Arrowhead did so much for the game, and PlayStation has decided to undermine everything the small dev team had worked for over the years.

Edit: We're so back this game is absolute fire

Disclaimer: I have only played two monster hunter games, and I enjoy them both for their own reasons.

While MHWorld felt like exploring a whole larger-than-life ecosystem where monsters would interact with both you and eachother, Rise feels like being thrown into a pit with a furious rajang, and having just as many overpowered ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moves that it has. World feels more environment focused, where the game aims to quite literally make you explore a new world and slowly discover the intricacies about it. Rise on the other hand is much more fast-paced and solely combat focused, giving you many new combat options with wirebugs (which are all quite strong).

I would recommend this game if you like the feeling of being overpowered and fighting monsters with many different combat options available. As a hunter your attacks and movements are much faster than in world, and you have access to many counters, super-armour options, invulnerability windows, and crazy moves that don't exist in world. Along with the more forgiving nature of combat on the player side, the monsters also seem to telegraph their moves more than in world. This means that making mistakes when fighting monsters feels much more forgiving than in world, it also means that you feel absolutely unstoppable... At least until you get hit with some of the new moves that monsters have. Some people might see this as a positive or a negative; the clearer monster tells + weapon movesets might make them feel less rewarded when hunting, or some people might enjoy the feeling of learning the new movesets and using them optimally.

To me, Rise and World feel like two sides of the same monster hunter coin. While Rise is technically the more recent game of the series (and it certainly has improvements), it feels more like an experimental hypercharged-monster-combat-thunderdome compared to the more exploratory down-to-earth world (haha) of World.

P.S. I would highly recommend the DLC Sunbreak. I have not played without the DLC, but I feel like the experience was just so much more fun when I got into the endgame DLC.

OH my GYAT.
If you like:
- Destroying ecosystems
- Always learning something about the weapon you are using
- Anyone but the handler
- Dodogama
- Pog crazy impact frames that make each hit feel GODLY
- Throwing yourself at a monster and gradually improving each hunt
- Hunting for the drippiest cosmetics

Then you're going to LOVE monster hunter world.

Although, if you are going to get this game, I would recommend the DLC: Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. MHWI adds so much more content including:
- New moves for each weapon
- New ways to interact with monsters via clutch claw
- New region
- MORE DRIP
- A satisfying endgame boss
- A unique postgame second final boss
- An EXTREMELY fun and satisfying final boss
- A new siege monster
- Gambling (but you always win)
- Many extremely fun and unique new monsters
and MUCH more.

Ever since the game had its final major update, it has felt so polished and complete.

Clean and crisp pixel art and animations. Fast paced gameplay (at least for a card/board game). Replace mechanic so you can actually get rid of cards you dont need. Card game - No, Board game - BOTH. The rewards system is definetly rewarding because you actually have a decent chance to get legendaries and epics so you don't have to pay to win *cough cough, hearthstone*.

Good game, fun gameplay, great community.
