After almost 50 hours, I have played through the main story, two DLCs, done all the side quests and got all the achievements, but I still have no idea what the hell is going on in this game. However, the journey was still amazing, and I think Remedy has accomplished something special.

You play as Jesse Faden who arrives at the Oldest House aka the global headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC). You were led there by mysterious being, Polaris, while looking for your brother, Dylan, who disappeared in mysterious circumstances. You are quickly appointed as the director of the FBC and discover that the Oldest House is under attack by interdimensional beings called the “Hiss”. You discover that only you can beat the invaders using supernatural abilities and your loyal Service Weapon you inherited from the lifeless body of the previous director.

The setting itself is enough to intrigue me to play the game which looks fantastic. The graphics are amazing and a game that one can fully enjoy using ray tracing provided you have the necessary hardware. The NVIDIA DLSS works wonders making the game feel smooth and beautiful at the same time and I just cannot get enough of the architecture of the Oldest House. The game has one of the most beautiful destructive environmental designs out there. Literally, any scene in the game could be a wallpaper and Remedy has included a photomode for you to do that if you wanted to.

Using your supernatural abilities, you can take down the “Hiss” and it never gets old to grab a forklift and shoving that to your enemies’ face which are tough and varied although, the AI could be tweaked a bit. The combat is super fun and consists of shooting your multimode service weapon and using your wide variety supernatural abilities. Enemies also drop loot which you use to upgrade your abilities and guns. The different guns and abilities allow you to try and experience different ways to play the game.

The story, combat and exploration are the best aspects of Control which holds you tightly until the end and leaves you wanting for more. An excellent game and one of the best and weirdest gaming experiences I have had this year.
