CS:GO Review
If you plan on purchasing this game, know something before you invest too much time into it - the ranking system is absolute garbage and has a very loose basis on actual skill level. With that in mind, this game will give you mixed feelings no matter how well you play. Hackers are not a rare sight at all in wingman (2v2), though they seem to be less plentiful in competitive (5v5). However, if you have a friend who can carry their own weight and a positive mindset, this game is still enjoyable in 2018.
I personally play this as the only competitive shooter in my library and it works for me. I don't really play it when I want to have fun; it's more of a way for me to pit myself against a rival team who has a solid chance of defeating me. I like spending time playing a game that I'm not guaranteed to win, even if it's at the expense of my immediate anger and a possible 30 minute ban. Hackers are just another part of the game at this point - if you're paired up against one, the best thing you can do for yourself is mute them and remember that one loss isn't going to destroy your rank. And if you think that you have to be a tryhard pro who plays at 4:3 aspect ratio and 144Hz, don't. The only thing you'll get for tryharding in this game is a broken monitor and anger issues.
