If seeing a necromancer on the side of the world vs. the End Times makes you piss your pants, you should go read some more of the lore onward through the end times and get over it.

Being a pyromaniac with a pension for necromancy is a dream come true, I LOVE fighting with my skeleton army!

Twists up Sienna and makes her badass in every aspect, we'll be seeing a lot of her in game. Just became an instant favorite character!

If you have recently gotten this game because you weren't satisfied with Starfield, there's a large chance you played that game for the wrong reason. This game is excellent and I'm glad even more people are buying it, but I think it's wrong to call this the better Starfield.

I've been playing this game since it originally launched and have been a pre-order fan even as the entire community was raging about what an awful game it was. Ever since that day this game has done nothing but improve upon the foundations without end, and the recent release of Echos is absolutely nothing but pure bliss for players like myself.

So who is this game actually for? Well, if you're like me what attracts you to this game is Sandbox and Survival, a combo made in heaven for video games. This isn't a brutal survival game (although you can tweak your difficulty settings as well as enable a permadeath feature), it's very relaxed even on harder difficulties given you gauge your risks carefully.

You can build, run a city, pirate from fleets, become a bounty hunter, discover a new robot race, hop through galaxies and chart infinite worlds, creatures, the likes. But in a way, the immense amount of what you can do piles up and goes over a line for me, as I don't know what I should do. The story lines are pretty long and take a while to run through but honestly you can also completely sideline them once you get to the point you can fly around to different systems, effectively acting as a tutorial you can stop following after a certain time (or you can disable this from the start, advised for new games after doing missions at least once.)

The game does a decent job introducing you to new parts of the game too with side quests that pop up trying to get your attention, but whether or not they are worth your attention can be questionable. There is already so much I have to do like upgrade my ship, my suit, find new tech, research base parts, grind resources from all these different systems, raid abandoned freighters, pirate out of necessity and ruin my reputation, or do it for pay, fight aliens, feed aliens start farms and mining operations, run a city, do nexus missions, the list goes on. It can be daunting if you want to do it all but don't want to dedicate the time, so be wary that this game is demanding of it.

The slow periods of this game are exactly just that, and the fast parts seem to come and go very quickly. Trading in systems is also very dull and essentially boils down to warp to system, buy goods, warp to next, sell and rebuy goods, over and over which in itself is not very profitable. On top of this there is no competition or noticeable fluctuations in markets, if I warp to a system with you and buy everything you'll be dandy and able to go and buy all of it too. And once you of course get to a point units don't matter, you're essentially a walking bank with no restrictions. Units paradoxically live in this state of either being too easy or too difficult to grind effectively, which in itself is a consequence for what type of content you engage in, but at the very least late game they are useful for assembling expensive fleets.

It's not the fact there are not options but the realization what you do is basically going to spell out how your progress crawls or leaps forward, it can feel like you are forced into picking a direction and sticking by it even though you could always stop at any time, but until you get it done you won't reap the rewards. And once all is done, I am left with the question of "what now?" Maybe it is because I don't put as much time into the game anymore, but often at the end of each trail I end up wondering if I was having fun or just glad to get the grind over. The first few times it works, but the next several after a few years tends to bog me down.

What I really loved was the change of pace with raiding abandoned freighters, space combat getting revamps, freighters now having huge battles, aliens to shoot down, I love this. I'm a fan of action packed PVE like this I am just sad at how quickly it is done and done while walking over a planet for eight hours for tech to research base parts is still just as boring as it can be. I think maybe some systems like this could use a little change. The formula works but I'd like to be able to progress a little faster when I'm not playing on the hardest settings in the game. Starting a new save always sounds fun, and only feels fun after a few days of non-ending grind.

All this said, my only real complaint is the game is a slow time sink. Otherwise I am in love with this game still, I will absolutely play this a lot going forward and all these new updates sure have diversified the ways to have fun overall. I'd like if we could cut some hours away from the grinds at minimum and maybe have some more constant action going on like a real system at war, or even have some system wide consequences for actions if it were possible.

Building is fun, feels satisfying to fight sentinels and the combat changes are very welcome, and I really adore every single fragment of Echos. I consider No Man's Sky one of the essentials to a Steam Library, there's a little something for everyone to be found in this game.

What is there to say? I just like clicking on cookies.

Do note: leaving this game on the background of other games doubles your effective playtime for the week according to Steam, making it seem like you are bending time itself to play this game which is lore accurate.

I feel like this is some acid dream state like game conjured from the culmination of several unfavorable game designs, whether purposefully or by just accepting them in full as they were with pure heart and passion into one giant mess that is extremely hard to comprehend, but instantaneously easy to enjoy in full faith.

I am struggling to just remember what controls do what, I have struggled with learning the UI and still do, even the tutorial is not easy to abide by and often I am clicking things and discovering things by pure accident, it is almost like I am playing the worst game ever made by pure mechanical design, but the twist is it seems like taking all of these things and executing their combination flawlessly.

Even with the unreal, strange, bizarre, unfitting art all over, it somehow goes against the grain and works flawlessly into being one hell of an awesome shooter with lots of comedy and surreal ♥♥♥♥ mixed in the blender on high.

It is amazing.

As of current I have not passed the tutorial part of the game, but have managed to escape the map bounds into the factory after spending an hour or two trying to progress. I proceeded to ram my body against a chain while attempting to inspect it, which sent me to parts of the map that allowed me to see untextured machinery. Suicide I thought, but no, the healing outpaced any of my attempts at jumping off the strange geometry of the outer map bounds. I may have to restart my save but I was thoroughly entertained

I have sat on this game for a while, but after a friend suggested I stream it I was genuinely impressed. I don't remember acquiring the game, but despite having been released at 2010, it has aged incredibly well. The artstyle and geometry of the game are wonderful and fit the themes the story portrays very well. The monsters, though somewhat easy to predict after experiencing them are still rather good at giving me surprise spooks. The story I found very interesting to listen, read, and theorize on midway, with some of my suspicions confirmed and others entirely flipped on their head, which I admire in any writing.

This is also the very first horror game that has made me genuinely scream in panic, so it is impossible for me to deny this game is well done. I should have played you so long ago.
