn't properly tested. Some of the curses are super interesting, most spice a run up and don't feel overwhelming - or might even twist into a benefit - but a couple will just ruin how you're playing a run, completely destroying any joy in progressing.

Visually very nice, audio is great, combat has a deliberate pace that does take a bit to get used to but feels super rewarding. Itemization and weapon design is bad. Like really bad. The economic stuff is great.

While I'd recommend this I'd get it on sale, which I did, so great stuff. I just got tired of the unlock system and runs just getting completely punted on a curse that negates what I'm itemizing around. So I got bored and uninstalled.

The music is great and the platforming feels good, game is almost entirely a smooth experience. but the fact the bow feels obtuse to use yet is a core mechanic of the game just adds up to a dismal experience over time. A lot of fights really punish you for trying to be melee focused. The potion mechanic feels kinda half-assed. Some of the monster design is really off, and the fact you feel punished for seeking out combat is a bad design choice as well.

Just get RoR or Dead Cells or Rogue Legacy. They're all a similar, but better, experience.

The walk cycle is this aggressively rubber bootie flippty flop, like he wore cute lil rain boots and is splashing around after jumping in puddles. Or bluddles.

Game is completely fine. You can play it. I turned down the music.

Though kinda empty, I really do like the level geometry.

Lmao spend an hour figuring out how to get this OLD VERS running which may or may not have required installing the bilinear filter removal mode or deleting a DLL or changing settings or finally rolling back my Adrenalin drivers to the may 2022 (!?) release which got it working

Got a card drop and realized it drops cards you can't finish the badges of because it's OLD VERS and steam just makes them worthless immediately
oh well time to make a butz

Pretty solid retro shooter
Weapons are stand out great, enemy variety is fun, level design plays with the "wolfenstein 2.5" that people ascribe to it. It's more Wolf than Doom, but it uses a lot more tricks and ideas than you'd expect. You can do a lot of stuff you wouldn't expect to be able to do.
Visually quite pleasant.
Music is... Sometimes very bad. Bosses are all uniformly not great but a small part of the game.

I've played through much of Duke3D recently and this game has basically none of the charm or smoothness to its level design. This is simply boring.

Lovely single player game they slapped anti-cheat onto for multiplayer I don't play. I'll change this review back to positive when they fix that. And I doubt this came from id.
I got my sixty hours of fun so I'm not upset, just disappointed.
