Very good combat system and fun boss fights. Very fun in terms of balancing and gathering resources. A good challange on brutal. A worthy purchase for anyone who likes this genre of gameplay/setting.

Completely overrun by RMT cheaters and chinese blatant cheat streamers.

Company got bought by Tencent, so you can guess how much they do about it. They probably get % from RMT.

Dogs**t game.

Dash through beautiful clouds at blazing speeds in unspeakable well designed jets or just enjoy bombing stuff from as low as a few hundred feet, to dozens of miles.

This game is honestly for everyone who is into military planes and air warfare. Being a mediocre sim enthusiast like me or a hardcore simulator person with control setups for multiple thousands of dollars.

-Graphics-
Great graphics, performance can be great but also abysmal, depending on your setup and settings ofc. For me, with a pretty good rig, you will get a good amount of fps, probably in the low 100s with top to high end hardware from the last few years. Having a newer rig with todays excellent to high end hardware can obviously only help. That said, turning on some resource heavy settings, especially on medium end rigs will get your fps very low. VERY. LOW. Also i recommend atleast 32gb ram.

Also do not expect ground stuff to be detailed. This is a flight sim after all. And while all the calculations and rendering for ground vehicles, obstacles and traffic does work well, it is not the beauty side of this sim. But it is not bad either. Just practical.

-Content-
There are planes for everyone. F2p planes are good, and the Su-25T is a great starter module to learn the ropes. But definetely get the high fidelity models if you like the game and have enough buttons. They are well worth the price.

There is a lot stuff to do, there are many mission for free and in the form of dlc, you can just sim around, bomb stuff, go BVR, go dogfighting, there is more than enough air-to-ground stuff and all the other stuff i did not even try yet. It is a very capable and complete sim in terms of combat. Not to speak of the models and their details.

My 2 cents on starter planes, F16, JF-17 and probably the A-10, even tho you need to learn alot, memorize a lot and need a lot buttons and heads to bind for the Hog.

I'd personally not recommend the F18 to everyone as starter. While it probably is one of the easiest planes, and a lot of fun, it tends to teach some bad habits that can impaire you later on. (I still got it first and did not regret)

After that, for the fun rating, i would go with the Harrier, as it brings new stuff to master. And F14/Mirage are also honorable mentions.

-Sound-
Not much to say. Simply amazing, probably the best sound i ever witnessed in terms of flight simulation.

-Generel concerns-
It is a simulator after all, so do not expect arcade flying. Yes there is an arcade-ish mode, yes there are low fidelity planes, no it does not play like Ace Combat or HAWX. And no there are no battlefield UFOs in DCS either. Stay away, for your own good, if you do not want to learn stuff and bring a lot of patience and time to practice.

Ofcourse i have to speak about the controls. While there are people who can perfectly play this game, way better than i ever will, with controllers or even KB+M, i just can not recommend playing this on anything else than a few hundred dollar hotas. It is a worthy investment if you are into fligh sims, and almost a requirement for dcs.

Since vehicle sims in generel, especially flight sims tend to have a lot of axes bound for fine movement and you mostly have to do a lot of stuff simultaneously, moving your "head" ingame can be atrocious without head tracking. Even tho i really do not like most head tracking solutions and VR being very ugly, i still use track hat and i recommend track ir or a very good VR device for DCS.

-Conclusion-
Download and never uninstall.

...and im serious on that. I literally could not reinstall because some weird errors with steam download. Had to ask a friend to help me out. Never ever uninstall.

Used to be one of my favorite games. Came back after a long time and only to see that it's a trashy mess now.

All of the stated below is regarding to Ground Battles.

Battle rating balancing is a joke, punishment for leaving mates is non existent.

Arcade is a buggy mess of some of the worst coding i've ever seen, with indicated hits not even making it halfway, markings just being completely random and shots, that would'nt even hit in a parallel universe with altered physics, randomly oneshotting. Me and my enemies.

Realistic battles is just as bad. Vehicle ratings just raise for no reason, so i do not only play against 1 br higher but now its 2 ranks. Meaning out of the maybe 40% of the times i can damage an enemy at all, yes its like 40% the time overall, i now can damage not even half of those, shifting the overall damage chance to more like 20%.

And thats not even exaggerated. I lasted 120 games before i alt.f4'ed. I know how to angle in a fight, how to use binoculars to spot, how to position and where to aim. I know that it is sometimes better to go for red ch shots and aim for known weakspots despite arcade giving other instructions to me.

