My power went out 2 hours into the game and I immediately ran out barefoot in the heavy rain to check the breakers but realized the lights were out in the whole neighborhood. It was probably for the best, because the game is already so good I'd probably stay up all night playing it and I have to be up early in the morning.

I already know I'll recommend this sequel - it has had me on the edge of my seat every second so far.

- The writing, absolutely incredible.
- Voice acting, fantastic.
- Graphics and audio fidelity, beautiful. I play the game on a 57" Samsung Odyssey ultra wide, and it's noticeably less distorted along the sides of the display when compared to the original. Few games cater to ultra wide displays so that was a pleasant surprise to see.
- Cutscenes, some of the best I've ever seen in a game
- UI, huge improvement over the first, while remaining true to itself.
- Gameplay, like the original but so much more refined.
- Optimization, I don't know how they make it look so incredible without being a stuttery mess. Such a breath of fresh air compared to billion dollar studios pumping out games that both look and perform far worse.

However much I enjoyed the original, the sequel is such an improvement in every single way, I would actually recommend most people to simply watch a backstory video on YouTube, maybe even someone else's playthrough while doing other work, and then jump straight into the sequel. But if you have time and really want to feel a stronger connection to the lore, playing the original before the sequel would be strongly recommended as well. If you already played the original, do yourself a favor and avoid reading more reviews or watching game play, the less of it you spoil for yourself the better, just play it already!

This sequel is worth every penny at full price. I can't wait to sink 100+ more hours into it. If I change my mind about any of the above after completing the game, I'll update the review.

Early Access Review
Launch day of ARK had beaches reminiscent of D day. Took advantage of the situation and got some sweet noob loot <3

10/10 would scavenge again.

I LOVE IT! The city of Paris is alive, massive, and a ton of fun to explore. The combat is better than any other Assassin's Creed game I have played before. The storyline, along with its integrated cutscenes and surreal-type missions, is simply amazing.

Those who call this a bad pc port with poor optimization really don't know all that much what they are talking about. By that, I am not saying that their statements regarding bad performance are false, simply that it isn't because of any poor optimization. The world is HUGE and there are things going on EVERYWHERE. To get something at this scale to run at graphics similar to that of smaller scale games (e.g. Crysis), you are going to need a very powerful pc.

I am playing this on a 780ti at 1440p and have everything set to ultra, aside from high shadow (PCSS kills framerate), and FXAA for anti aliasing as even MSAAx2 for some reason seems to cut my fps in half.

If you are experiencing performance issues in AC:U, please just fiddle around with the graphics settings before giving up on it. Start from the bottom and increase step by step, and look for what affects fps the most on your GPU. For me, texture quality surprisingly enough has less of a performance impact than AA.

I really wish the game would perform better, but I understand why it isn't and I am completely fine with it.

Also, I strongly recommend playing this on an xbox controller if you're not already doing so. Generally, you notice low framerate through a mouse due to input lag :)
