This game is really good but if you have to play only one version of RE4 I would still recommend the original. This game adds more mechanics to make it more like the recent RE games (specifically those of RE7 and RE2make) with primarily ammo crafting, the knife durability from RE2 (You can repair it and have multiple) along with it's own unique mechanics in the form of knife-parrying and stealth, which makes it different from the original, and it is a phenomenal game. However the best experience for RE4 will always be the original RE4, but for a remake it offers up that experience with a lot of new elements that make what it is presenting it's own.
