Phenomenal game, the only roguelike FPS I've seen that gives Gunfire Reborn a run for its money. Only complaint is runs go a little long for my liking, ~35-45 minutes for a full run is a bit much.

Apart from the new anime opening not being as good as the Second Evolution one, literally everything else about this game is just the same Star Ocean 2 we know and love but better. Easy buy and if BG3 hadn't come out this year GOTY for sure.

This is a very tentative yes to recommend, solely because of the value you get for the price. My one huge gripe with the game is also the game's biggest strength: the ludicrous damage numbers. Because the game imposes literally 0 limits on the number of passives you can get and how juiced you can make them literally every run ends up devolving into massive screen covering effects that all do ludicrous damage and makes every run feel the same, which should never happen in a roguelike, the whole point of the genre is to give a fresh experience every time you play. If the devs find a way to make runs feel different from one another besides the color of the screen covering attack you decide to use then this game could very well be the best survivorslike game on steam.

Far more bugs than I'd like, but a solid beat-em-up overall. ~35 hours to 100% the game and its DLCs, not including NG+, you are getting a solid amount of content for your money here. One note on a bug that you WILL encounter: when you have to climb the Oscorp tower and disable the security nodes, start the animation to disable them then stop and then complete it. On controller you'd hold R1/RB for like half a second, stop, then hold it until the circle fills up. If you dont do it like that Spider-Man will be locked in an animation and you will be softlocked and forced to reload checkpoint over and over and over again.

This game would be an easy recommend, but.......


IT USES DENUVO. This game, by all means, should run flawlessly on my 5800x and RTX 3060, but randomly hitches for no reason, which completely throws off rhythm in a RHYTHM game and causes missed notes that should not happen. NO MORE DENUVO PLEASE.

A very very solid Tales game and JRPG in general. Only real complaint besides the graphics is the absurd tedium in completing sidequest chains where the next objective is placed seemingly at random with no rhyme or reason, but that's just me nitpicking. Also I feel that certain actions that warrant achievements don't have them, namely Discovering Normin Island, discovering Katz Korner, beating the Character Card family, and beating Phoenix. Overall fantastic.
