TLDR;
My hours in this game are bittersweet. One of the most amazing games to date, but the biggest problem with it is the blatant amount of people cheating online.


It is simply wrong and unacceptable for so many people to be cheating in multiplayer, and to make matters worse the majority of the player base condones it or is generally indifferent or complacent of the climate of the game when it comes to modders. The amount of people begging for "money drops" in online lobbies complaining that its too hard to earn their in game items legitimately is disgusting, and I've had my game crashed by mod menus so many times its sad. This review will undoubtedly be lost in the noise, but take it from someone that has put so many hours into the game on PC that it is a regrettable experience due to the whole of it being cheapened by people that insist on plaguing the community with cheats and mods because they fail to play the game properly. I report modders in game for exploits, but the problem goes unfixed after years of playing because of a lack of dedicated servers and the ability for banned players to simply buy new accounts and play through the social club launcher outside of Steam. I wish i could leave a proud review for a game I've so deeply invested in, but the reality is its ruined by cheaters and what seems to be a lack of care by the games support. If this ever changes, I would gladly update my review because I doubt I could bring myself to stop playing the game in spite of this glaring issue.

UPDATE:
it is currently as bad as it has ever been for the persistent problem of cheaters and modders in GTAO, it remains one of my go to games because i have friends to play it with but lately we cant be in a lobby for 5 minutes without someone crashing our games or spawning objects on us. Hey, if you use mods in multiplayer for any reason- you are cowardly degenerate scum. Games only have the meaning we give them via rules implemented and with out those it is a meaningless sandbox, there is no excuse for modding in multiplayer.

i played this game when it was out 2 years ago. I still love it, and i plan on putting a lot of my time into this game. i hope they keep releasing new stuff for it. thank you Chucklefish
