Great little game to try in co-op! Can be 100%ed in 1/2h. For the price asked, it's definitely worth the entertainment.

Inspired by, and an evolution of, Viscera Cleanup Detail.

100%ed in 16h playing casually, it was a very fun experience.

Would recommend it as a chill game to play while watching something.

Dedicated developers and a a great survival crafting experience.

Many of the criticisms that people have of the game are true - but if you have a powerful enough machine and are okay with playing a still-expanding game, I would very much recommend it.

As of writing this the developers have done 100 weekly updates with not a single week missed. While I'm not a fan of live service kind of games - this is as good as it gets.

A really fun short adventure game. Slightly buggy at times, and the movement is a bit imprecise, but it's worth buying on sale. I clocked in 6hrs of game time to 100%.

I write this with 65h of game time and having just 100%ed the game. I've definitely given this game more than a chance. I know my review is negative - but I have a good reason for this. I don't dislike the game, and I enjoyed playing it, but I would not recommend anyone picks up the game and plays it for themselves.

If I were to paint a picture to describe this game, it would show a beaten and bloodied corpse of a beautiful person, displayed proudly in an extravagant ensemble with flowers and neon lights.

This game has a soul, and a really good and engaging story. But this great story has been ripped into pieces and scattered across a barren, broken wasteland.

To describe the game play (that is, RPG mechanics, combat, and exploration) as alpha would be entirely too generous. The game is so ridiculously broken and unpolished that its mechanics only sometimes decide to kick in. The NPCs only spot you if the engine decides to come to work that day - and even then, it might just decide that a light breeze has gained the power to teleport said NPCs in another part of the building, rendering the encounter moot. The most fun thing to do in this game, game play wise, is to try to figure out what exactly caused the game to break so spectacularly at a given point. At first it's endearing but it quickly becomes sad.

This game had no business to be an open-world RPG and playing the game it very clearly feels like many mechanics were added to the game way past its design stage (often with tape when the welder broke down). Now I'm not saying it's the publisher's fault - but I am saying that the game becomes significantly more broken halfway through Act 1, and Compulsion DID bring Gearbox in halfway through development. Gearbox of course has a pristine reputation and would never do anything to negatively affect the development of a game.

It's possible to find Compulsion Games' Steam account. At the time of writing this, on their account they don't even acknowledge the existence of We Happy Few, and only advertise Contrast. Strange, isn't it.

The DLCs feel significantly better in terms of quality. Even while the world is invaded by alien robots, the game still manages to tell a good story that has at its heart a mature depiction of a gay relationship. They really could have gone the over-the-top route and they didn't. Even in terms of gameplay, the lack of an open world means the play space gets significantly more polish and the experience overall is much better.

To conclude, as someone who has played, and enjoyed, We Happy Few, I wholeheartedly recommend you do not buy this game and instead watch a retrospective/analysis video on YouTube. The setting and story are really good - the execution is honestly not worth the time investment. I picked up Contrast, a game Compulsion seems to be prouder of, simply because of the potential this dev is showing in their story.

I don't tend to be that negative in my reviews, but this truly is an insult to the original title.

A great follow-up to the original Supraland - It has a good 12h of content to get 100% - definitely worth the purchase if you enjoyed the original.
