This game destroys me everytime I finish it.

Fed Ex Extreme with a mix of hunting ghosts, if that's your thing. Fantastic game.

The aesthetics of the game are spot on for a 40k game, but the original felt better in every single way. The combat (At Veteran Difficulty) for 2 is just clunky and airy, as if your hits mean nothing. Stunning warriors is a massive pain in the ass, blocking seemingly is a dice roll, and dodging usually means you are just dodging into something else's swing. Melee only brings you into the range of every single termagaunt in existence while letting the hormagaunts pepper at you with impunity, and ammo is really weirdly limited. The staple weapon of the space marine is the bolter, why the ever loving ♥♥♥♥ is ammo so scarce?

Could this feel be me needing to get good? Sure. But I already learned very similar mechanics from Space Marine 1 and have experienced similar mechanics from a variety of other games. This isn't special. It's just frustrating.

Edit: I went and got good. The curve was higher than I expected. I still find the audio effects from the original game to be superior when it comes to specific weapons, such as the bolter, but it's a solid sequal. Man I am literally just a ♥♥♥♥♥.

I have changed my mind yet again. I do not wish to recommend this title unless you 1) Have friends to play with as the AI is trash, 2) enjoy 40k because otherwise it's just silly and campy, thought that may appeal to a lot of folks, and 3) Can wait for a sale.

Even after getting used to the combat system and playing with friends, it still feels like it's trying to be a live service and has a lot of grind to unlock upgrades. The writing behind the campaign was eh at best, though the scenes were fantastic. The team behind the environments did a stellar job. You want a fun 40k game? Go grab Boltgun. You want a good 40k coop experience? Play Darktide (ESPECIALLY once the new itemization drops).

Malevon Creek was simply to test our resolve. The real Helldive was Sony themselves. We have prevailed. FOR SUPER EARTH!!!

I dunno what dingus decided this game was a roguelike, but it's not. It's a top down RPG with base building mechanics and an overworld with territory to capture. There's literally not a singular roguelike mechanic.

That said, having played through the entire story campaign on normal... It's an okay game. Worth their asking cost, but HO BOY is it grindy for your main protagonist. My advice? Get those replication nodes...

The story is middling, not horribly engaging but it's tolerable. The characters aren't specifically deep, and the main plot point is the only thing remotely interesting.

Also void crystals are literally just tiberium.

Get kidnapped by an anomaly. Get taken pity on by an anomaly. Dodge anomalies trying to steal your best anomaly while driving your anomaly.

It's got charm and the car is easy to get attached too. I wish my Malibu said hi to me with a little 8-bit display everytime I got into it.

Also the game autosaves at every junction. People who say it doesn't are lying or too dumb to have realised this was a feature since launch. Humans really don't read thoroughly anymore.

Starbound is the gifted child that was always told that it would do good in whatever it tried to do. So it tried to do a lot of things, and it did some of those things really well, but then it started to not do those things very well as it's confidence slipped. You see, because everyone kept saying it could do anything, it never tried too hard to be good at any one thing, and it never really focused on it's basics, so when it graduated from video game high school, it got into hard drugs and ruined the rest of it's life.

Early Access Review
Got my neck snapped mid-sentence while pondering whether to take a core or not. Would ponder with my back to a door again.

A middling difficulty but beautifully rendered FPS boomer shooter in the 40k universe. I loved it, though at times it can be a bit too easy, and the lack of a map makes me whine a little. Play on exterminatus or yer a coward.

Get to shoot Nazis, always a positive. The weapons feel grand, and although the game is linear, each section doesn't feel too long or too short.

The cutest darkest combat oriented version of Stardew Valley on the market. I'm still nearing the mid-way, I think, but so far I'm incredibly pleased. Managing my cult while going off to fish/crusade/harvest replenishing resources is.... engrossing! And who DOESNT want to be a vessel for an eldritch god?!
