Cool concept and I am looking forward to seeing it complete.
Still, most of the game mechanics seem ♥♥♥♥♥♥ weird. The game doesn't bother explaining things much, and when it does, it feels like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ because nothing works as described.

FromSoftware really wants to be more like Ubisoft with this one (very cinematic, but lacks any form of interesting gameplay). It feels more like a fan mod rather than a dlc, let alone an "upgrade" as they call it.

I love it, it's an amazing game. Too bad it never got a sequel, no no, never, Dungeons 4 does not exist and i need my pills again.

I hate this. 0/5

edit:

I finally brought myself to write down cohesive report on the horrors i had witnessed, for this game contains the worst of terrors, BAD GAME DESIGN. I could not look, nor could i look away, everything in this game has devolved, it now butchered, twisted, an abomination. If i may make a recommendation, quit this game's page right here and check out Dungeons 3. It is much better game with more mechanics, missions, units, enemies and story. It is a great game that deserves recognition and please forget that Dungeons 4 ever existed. But if it is too late or you do not intend to heed my warnings, go ahead, continue reading.

Factions (to avoid)
Since you no longer need any non-snot creature to do any form of labor or utility you are forced to spam the hell out of one creature faction so for all review purposes i judge the game like there is only one faction since you will not interact with more of them anyway.
Horde - Everyone dies, instantly, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ useles, their resurection takes extra research that you could be spending elswhere.
Demons - I don't care what the game says, they never respawn, it takes forever to get only half of your army back even if you transformed entire dungeon into a set of demon portals. Also no melee units, bloody abysmal!
undead - Those are here only to cause economic crisis once you buy more than one of their units. Not like they would be more powerful or anything. They are actually really weak and boring as they do not offer any active way you can aid them (neither potions nor spells).
Why all unique about the factions got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ removed?

Snots
Their ai seems even worse then in previous game, but i suppose that they are supposed to be dumb and sabotage you every time they can for "story reasons".

Traps
This really has no excuse, as all they had to do is copy what they already had, but they decided not to bother, so there is like 1/3 of traps Dungeons 3 had.

There is much more that i plan to complain about later, but i need to regather my strength before continuing this therapy session.

If you think you've got the balls to play this game, remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

Since most people are well informed about success of this game, i would prefer to talk about it's wrongs. Moments that makes me thing about if I'm not wasting my time here, if it would not have been beter to stick to my favourite games and rather getting myself meth addiction than paying 60 Euro for open-world dlc for Dark Souls 1.

DENIAL OF INOVATIONS
Combat in this game is quite alright for a game from 2006. After implementing fun and quite inovative combat choices into side games like Bloodborne or Sekiro fromsoftware took break and copied combat from Dark Souls 1. It actually seems like they copied entire engine, attacks are slow and clunky. Entire combat is reduce to spamming dodge and light attack. I really felt through the entire game like there is something wrong with hitboxes, animations, camera angles and controlling, i felt like i am playing some game from ancient times that barely knows how to work properly. When it comes to backstab or critical hitt the awkward position detection comes to place and rarely works as it should.

WAYS TO NOT PLAY
I have not yet seen game so unfriendly to build variaty and weapons that game itself offers. In game where you can wield ton of swords, shields, spears, bows, crossbows, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cannon, magick staffs and sacred seals there are like 5 weapons (swords) that are worth using, with both hands or power-stance. This rises a question why does the game have so much weapons if none of them are good for anything. If you are looking for game that offers multiple playstiles and customization you will be disaponted.

want to play paladin - Too bad, 90% of bosses have 40 up to 80% holy damage resistance (two final bosses literaly take only 20% of damage done while first two takes only 60%).
want to play mage - Too bad, spell scaling is horrible, it feels like some chalange run to even try sorceries (except for one spell).
archer? - Those builds never were vailable, you literally have to spent your xp to even buy some amunition, leaving you underleveled.
tank? - You literally can be invincible any time you chose, why would you try to survive getting hit while you can click dodge button (hp scales badly btw).
fighter? - If you mean spaming dodge, attack once and spam dodge again then yes. You can do that.

CONTROL OUT OF CONTROL
Buy controller first btw, game is unplayable without controller. Not that it would be hard to code normal keaboard keybinding options, they just didn't do it.
Big part in this takes awkward camera handling that is with it's horiblenes comparable only to camera handling in Resident evil 6, and you can't adjust it. Lock-on system is just an abomination, it will ♥♥♥♥ you over so often by casualy swaping betwine enemies mid fight regardles of their distance.

BOSSES OF QUICK TIME EVENTS
I was soon overcomed with feeling that they all are just sets of quick time events based about rolling when specific animation trigers specific neuron reaction in your brain, feels kinda cheap and boring after the second boss. Only changes the bosses recived through the game was adding more phases, so you can study more movesets as your homework.
One unforgivable thing is adding giant bosses into game where your camera distance never changes or moves, those bosses don't even have working lock-on points and still there is so many of them.

PvP (NOT REALY)
Invading other players doesn't work, there just isn't anyone to invade. Game has entire sidequest about invading other players but you can't do so.
So it turned out that there is other way to finish the quest, even without invading other players. The game doesn't tell you that, it never does.

QUANTITY OVER QUALITY
At last i would like to talk about game quality as itself. Game is huge, with huge map and long playtime and by the time you reach endgame one probably notices the quality decrease. New locations use the same enemies as previous one and sometimes you even find bosses you fight twice before (including main bosses). i would expect something like this from some MMO RPG from 2012 but not AAA title of this era. Lategame areas are small and empty compared to first ones and i wouldn't ming the game ending with half it's playtime.
