If you at all like puzzle games, escape rooms, anything like that, this is a solid buy. Great environments to explore, a few good "aha" moments, very solid all around. There is a hint system as well, which is extremely unobtrusive (you have to open your inventory and select for a hint to be given, and it will start vague and go from there), so you can safely put on hints without having to worry about the game leading you by the nose, and also use them if you get stuck somewhere or forget what you need to investigate.

That said, it's a rather short experience, as others have pointed out. Up to you whether or not a ~3-hour game is worth 30 bucks. It's a quality 3-hour experience, though. If you enjoyed the puzzlebox of the previous games, you'll probably enjoy this one too.

A really solid VR game, besides some annoyances.

Pros:
- Solid game. Really feels like the sort of thing where it's like "okay, this is what VR gaming is capable of".
- Great introductory game to VR in general, too. Never got motion-sick while playing, and I'm still fairly new at VR.
- Lots to do and find while you're playing the game. Solid mechanics.

Cons:
- Safe-cracking is insanely hard mechanically. For some reason, the game always wants to select 1 no matter what button my finger is on. Huge hassle in multiple scenarios.
- Sometimes the grip controls were a little strange? Selecting the flashlight versus the backpack also could be a problem.
- AI could be a bit weak but to be fair that's probably for the best in a VR game. Kind of helped smooth the difficulty curve so it wouldn't be super-overwhelming.

All in all a very solid game I would totally recommend to others. Just keep in mind the safes are absolute nightmares. Don't forget about your right-shoulder holster like I did. Recycle bin is OP character, top-tier best friend forever.

Upon playing through this game a second time, I think it's one of my favorite games of the past while. It's a little hard to get into at first, but once you start learning the game better, it gets easier. There's a hidden depth to a lot of facets of the game, from the gameplay to.. Well, I'm not going to go into it. There's a lot to explore and find out about and there's no better way to find out than to try it. So just give it a try, really. It's a very solid game.

Definitely a fun little thing. Fun little gimmick, very short game, definitely worth a look. Don't spoil it for yourself by learning what the gimmick is early, just jump in, play through it, see what happens.

Also if you're like me and really hate jumpscares... The game sets one up, but there aren't any. At least, I didn't encounter any.

Downloading this made a small white dog appear on my desk top. Not my desktop, I mean the top of my desk. It does nothing but write positive reviews for this soundtrack when I'm not looking.

Overall, an odd but endearing experience.

Narration-heavy, but not in a bad way. The gameplay helps draw you into the story, even with it is a "walking sim". Definitely lends creedence to video games as an art form. So if you don't mind the lack of gameplay and treat it like an interactive exploration through a story, it's definitely a nice 1.5-2 hour experience.

Also recommended for creative types.

Early Access Review
Pretty much like any other arcade game. As in, the mechanics are simple, you can get caught off-guard easily, there's a good bit of challenge as your pursuant gets faster and pauses for less time before grabbing for you, and if you know how the mechanics all work then you can try to pull off risky manuevers or just game the system and all that. Not to mention, besides the game, there's the whole arcade-cabinet-in-basement/garage environment where you're actually looking at the screen, hearing the music in that close environment through speakers, click of the joystick and buttons and all?

At any rate, for 2 bucks it's not bad. It's simple, the levels repeat (with growing difficulty), and the gameplay isn't hard to pick up, but grows challenging over time. I come back to it fairly often, mainly to give it another go and get farther, and also because I want to beat my friends' high scores because we're one-upping each other. So yeah, I think it's a fun little game.

By the way I should throw this disclaimer on here, I was the one who made the bleep bloop sounds and music, yeah. I didn't have anything to do with the gameplay or art or deciding mechanics or anything, though, I just supplied noises. I do legitimately think the game's decent, though, but yeah just putting that bit of transparency out there in case people think I'm reviewing my own product or something.

Even barring the massive controversy going on about the game creator and the manipulation of facts and the circlejerk of hatred people love to create to make this happen and the sensationalist culture behind this, this game is not a game. It's the most lacking game I can think of as being on steam. It consists of clicking on hyperlinks to continue the plot, which is told through text. Not really very gripping material.

At the very least, it's somewhat informative about what people with depression go through, but it's a really awful "game". I was bored with it when it was a browser game I clicked through once, and I'm still immensely bored with it, and surprised it got onto steam greenlight with how little of a game it was. I'm willing to bet people only threw in their vote because they felt they had to because of the creator's supposed "attacks because female" and will forget about it just as soon as I did.

Save yourself the download and play it in a browser.

I'm writing on the off-chance that someone is looking at this page in the shop because this game is on sale.

Don't buy this game. Buy L4D2. It includes this game.

This game was basically sold at full value when it came out, with users being told that more would be added to make up for there only being 4 campaigns. There wasn't more added until after the sequel came out. The content from this game was put into the second game.

Don't buy this game. Buy L4D2. It's L4D, with Steam Workshop, with many more campaigns, with melee weapons and more guns, with much much more to it. I'm not saying L4D is bad. But everything in here is basically an expansion pack to L4D2 at this point.

I wrote this review because I saw L4D on sale and didn't want someone else buying it at this point when an "equal to and much greater" option is available for probably the same or close-to-same price.