And yet, it just feels like playing a game i can't win by default and im just tired being angry over it. In ~120 games i literally played maybe 10 of them with balanced teams with the same or nearly same ratings. 70% of the other games were literally me and most of my team getting stomped by unkillable steel blobs and 30% the time we were stomping them. Must've been fun for them aswell. Not a single balanced and close or atleast interesting round of those ~110 games.

And all of that was'nt nearly as bad 3 years before.

So overall:

Graphics - heavily depending on your system, mediocre to extreme good.
Sound - Nothing really to complain about
Content - Grindy, but alot of content
Gameplay - In 120 games tested: Can be fun but most of the time it just feels unfair and annoying (~90%)
Balancing - Abysmal ( I don't even know why anyone thought matching, sometimes vastly, different ranks is a
good idea)
Support - Great, Fast

Is it p2w? No.
Is it fun f2p? Depends. If your into grinding for literaly months, yes. Otherwise, CREDITU CARDU.
Is it easy? I'd say, easy to learn, hard to master. Steep learning curve but even without being good, i had my
fun years before. But as i stated above, now its kinda trash.

All in all, i highly doubt they will change anything regarding balancing and i even more doubt that substantially bad coded stuff will get fixed anytime soon. So while it can be fun, especially if you're tilt resistent, i can not recommend it in its current state. Kinda sad honestly.

Now Crytek went full bonkers. "Hey, our game has 1000 flaws, lets add bulletdrop to change the core mechanics and make the issues even worse." Cant remember who the fk asked. If bullet drops makes it into the game, its time to drop the game from my library aswell.

Easily one of the best games i played on steam, and probably in my top 30 of all games i played.

Im to lazy right now to do a full review, but the main pros and cons:

.Good and, most important, immersive graphics
.Very nice sound (not talking about the music cus i normally disable it in games x)
.A good variety of weapons, armor and items
.A large pool of content (larger than it initially seems)
.Insane good core gameplay (for me as a hardline soulsborne fan)
.Nice map design and fitting environment
.Good npc and monster designs (more in cons)
.Very clear and easy base controls + tutorials that should explain EVERYthing
.Good amount of coop / competitive play (more in cons)
.Funny (in all means except dialogue sometimes...not talking about jokes tho)

-In VERY few occasions dropping ur fps to less than DayZ average (speaking of you mr. fps storm)
-For ppl who have general problems with a more skill based combat design i can not recommend this for obv reasons
-it is to easy to many times (being honest here, even tho there is a kinda large tutorial time)
-Could be more "pvp" stuff and i kinda beat the whole game solo... for some reasons
-They reused a bit to much of some monsters, not a big deal but cmon. do. not. do. it. in. dlc.
-Some of the item related controls are not thought out for kb+m users

I RECOMMEND A CONTROLLER EVEN THO I PLAYED WITH AND FAVOUR KB+M

One more thing:

The story and dialogues are obv not for the more serious and dark affine players, meaning that it is kinda more for kids or players who enjoy light story and conversations without much depth and some logic errors/naive and predictable stuff, but it is bearable for me atleast :P It is definitely not the games purpose either to tell a great, GALVANIC story i believe. (thx google translate)

For me easily a 9/10, only because 10/10 is... kinda unreachable for me cus of the games i played already. :)

Had alot of fun the time i played but after completing it a few times, it gets boring very fast. For me it is to repetitive to beat the game over and over again with every new ship to unlock the next. The other ships should be available after completing several, maybe even harder tasks. But not finishing the "main quest" dozens of times.

Also except RNG is very mean sometimes, the core gameplay is very thought and fleshed out, something i do not see often in small games like FTL.

7/10 Because it gets boring kinda fast.

Doable controls (playing with kb+m), good graphics, realistic scale and alot of grinding. For me one of the best Space Sims, only topped by Star Citizen in its dreamstate. Which will probably never release.

If you want fast and fun Space Gameplay with realistic controls and universe scale, this game will work for you. And if you wanna grind all day and see every ship and aspect, this game has even more to offer.

And in VR this game is even more fun. Beside from the usual VR problems.

Only downside: There could be more flyable ships in every category. But its decent in it's actual state.

If you have general trouble with complex controls and if you are to lazy to learn some stuff by doing, i would not touch ED.

9/10 game for me.
