I got the Definitive Edition of Sleeping Dogs as part of a game bundle. I remembered having a blast with the original version when I was younger, so I was excited to dive back in and relive that experience. What I found, though, was a mix of both the fun I remembered and some aspects that fell short.

Let's start with the positives. The game is fun, and the story is just as engaging as I remembered. I had a great time playing through it and finished the story in about 15 hours. It's not particularly long, but that helps keep it from becoming too repetitive. The DLCs were new to me and added some extra fun, though they didn't significantly change the overall experience.

Now, for the downsides. The game can be frustrating at times, mainly due to its bugs. I encountered several critical errors that forced me to retry missions—enemies randomly flying away, cars exploding for no reason, terrible AI pathfinding that caused cars to get stuck or kill pedestrians, and even multiple game crashes. The game's age also shows in some of its design choices, which feel outdated compared to more recent titles. The freerunning mechanic, for example, can be fun but is often finicky. You need to approach walls at just the right angle, or you'll end up running into them instead of jumping over. Plus, many walls that look climbable aren't, forcing you to take detours to reach your destination.

If you're a completionist like me, the game isn't too difficult to 100%. It took me about 40 hours to earn all the achievements and complete the DLCs, though one of the achievements was particularly time-consuming due to a bug. The most grindy part was the Nightmare in North Point DLC, which took around 10 hours to finish (5-6 hours for challenge achievement grinding and another 5-6 hours for the main story and other achievements). That was quite a hassle.

Overall, I had a good time with Sleeping Dogs, but I wouldn't recommend paying full price for it due to the bugs and glitches. I'd say it's worth around $10-$15. At that price, it’s a solid deal.

The story of this game is beautiful, but the tactics of the game are challenging.
I saw that this game was nominated for the 'Outstanding Story-Rich Game' category in the steam awards 2023. I can wholeheartedly say that this is completely justified.

I would wait with buying this game. The game is a mess. Not worth full price.

Don't buy this game. Buy Forza. It's way better.

The rubber-banding is extreme and extremly annoying.
The driving is too arcady for my taste.

The game is great to play, but the bugs, glitches and random crashes ruin the experience at this moment. Hopefully codemasters will fix the issues in the near future. Then I would really recommend this game.

Pretty good game. Feels a bit like Civilization, only there are turn based strategical batlles in here.

It's a good game. A little bit like a simplistic version of D&D.
