Early Access Review
Like: Infinitely replayable. Extremely satisfying. Incredibly rewarding. It is impossible to ignore the massive dopamine hit you get when you finally come up with working solutions to the game's challenges of supply and demand. Even once you have the solution, you will still go back and continually try to optimize and expand. In a way, it's like solving puzzles and challenges that you only created for yourself - sometimes without even realizing it. It's brilliant.

A technical achievement in game design. There is a ton of stuff going on in this game, but it's remarkably well optimized, stable, and you can get the full gameplay experience on modest hardware. Sure, insanely large megabases could put a strain on even a decent PC hardware configurations, but those large scale designs aren't absolutely necessary to enjoy the game. In fact, I feel like the early game's challenges are interesting enough to hold their own and have no problems creating new games after successfully launching a single rocket.

The developers are in a league of their own. Their commitment to the game and it's community is exemplary. Their transparency on topics of design, decision making, and technical execution is second to none. Just read the Friday Facts. Wube is composed of many wonderful, smart people and they raise the bar on game development.

Dislike: This is going to sound cliche, but... I have very nearly stopped playing any other games and this sometimes is a genuine problem because I enjoy a wide range of games throughout many genres. I have a legitimate addiction and will often find myself enjoying other games and activities less because I continually think of projects and ideas I would rather be tackling in Factorio.

Update 11/28/2024: This game is just incredible. Still after all these years, I can't think of another game that I've appreciated more than Factorio. Now the expansion has just taken a game with literal infinite replayability and made it even more dynamic and addictive.
