Early Access Review
The factory must grow.

Overall, Satisfactory is kinda really good, and despite still being in early access it feels extremely well polished, minus a few minor bugs here and there. Your objective is to build factories and to e x p a n d, starting with basic resources like iron, copper, and limestone, and eventually moving up to the more complex stuff like oil refinement, computing and electronics, and eventually nuclear power. There is really a lot to do in this game, from progressing the milestones, building something that looks really cool or pretty, exploring the world to find drop pods and power slugs, or just sitting back and watching your factory go to work.

Gameplay-wise, Satisfactory has a very easy to grasp loop - milestone or building requires X item, locate resource(s), build manufacturing to produce X item, repeat until power becomes a problem, expand the power grid, repeat. In the early game you will mostly be working with iron, copper, and limestone to produce iron rods and plates, copper wire and cables, and concrete, while being limited to biomass burners for power which cannot be automated, so you will be frequently required to do a little bit of deforestation. In the mid game you will be working more with coal, water, and oil to produce steel, plastic, and rubber, while now being able to automate power with coal and fuel generators. In the late game you will be working more with bauxite, quartz, caterium, and eventually uranium to produce aluminium and advanced electronics, while now being able to expand your power even further with nuclear power plants. In between all of that it is a good idea to explore the world for power slugs, which can be used to overclock your buildings allowing them to produce items faster, and drop pods, which grant you access to alternative crafting recipes for components, often being more cost effective while being a bit more complex. Towards the late game, it is also beneficial to be good with numbers because a lot of calculations will be needed to create late game factories that run at 100% efficiency due to a lot more awkward numbers being thrown in.

Visually, Satisfactory is very pleasing on the eyes no matter what region of the map you're in. Almost all of the biomes, especially the recently overhauled Northern Forest, are extremely atmospheric and generally just pleasing to be in. All of the creatures are easily recognisable from a distance, and you will quickly learn what ones are friendly and what ones are not. One peculiarity I have had while playing is the sudden urge to start playing Sanctum 2, due to both games having some very similar aesthetics at times, especially in the Grassy Plains area.

In closing, I highly recommend Satisfactory to anyone who is familiar with similar games such as Factorio, and to anyone who is looking to give factory building games a try. 10/10 would expand again.

One time I queued for a game of Casual but got put into a Mann vs Machine server where the spawn rate and AI level of the robot Snipers was massively increased, but for some reason it was still on Casual gamemodes like Payload and Control Points, and some human players were even able to play on the robots' team as well.

Confused, I left and queued again, only for the same thing to happen several times in a row. When queued for Mann vs Machine, I got put into a standard game on a standard MvM map without the turbo buffed Snipers. I found that match to be much more enjoyable and played there for a few more hours before I had my Fix. TF2.
