Driving feels awesome, the tracks are cool as heck. Definitely a game I can come back to, play this if you're an arcade racer fan. Definitely a game I could find myself leaderboard hunting like Trackmania.

Bought this game for the soundtrack, worth.

Story is so good, music is incredible, art is incredible. Combat and boss design is incredible, platforming is satisfying if a bit simple. The whole game is excellent, probably my favorite Metroidvania if I'm not clouded with nostalgia for SotN. Rare you get a 10/10 metroidvania with a good story, usually story in metroidvanias are something I'm willing to forgive for being bad since they've never been strong, but I think I have to raise my standards now. Play this.

Short and sweet. The music and soundscape is right up my alley. Try the demo.

The port is broken in some crucial ways.

Happening to random people, but the online is completely unplayable due to a desync that happens during intros in matches. Stay away from this port if you have any other options.

Actually, it's better than a couple of the actual souls games.

I honestly don't get any joy from the so-called exploration in this game. There's a good chance I've been served all the worst content the game has to offer and I'm missing all the mythical "good content". Eventually I abandoned trying to find good stuff and hit the main story, which was bland for the most part, and bad for the others. The "hand-made" content usually amounts to prettier monster closets to have firefights in. The conversations are sterile at best, laughable but not funny at worst. The only time I felt like I had a real conversation was when your one of 4 or so main companions ask to talk to you. Every other choice felt binary or forced, little in terms of nuance.

Maybe check back in a month when people have made the "here is the list of good stuff to do" articles, because there's a good chance you're just gonna be bored unless you are easily impressed by their random generation.

None of this to say that it's missing the basic feature I went to BGS games for in the first place, the prospect of "see that mountain?" they set out during the advertising of Oblivion. It wasn't just "see that mountain? you can walk there" you usually found something worth doing on the way, or at the destination. In Starfield it's "see that galaxy map? you can fast travel to it" there's no journey, there's no interesting landmarks on the way. You hit the fast travel button and receive what was spit out from the content generation mill: The 3 landmarks with nothing at them, the random 3 caves with nothing in them, and the 2 abandoned facilities nobody is happy to see you at.

Playing this game makes me want to play Fallout 4 again, a game I disliked greatly, but now appreciate a lot in retrospect. Starfield doesn't have something as interesting as The Glowing Sea, or at least I haven't seen anything close.

Edit: at 45 hours, these issues are the same and worse and no longer bearable.
