The Ace Attorney games are an unforgettable experience with a wide cast of characters that are full of personality, cases full of twists and turns...

... and puns galore.

Gameplay, it is most of the time really just a visual novel cleverely disguised as a detective game. It's split into two main formats: Investigations and Trials. The former plays mostly like old click and point games to find and collect evidence, while you can talk to witnesses. The characters in these games tend to be very wacky; you'll have witnesses acting very cheesy, very "absurd" for a lack of better words as they perform feats and other wacky moves that almost distract you from what they'll say to you. It's fun and each of them are filled with personality that makes them stand out. You get to sometimes even press people to dig deeper for more information by using special powers like Phoenix's magatama in which you break "Psyche-locks" to make them spill the beans or Apollo's bracelet that lets him perceive even the smallest of twitches and small bodily habits to explain and gain a better understanding of the cases. It's fun to open these witnesses up and see them submit to your deductional results.

The latter, Trials, is where your hard-working investigation pays off as you get to piece the puzzle together and drag out the true culprit into the hall of justice. These are filled with twists and turns, and are a blast. Only sometimes did it feel like it was very specific for what evidence it asked for but this stingy feeling wasn't always the case. The character animations are whimsical and absurd, it adds to that infamous ace attorney persona where the characters are so absurd, it's funny.

It should be noted now that what makes this game so memorable for me is both the characters but also the music.
The music in every game is completely different with only character themes being the most consistent; the trial music is always different for each installment. Yet for every game, each track of the trial music is seemingly written with the same "feeling" to it. How every Cross-exam music has this inquisitive feeling, that also has a more amped-up, high-pace version that plays when you're getting real close to unveiling the true culprit and their deeds. The Objection! themes of every lawyer fits their personality and is immensely a good time when you're building your case.

There are a lot of puns (A lot of names in these games are literal puns and to keep it a little spoiler free, you have characters literally named "Trust-In-me, I'llBeYourGuide" and even "That'sHorrible" and ontop of that, there is a bit of a certain kind of humor to these games. The playable characters can come off very shocked and just flat out at a loss for words to react to some witnesses and there's a lot of cheesy moments here and there so that's important to keep in mind that it may not be for all.

Still, it's one of the best damn franchises. You can Tahrust Inmee on that.

The infamous title that coined the term Souls-like, Dark Souls manages to be just as dark, gritty and mysterious as it is powerful in gatekeeping game journalists away from its world.

Dark and Darker is a fresh new PvP experience offering a classic choice of classes all familiar to the world of Dungeons and Dragons and pits them against each other in a series of brutal dungeons that do not hold your hands as you venture inside.

Each of the classes offer a unique kit that sets the tone for your dungeoneering trip and have their own strengths and weaknesses.

To use more modern wording to describe Dark and Darker; it is a medieval dark fantasy styled "Battle Royale" without a zone that slowly forces the players into the middle (in place, a 15 minute timer before instant death upon failure to escape). You can kill other players and loot them freely for any of their belongings they were carrying on their person. You are able to go in as solo, duo or trio into the dungeons.

As mentioned, players must escape the dungeon in order to avoid certain death within the 15 minute timer. This is done by various means of escape be it through escape portals, a raft on the water or stairs to freedome (with most exits being blocked off once it has been used by somebody).

I'd say check it out!

An RPG maker-styled classic that ropes you into the mysterious dark world of a fictional artist's creations as a 9 year old girl named Ib.

While not as lengthy as some other titles, it makes up plenty for in quality. The atmosphere and the memorable characters is definitely worth checking this gem out. A must play for people who enjoy a classic tale that is still remembered today.

This game is definitely a hit for all the right reasons.

If your only exposure/knowledge of this game is about the suggestive incest themes, there's a good reason behind it. To understand it, one must delve into the game which I won't do because doing so would be doing a disservice, but I will try to give a general idea.

Andy and Leyley have a very interesting relationship in which Ashley is effectively a bad, very bad girl who gets her way through because her brother Andrew struggles massively to decline her requests, against his better judgment.
Still, they care for one another. Right? Play and find out!

But what would you do if you were put in quarantine for 3 months, with no food supplies coming your way and the only company being each other?

That all changes when a botched ritual seemingly offers them some succor, though immoral it may be. But it is merely but the start of an mind-boggling and interesting journey featuring our siblings.

This game is an original piece of RPG maker'esque horror, a fresh bite into a new kind of story we haven't seen yet. It isn't as puzzle dependant like Witch's House but instead the biggest focus here are the characters, their relationship and the challenges they face. Suffice to say, if you don't care for the characters, this isn't the game for you.

Being a beautiful remake of the original classic Half Life which is a milestone in gaming, it goes without saying that Black Mesa is made with love and care, redone for the new generations.

Definitely worth playing.

It carries the same levels of mystery and treachery that LIMBO, Playdead's previous title has. The narration is completely based on the visuals presented and the atmosphere it surrounds you in.

While I cleared it in approx. 3 hours which in my opinion isn't worth the original €19,99 pricetag, you're making a good purchase on this one provided there's a steamsale ongoing.

What seems at first to be a simple promising coop-game fails to deliver on the expectations as you're essentially barraged with loud cheap jumpscares and uninspiring gameplay.

If you have fun collecting materials like gastanks in left 4 dead before sounding the horde, then this is for you I guess.

After winning my first attempt at this, I felt more relieved to be done with it than the actual moment I realized we had won.

So this game is a double-edged axe; it has good stuff but the bad stuff is concerning enough to warrant a reconsideration if you wish to try this game out.

It succeeds in capturing the same eerie, mysterious storytelling that the first Amnesia game did with its narrative. The dialogue is rather good, and to avoid spoiling the story too much; it's dark and it's uncomfortable. Just what you'd want from an Amnesia'esque game: It should feel make you feel like you don't want to be here and ready to exit out of the game like a coward, unnerving you greatly.

That said, there are three major complaints I have about it.

The first being that compared to the first Amnesia game, there is no more inventory and sanity/health meter. A great deal of what made me terrified in the first game was constantly checking my supplies and noticing I was running low on tinderboes and low lantern oil, making me spend more time anxiously hoping to find more. Sanity has been completely removed with health not being a thing; you regenerate if you stay away from dangers long enough. Gone, is the challenge that added a huge layer of decision making and feeling of mortality as you scarcely pray to find more light and oil to keep yourself sane.

The second complaint is related to sanity. Without the sanity inducing penalties, you can stare at the dangers without reprecussions which arguably is something your character should be avoiding. To me, it makes it a more memorable experience and a better "horror game" if your game is hard to get accustomed to. If a game's horror monstrosities leave an impression on you, you've done a good job. Amnesia's enemies are distinctively horrible to look at with their unique designs that is highly likely to leave a good imprint on player's memories. The enemies in this game really don't stick with me, although I personally find them unsettling, though there is room to make them even more intimidating.

The last negative point is really the execution of certain aspects. The main pet peeve I have here, is that the game does this thing where if you are close to or pointing your light at an enemy, it will flicker. This to me would had worked so much better if it didn't do it all the time, because eventually it became a telegraphed warning. I feel torn on it because at times I felt like it added to the creepy atmosphere, but mostly it felt more like an annoying fairy that warned me about incoming danger. The lantern in the first game wouldn't suddenly flicker if you aimed it towards a monster and you'd suffer the consequences should you be found out, while here you're given a brief chance to turn the lamp off before anything can spot you easily.

For short:
The narrative and the story it tells is great, the changes to the gameplay and the execution of certain things hampen it down a notch. Worth a try but I wouldn't pay full price for it.
