It might seem like a bit of an insult to call this "not quite Persona 5" but given P5's sheer quality and the eight years gap between the two releases I think it's a testament to the talented team that is Atlus. The plot certainly has some rough edges and a lot of the side characters this time around are entirely uninteresting but I was still gripped throughout the adventure and fell in love with the main cast with all their quirks and growth throughout this eighty hour experience. The soundtrack especially, much like that of its sequel, has been played on repeat during every journey I've taken since starting this game; it's rare to actually want to watch an opening cinematic on every single boot.

Once again there's an empty void in my life where I'm left wanting more. Persona may not be everyone's cup of tea I but strongly urge everyone to at least give it a try.

Game is unfortunately unplayable at this point. If you do happen to make it into an actual hunt the game will regularly freeze up for 30 seconds at a time. Possibly a memory leak issue as the game is reporting other applications using 12GB of VRAM which is absolutely not the case. Amazingly the first beta provided much better performance than this mess of a finished product.

Played for well over an hour and died to an RNG skill check to then find I had just the one autosave right at the start of the game. The gameplay and plot seem genuinely interesting but the game clearly has no respect for my time so I won't be giving it any more.

Using Linux users as a scapegoat for useless anti-cheat is a real poor effort. There goes all my hopes for a Titanfall 3 release as clearly these devs have completely lost it.

What a truly awful and extremely dated game. Next to no gameplay as combat is just occasional clicking and hoping that RNG goes in your favour.

Quite the departure from the campy action seen in prior entries to this franchise but that's by no means a bad thing. I found myself getting increasingly stressed as the game went on which is exactly what a horror game should do. The combat is pretty clunky at best but the story was engaging and actually features a twist that wasn't entirely predictable within the first 5 seconds of starting (looking at you Resident Evil 5). It doesn't quite reach the heights of RE4 but is worlds better than the stain on the genre that is RE6.

A short but enjoyable experience that makes me want to dive straight into the sequel.

Ubisoft strikes again. It's bad enough that you're forced to install Ubisoft Connect upon launching the game but even after jumping through hoops just to play a game you've paid hard-earned money for, all you're left with is a typical Ubisoft sandbox. Seriously not worth the bandwidth used to download it.

What could I possibly say that hasn't already? I really don't tend to bother with JRPGs as they simply do not interest me in the slightest, but after hearing the constant high praise this game receives I figured I'd give it a go. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. The music, the characters, the general presentation... Every part of the adventure has been an absolute joy.

There were a few teething problems early on and the plot does end up getting a bit too Japanese towards the finale. The combat system feels a little underutilised and the horribly low bitrate dialogue is downright painful to listen to at times but none of this stopped me from wanting more and more from the Phantom Thieves. I really cannot recommend this game highly enough.

I was initially put off playing this after hearing it was severely lacking in any actual gameplay but once hooked I found myself actually dreading the battle sequences as they entirely kill the pace. Digimon Survive isn't a particularly good game but it is a remarkable experience for any fan of the franchise, even those who may typically dislike visual novels (especially those with multiple translation errors like this). I've seen Survive described as "the best Digimon anime to date" and I feel inclined to agree. It's certainly a much darker and more mature story than usual with some genuinely shocking moments throughout. The game let's itself down slightly in the last few hours as story beats start to feel rushed and predictable though I can only speak for one of four possible endings.

Absolutely deserving of all the hype. A short and sweet story full of laughs backed up by an extremely polished and thoroughly enjoyable rhythm combat system.
