I love the game, the problem is the players. It is quickly becoming Rust in that people just shoot you on sight with low grade weapons killing you even if you have end game gear in literally 1 to 2 seconds. This is very unbalanced because it can take literally 5 hours just to get some mid tier gear in the game. And when I say 5 hours it is because you may get killed by a camper at a extraction point or sometimes AT SPAWN POINTS. As it stands, player on player damage is way to high when compared to fighting ARC (the robots). When you fight ARC they usually take anywhere from 1-3 to hundreds of shots depending on the ARC and weapon used. But with players, you can just pick up some trash off the floor and use it to kill a fully kitted out player almost instantly if you get even a little bit of a jump on them. All this does is encourage extremely toxic behavior where you go into a match with free kits (you get a gun, some ammo, a light shield, and a very small backpack) and just gun down everyone you see. As of right now there is nothing to stop or even discourage this kind of behavior, and because of that every time I play a match of solos I see that it is getting more and more toxic. When I first played this game it was like every 25 matches I would get a guy who would shoot at me. Now it is pretty much any where from 15 to 5 matches that people are shooting at you, which one could argue is not that common but at this rate this game is going to become a PvP sweat fest with PvE elements. They desperately need some sort of system to combat this toxic behavior, because this is a PvPvE game not a PvP game. And as soon as you remove the E is PvPvE it is just another PvP extraction shooter but this time you get killed in 3-5 shots. And So far I have just been talking about Solo, in squads every match is a who shoots first battle, which is fine, if this was just a PvP game. But this is a PvPvE game. I bought this game for the PvE and some amounts of PvP, but this game is quickly turning into PvP focused game. It's to the point that I kind of wish I could refund it, but as you can see as of writing this review I have 51 hours so I can't. It's getting so bad that at this point the main reason I am continuing to play it is because I paid 40 dollars for the game and want to get my value out of it. But anyways to sum up how I feel, they need some sort of system to make PvP more risky so it doesn't happen as often and need to balance damage to players so battles feel more fair. If they fix the problems mentioned then I will happily change this review to positive, but right now all I can say is only buy if you like to lose 5 or more hours to a guy with a gun that he got for free.

Edit: There is a way to use DLC slugcats it is just hard to access.

To enable DLC story jolly co-op you have to add a text file named "garrito_feature" in the Rain World file /StreamingAssets/ which is located in the file /RainWorld_Data/ (you can access this via browsing local files on steam by right clicking Rain World).

It is a bypass so it is unknown if this can cause crashing or just be fine.

Thank you superex for telling me this.

After this you will have to do something else, but it includes spoilers so I will say it at the end of the review. All I will say here is that you just need to play the game and find something in story mode for each DLC character.

This review will now be positive because a fix has been found.

Review before editing.

-----------------------------------------

Okay, before I start this review I first want to state I am only talking about the DLC. Not the base game.

If you want some more single player story mode: sure get this DLC.

But if you want to play said DLC story mode campaign with friends: forget about it, because as it seems, they won't be adding support with co-op for the DLC story lines.

I personally think having the main selling point being co-op and not having a DLC story co-op as being misleading and unfair considering most ads make one think that such is included in the DLC.

Arena mode doesn't even have any support with DLC characters! Which I find quite frustrating.

Honestly this is my only complaints with this DLC even though I have even had crashes because of the DLC update. I don't care as much when it comes to crashing, I play games with mods quite frequently and experience crashing at times, But having features missing is a whole other story.

I hope this is just a mistake and they will soon add support, If this happens I will instead change this review. But until this happens or never happens, this review will stay.

Thank you for reading this review and hopefully this will be resolved.

Thank you Whiplasher15 for telling me this

You have to find a green unlockable in the final region of the DLC slugcats's story campaign.

The Reason I am making this review because of how I personally feel with how they are splitting survival mode and story mode.

I feel it is not fair to say you are going to add new things at one point and then change your mind when things get rough and charge $20-30 USD for the update that was expected to be free. I understand that it is hard to make games, and games cost much money to produce; but, It is not fair to make a game that was sold as a game you don't have to pay extra for new updates and features and then make it a game where most of the good features are locked behind a paywall.

Honestly If the DLC was not this much I would be happy to get it.
But I don't want to pay $20-30 for a DLC on top of a game that costs already $35 USD, It just does not seem very fair.

Other than this choice that I do not agree with, It is a good game and I only hope that they maybe change the price to reflect the base game's price better. $20-30 is a lot of money for a DLC and I think because of this I would rather take the money and buy 2 games for that price then buy features that should really have been in the game in the first place.

Before I end this review I want to say this: I still love The Long Dark and will still probably continue to play it, but I will most likely be not buying the DLC.

That is all for now, thank you for reading this review and hopefully this will be seen by the Devs so they can see the player's side of the choice.

" Is pretty good if you are okay with almost every planet having at least one potato creature, But then again who wouldn't like potato creatures? "

Also I know that it shows the date of posting this review but I wanted to just put that in anyway.
