When I was younger, maybe around 13, I lived on a small farm in the middle of nowhere. I really like it there; my sister and I had a lot of space to run around and play. We also had horses, sometimes as many as nine. My sister loved them, but I did not, because I had to help feed them.

But I digress. I remember a lot of strange things that happened at and around that house. Perhaps the most terrifying was this one night when I was sleeping without my shirt on. Y'know, because that was a thug thing for a kid to do, apparently. Anyways, I was rather restless, spending a lot of time looking up into the darkness, toward my ceiling. I felt a very uncanny presence, though: a chill through my body, a lump in my stomach. I turned to look toward the other side of my room, and that's when I saw her. A woman, glowing, looking to be an adult, with blond hair and flatly colored clothes. I think her shirt was red, and her pants were blue. Oh, and she had no face. Like, at all.

It reminded me of a nightmare I had as a kid. My father had shown me a picture (which I assume was CG) back when I was around four years old of some old man without a face. He told me that's what happens to people who smoke cigarettes and pick their noses. Of course it terrified me as a kid. And of course, so did this apparition of sorts.

I quickly covered myself with my blankets in terror, my ears ringing. As I did, I felt a tingling numbness all across my back, and I couldn't help but picture her pouring spiders onto my body. That's how it felt.

When I eventually gathered the bravery to look back, she was gone. It was just an illusion. The tingling had just been from me being without a shirt. But needless to say, I wore a shirt to bed for years after.

Team Fortress 2 is the fantastic shooter that spurred the class-based FPS phenomenon. Its community is still strong and wonderful.
