I don't like rhythm games, so it's easy for me to say this:

Best rhythm game ever.

A nice Captain Toad-like game but with VR mechanics. Level design is quite good. Looks nice and plays well. I like the miniature style. A cool puzzle game.

Great VR implementation. Great, ultra-frantic gameplay. Great graphics and style. Very, very polished.

Collect guns and powerups in a big pile, check out products or make food trays when you have downtime, shoot fruit when they approach. Unlock new weapons with your spoils.

I love it.

It's a jankfest. It feels bad to play because they butchered the aiming. Even if the guns were more properly aligned with motion controllers, the gun projectiles just go whenever. Nothing about the game feels slick. You can really tell the release was very, very rushed. Maybe they'll fix it up in time. Who can say? Don't gamble on it.

Streets of Rogue is full of features that give birth to emergent gameplay. It's a little short at this stage in Early Access, but there's already a lot of potential which has been met.

Turok 2 exists as a great game in the minds of the nostalgic. If you enjoyed Turok 2 in the day, this port is very good. However, Turok 2 fails in basic level design, gameplay pacing, and of course production values. Skip, if you're not already a fan. Thumbs down if you're nostalgic.

One of the most boring VR wave shooter games I've played. The game mostly involves holding down the trigger on full auto weapons and aiming at streams of bullet sponges that surge toward you. The game somehow manages to look flat, despite being in stereoscopic VR.

Get Space Pirate Trainer if you want a wave shooter.
Get First & Second Encounter in VR if you want a good Serious Sam game.

Before playing Katana X, I did not believe a game could be both frantic and deeply relaxing. The core gameplay of this game may seem overly simple, but the action is astonishingly addictive. Unlike the classic mobile game Fruit Ninja, the nuanced physics and demanding rigor of Katana X touches to something more significant within me. The smooth sweeping strikes one must perform to score well in Katana X deceive me into believing that I may have missed my true calling as a swordsman.

And therein lies the draw of Katana X. Not once before in VR or in any other medium have I felt like I was actually using a sword. Whether it be Wii Motion Plus's 1:1 sword battles or the swordsman in Raw Data, eventually all these previous experiences have resulted in me seeing beyond the presentation and result in me waggling my "sword" around violently, without any care or elegance, like someone trying to distract a free throwing basketball player with a foam finger. In Katana X the sword has finally become real.

Raw Data is one of the most refined VR experiences currently available. From depth of gameplay to variety, content, graphics and sound, Raw Data is a class act. Heck you even have liquid physics simulation via Nvidia Flex!

I don't think I can say much that hasn't been said, but if you're looking for a really solid and enjoyable VR action game, look no further. Raw Data should be in every VR gamer's library.

Dead Cells is the best roguelike platformer since Spelunky.

The controls and gameplay are immensely satisfying and addictive. The action seems simple enough, but managing the chaos when many enemies are present is key. Additionally, you must power up your character very shrewdly lest you run the risk of being insta-killed or being forced to evade enemy attacks so long that you die of attrition.

Visually, Dead Cells evokes a Dark Souls style, similar to many mock up 2D arts that have been floating around the net, while also borrowing visual cues liberally from the Castlevania series.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the music. Not since Spelunky has a roguelike had a soundtrack of this quality. A mix of ambient and genuinely enjoyable tunes guarantees I'll keep my volume up.

Dead Cells is some of the most fun I've had in 2017. Even if you think you may be tired of 2D roguelikes, Dead Cells may be for you.
