I got black screen when opening this game and the only way to fix and play the game is by adding -safemode in launch, but that would messed up audio. When looking for solution on the internet, I've found out that this game are poorly optimized. Then I sailed the seven seas to try finding out if the "forbidden one" work as told by rumour and hearsay, and guess what, they work. How the heck that official released failed so bad when those floating on the seven seas worked like a charm? That's a major problem if Devs wanted gamers support. And no, I won't ask for refund since I got this game for like 2 dollar during sales, much cheaper than a cigarettes, and I've play this back then on PS3 so there's a nostalgic reason, but do better next time. Why next time? because I know Devs won't update this old game anymore so better focus on new games.
No. I do not keep the "forbidden one" as stuff floating in the seven seas carries risk of virus.
Btw, if I find a better solution than -safemode or changing drive, I'll change the rating to positive. This is a fun game afterall.

In my opinion, Back 4 Blood are actually a decent game despite the negative feedback this game received. However, some of those feedback are actually on point.
For me personally, the weapon modification and card system for this game are like a double edge sword. While modifications and cards give the player a good chance of surviving on the highest difficulty level, be it on single or multiplayer mode, it's also could take the fun away since players would probably relying on it more than their own skill. This won't be much of a problem on single player mode, since you can just not doing any of both, but on multiplayer, other players will most likely leave the game early on if they noticed that you don't bring good cards. As for weapon modification, it can make your weapon way too OP, like one-shot sniping a sniper on Act 5 (or was it 6, I don't remember) using shotgun. Personally, I prefer the old time skills rather than huge buffs from modifications and cards system. The unlock system are great though, it makes me want to play the game more so i can collect points/totems to unlock more stuffs.

So, the question is, would I recommend this game? Yes I would, but only when it's on sale for at least 50%. It's not worth it if it's on full price. Also this game need modding support. For me, characters and weapons doesn't need too many official skins, just left that part to modding communities.

By the way, I won't compare this game with L4D/L4D2 because that would be unfair, even though this game was supposed to be the spiritual successor. L4D/L4D2 are simply a masterpiece, I know it's not easy to re-create or achieved the same level again.

15 years later this masterpiece of a game are still so much better than many games of similar genre. Almost everything are beautifully done from the music, characters, gameplay, zombies, single/multi to mod friendly. And speaking of mod, the community are still creating new mods which is great and this most likely will continued for many more years. If there are any con in this game then it's the bots, but mod can fix that.
So, of course I would recommend this game to other players especially to younger generation who never play this game before. And this game is cheap too and sometime appear in discount bundle with all other valve games, so that's a plus.
