Early Access Review
The damage upgrades feel very lackluster and the bosses are damage sponges (I've upgraded my damage about 4-5 times now and the starting enemies still take two hits to kill). Also, if an item is going to lose stacks upon taking damage, it might be a good idea to tell the player that. I like it so far, but I'm stuck at the game's second boss, and it feels like I'm slowly chipping away at its health. The game has a lot of minor annoyances that just stack up over time, such as despite the fact that you lose gold whenever you die, there's also tiny creatures that steal gold right from under your nose.
Also, there's a way you can completely softlock your run if you're not careful. Because you can't jump on oil, if you cover a ledge in oil, you can't platform. (this has only happened to me once, I walked into a room and the only way forward was platforming to the next area. An oil slime jumped onto me, knocked me into the pit, and I was unable to continue).

bit overpriced, but I stayed up way later than I should have due to its satisfying gameplay loop

The game is very pretty and has a lovely soundtrack. I can see potential in it. I'm putting ten bucks towards it as a bit of an investment.

However, if you buy it in its current state, do not expect much. As of 4/14/2019 this game is very early access.

If you decide to put money into this, make sure that you're doing it because you support the future of the game, not because you expect stellar gameplay right at this moment. I recommend it, but only because it's clear there's a lot of effort going into it so far.

Had this game in my wishlist to remind me to buy it due to matpat being a moron. (screw game theory). Friend went and bought it for me anyhow. must say, I enjoy the soundtrack. can't say much bout the story and gameplay since that's not quite done yet, but I'm eagerly awaiting updates.

The game makes you wait way too much. Wanna get some armor? Go gather some parts to craft. Wanna dodge? gonna have to wait for the end-lag to wear off. Wanna sell an item? gonna have to wait for the NPCs to wander over to your counters.
Look, I'm fine with grindy games like monster hunter or JRPGs, but there's just so much time where you could be doing something just waiting. I honestly think that if someone released a mod that smoothed out the controls and added an exp system, this game would appeal to me a lot more, because then there'd be a few short-term rewards.
Speaking of combat, the hitboxes are kinda wonky, and there's a bit of end-lag on swings. Whether bumping into an enemy hurts you or not is vague at best, and the lack of a tutorial for keyboard controls is annoying. The worst part is, the combat's not even particularly difficult, it's just getting your character to move in a way that you want.
Story's pretty generic but it gets a pass for having a form of mystery to it. The usefulness of cash is very much dependent on whether or not you're saving up for something big. There's almost no use for small amounts of money unless that's your "get out of the dungeon free" card.
I don't HATE this game, but I found it very dull.

So this game used to be a free to play browser game, but now, ya gotta pay.
Should you? Absolutely not. This game's community is full of the whiniest softest little babies you can think of, the most tryhardy "big brain" dorks, and the most horny and homosexual dengenerates.

Hit detection is messed up, NPCs seem to do and take more damage than you do, jail time is one of the least fun mechanics I can think of, and the admins are corrupt. Sure is a good thing I got this for free, or I'd have refunded this game faster than you can say "Roblox with poorer optimization"

This game is amazing, and the dev is a cool dude. All issues I had with this game are gone, and bugs are fixed rapidly. This game is worth every cent.

It's ok. I find that the damage can be rather wonky. Sometimes 2 headshots will take out that big beefy guard, sometimes it doesn't. It's probably a hitbox issue, but still rather annoying. You die in one hit, some enemies take many shots. Feels kinda cheap in some ways. The idea is to sneak up and kill enemies silently, however sometimes weapons will alert everyone else regardess of if they didn't before. I've also come across a bug where enemies will do the smash bros dash dance back and forth rapidly to the point where sneaking up on them is impossible and you just have to take em out with a decent headshot.
It's a very "trial and error" type of puzzle game, however, it seems as though checkpoints are simply not present, so you could be punished for messing up once after a long mission and have to start all over again. The one ability that the reaper does have, which is traversing vents, is either too scarce or unreliable to really be considered a good option. What I mean by this, is there are some one way vents in almost every mission, that you pop out of but cannot get back in again. This means if you don't position yourself perfectly, you might be stuck in a really rough situation to get out of.
Lastly, completing a mission doesn't really feel gratifying. The missions feel like a chore to get through, and the payoff is being able to buy some weapons that could potentially help in the next few missions, so you do have some options, however, most just aren't worth it. I might change my opinion as I get further in, but after getting plopped back at the start a bunch of times due to the game not registering that tiny dot + big head = headshot made me a little irritated.

Everything else I didn't touch on is fine.

TL;DR, the game can be a little punishing and annoying at times, and there isn't much satisfaction after completing a mission.

More cop killing than an antifa/BLM member's wet dream. It's one of those games where you can't really feel good playing it, but at the same time, kinda need to. I don't think I'll be putting any more hours into it, but I don't necessarily regret playing it.
