So I tried this some years ago, tried it, couldn't get it to work on my then very terrible PC, and recently decided to give it another go.

The combat is very janky, but it's passable, and I would have put up with it for the story, as I'm chronically unable to end even bad stories as I want to complete them so that I can put them to bed forever. If you, unlike me, can get past my issues, this might be a fun game for you, if you really have nothing else to play in the genre, or are on a budget and pick this up on sale for like a dollar. It's quality is certainly reflected by it's current price, though personally, I wouldn't have paid more for it than you would get it for on sale, and I morn the money I wasted in the past on this.


Back to my personal experience however... Much like my experience with Avatar: The Last Airbender (the movie by M. Night Shyamalan), I couldn't even get into the story because the acting was so terrible, and the dialogue was written at the level I would expect from a middle schooler. That's not me being insulting either. The language doesn't fit at all the aesthetic that I'm expecting from a medieval fantasy setting, nor do the characters sound like actual people or adults.

The level of thought and care that went into the writing is abysmal, and so unforgivably terrible that I couldn't push past it to continue the game. Completely took me out of it as I literally could not suspend my disbelief.

I'm sure the story is interesting, but the vehicle for that is the characters, and if you don't write them or the dialogue well, then you can have the greatest story in the world, and it isn't worth the paper or bits it takes up. Bound by Flame suffers greatly from that, as the writing is overly dramatic, and over the top, and not indicative of the world or the setting whatsoever, which ironically could have been remedied by simply reading some better writers, and copying their style if nothing else.

I give this a hard pass, but perhaps you might find enough value in it to have some fun.

A lot of fun. Best stealth game I've ever played. Solid mechanics, and excellent story. Easy to pick up, and is adaptable to the player's play-style. The aesthetics and graphics are also good, really helping the immersion experience.
