Probably one of the most satisfying game I've ever played. Never come across one that was as lore-rich, or gave me as much of a sense of agency in shaping the game's world. It's a huge power-fantasy since you're an almighty rogue trader, counterbalanced by the fact that your decisions don't always work out the way you expect; but never in a way that made me feel cheated, it always felt consistent with 40k's logic. It's a very long game, so if you take a break halfway, resist the urge to re-start and just pick up your last save and embrace the consequences of your choices.

if you're interested in Warhammer 40k's lore then it's absolutely worth it. Especially the writing and music is absolutely without parallel. I say: treat yourself to this game!

The amount of possibilities with the components and commands available is nigh-limitless. The developer has also kept supporting it for a very long time now. On top of that, there's mod-support. What more do you want?

Haven't been addicted to a game like this in quite some time. The "just-one-more-raid" compulsion is strong. Completed both campaigns in one week.

Don't let the negative reviews in February 2018 throw you off, the game wasn't abandoned or anything. Quite the opposite!

A bunch of game mechanics that were in since launch, turned out to be design flaws that could in no way be worked around. So a bunch of things were changed, the game is a lot better for it, but some people are resistant to change. Meanwhile those who enjoy the changes are too busy playing to write reviews.

If you are a space 4X veteran, or someone just dipping their toes in, get this one because you won't regret it. Promise.

Not convinced? Watch a youtube let's play of someone playing Stellaris: Apocalypse!

This game is destined to become the next OpenTTD. I highly recommend it. The developer has worked on it for 8 years, and thought it's not feature-complete, it's already a lot of fun to play (*if* you like Early Access games). The dev is great wrt community interaction, and there is a discord community where people talk about the game and report bugs. Keep your eye on this one, it's a real pearl in the making!

A worthy successor to Wargame! The scale is a bit more intimate, and you'll have to adjust to warfare being different in this era, but if you stick with it you'll find that it has everything we loved about Wargame.

The amount of love poured into this game by the hard-working devs really shows in the product, unfinished as it still might be. When this game's full developed it'll be a true gem, but I already find it a very enjoyable game with enough to do to keep you entertained for many hours!

When evaluating this game, one must bear in mind that it has been made by one person. With this in mind, I have found this game to be very, very impressive. It feels like any 4X made by larger studios, and in some ways surpasses them. It only launched recently so there are still some bugfixing and balancing to do, but it's perfectly playable and the hours will fly by while you play this game

You will like this game if you prefer 4X games with more of a focus on combat and ship-design. It's ship designing feature will have you endlessly tinkering with your designs, and the combat is very satisfying with explosion sounds and gfx providing you a suitable reward for your aforementioned tinkering. If you mainly want a diplomacy/empire-building 4X, this game still is perfectly fine but you might get more satisfaction from other games.

Finally, beware that the game can be a bit challenging. Balancing of things is still on-going and I'm sure countless mods will spawn to help out with that, but the game will have you sweat a good bit and the AI can be quite aggressive if it notices vulnerability. The space combat AI seems, in comparison what other games of the genre have done so far, actually fairly good. The Diplomacy AI needs a bit of fine-tuning still, but it's already decent in it's 1.0 state.

I recommend this game.

I. Love. This. Game!

The price at release might seem a bit steep, but if you're a 40k fan then it's probably worth it. I found they captured the 40k atmosphere well, the unit diversity is quite frankly incredible, and there's sufficient strategic depth to keep the strategy game fans among us interested. If you're crazy about 40k and strategy games, get it. If not, you could wait for a sale I guess.

For the Emprah!
