The game has been out almost a year (November 2022), I had some fun during and after the release, but the game got a bit repetitive and stale after a while. It also had some major performance issues. I thought I would return eventually once an interesting update came along.

Well there was the recent Class Overhaul Update now in early October 2023, and it has been fun playing around with talents, however I was very surprised to see that the game still suffers from very bad performance issues, something I really thought they would have fixed the performance issues by now.

As of 2024, things have gotten a bit better, but there still needs to be improvement. There is more content and gameplay to explore, which is great. But they really need to hammer down these technical problems.

There also is nothing to do after level 30 with a character except repeat more difficult missions in hope of getting better loot. There is no progression or special reward tiers or the likes to earn after hitting the cap.

I cannot recommend the game as is right now, hopefully they can put more work into the technical and progression aspect of the game, to make it work better.

Early Access Review
A fun and engaging game from Frag Labs, a Ukraine based video game developer in Kiev. Some devs have previously worked on Crytek games like Warface/Crysis and you can definitely see some of that influence here.

It has both PvP and PvE modes and I enjoy both.

The gameplay somewhat echoes Crysis, Valorant, Black Ops 4 and Dirty Bomb (miss that game with all my heart).

In PvP you get the fast-pace arena style gameplay mix of the games mentioned above along with an enjoyable Escort gamemode similar to Dirty Bomb/TF2 as well. There is also the classic Demolition (CS/Valorant/Search&Destroy) type gamemode to play where you have 1 life and need to plant the bomb.

You have several different operatives to chose from when you play, each with their distinct abilities and set of perks as well. These fit into various playstyles for both PvE and PvP.

You are also able to revive people in both PvP and PvE, but in PvP, most times medics just run past you anyway unfortunately.

PvE is fantastic though, I really enjoy it. It's upto 3-player co-op where you spawn into a huge map that have various objectives to complete. You can find and open supply bins on the way too, where you can choose a primary or secondary weapon, character abillity or various different unique PvE perks that make you stronger and able to play in various different ways. The options from the supply bins you find though are random.

In the PvE mode you meet various enemies of different difficulties and gain contamination as you play, which grows stronger the more you stay in the match. Once the contamination meter fills your team will gain a match debuff, which range from ranged enemies now burning you and dealing damage over time to a flying tentacle monster named a Chaser, that chases you occasionally and will eat your face unless you kill it before it is close enough for that deadly hug.

You can gain upto 5 different debuffs, at which point you will need to extract unless you are currently fighting the boss. To decrease contamination you can try and claim the various supply bins mentioned earlier, which will always spawn some type of enemy event where you have to do something to be able to unlock the supply bin. Sometimes you can also find the option to decrease contamination instead of a perk, but those occassions are rare.

You can however only decrease current contamination and the meter always resets and starts filling from the start after you gained a match debuff. So you can never remove debuffs once you have them in a match.

As you complete main objectives, which can be various bosses, capture areas and interactions, you will have the option to extract, and for each main objective you complete you can extract with more rewards, including blueprints.

If your whole team dies however during the PvE session you will only get half of your earnings.

Once you have completed 3 main objectives, you can then move onto the Envoy of the Voice, which is a boss, once completed you will gain the max amount of rewards you can gain per session.

One of the rewards of your PvE ventures, blueprints, can be used to purchase random modified weapons, which will be available in both PvE and PvP for you. The modified variants have unique skins and looks and a unique perk applied to them, like increased aim speed, rate of fire and in legendary modifications, strong unique perks that trigger in certain conditions.

You can also level your weapons by getting kills in both PvE and PvP and equip them with various skins, mods like red dots, suppressors and the likes. These modifications will also be available when you stumble upon your weapons in PvE supply bins.

I can highly recommend giving this game a try.

I will start with : I can definetly recommend this game

Review contains only minor spoilers

There are however, just like most games, some pros AND cons.

I want to highlight, that while I have 27 hours of gameplay, most of those hours was spent running around the first city, doing some side missions and generally exploring and getting upgrades. I was player rank 4 before I even started really digging into the main questline. I probably had around 22 or so hours before that, at which I had only completed the quests upto when you gain access to the PK location.

Now I wanna get my gripes out of the way, so here are the cons so far.

- Choices matter (story), it affects the world greatly. But the options are limited, which would be fine if you were able to make them more often. I got locked into the survivor faction side when I wanted to help out the PKs because of something that was discovered when I was helping the survivors, but I never had the choice to switch to the PK faction when I really wanted to, and storywise, it would make a lot of sense for Aiden to switch sides, especially after the information you learn. But somehow you are then entirely locked into that side and I had to reluctantly go along with trying to destroy the PKs when I actually wanted to join them, and I never got the chance to switch. This sucked pretty bad for me, as I ended up in a situation where I could not make the choice I really wanted to.

- The story is pretty good so far, but not groundbreaking. And unfortunately because of the issue mentioned above, some major moments in the story had less emotional impact than it was supposed to due to the fact I was reluctantly doing tasks I really did not want to do, as they were the opposite of what I wanted. So the consequences of those actions felt forced, since I never wanted to follow along with those actions, but was not given a choice.

- Coop gameplay can be really janky as enemies will desync etc, an issue that was rarely seen in the first game. If you have high ping the enemies will sometimes come at you when they are dead, becoming moving corpses that damage you. However this is less prevalent with lower ping, but can still occur.

- Drawing the bow gives a major fps drop, I usually go from 100 fps all the way down to 40 fps while the bow is drawn (Huh?)

- There are bugs here and there, but this is a frickin polished masterpiece compared to Cyberpunk or Battlefield. Nothing gamebreaking I have encountered so far.

- Some parts of the Dying Light 2 combat feels a bit wonkier than the previous game, not as fluid. Like the spikes, enemies no longer stick and get impaled on spikes like in the first game, but in general the combat is heavier and feels more impactful.

- This is a big con, once I completed the first area and went back, I could no longer do ANY sidequests, so the ones I was holding off were no longer a possibility, so all I can do in the first area is now only activities and explore. If I had known this earlier I would have completed all the sidequests before going to the next area.

- Another big con, after completing the first area and going back, a lot of the areas riddled with tougher enemies etc, were now empty and I could easily just go access the loot without a fight or anything. Not sure if a bug or if it is intended? The first area now feels very lackluster compared to before completing all the main quests in the first area.

- Some really bad keybinds, like whirlwind on Caps Lock? And you can't rebind them?

- I really wanna punch some characters in the face

- Survivor sense only works half of the time, sometimes you just can't use it for 10-30 minutes straight.

However, there is a ton of great stuff about the game too, and hence why I recommend it.

- Combat is amazing, it's really heavy and punchy, weighty and awesome. It feels responsive, impactful and you always feel like you are dealing damage, especially when you start getting into weapon mods. This is a clear improvement on the already good combat of the first game's combat, even if it feels a bit more wonky at times.

- Parkour and maneuvering is better than ever, it feels awesome as you run on the rooftops, clearing obstacles and having the music becoming more pumped up and intense, Aiden starts quipping when he get's in the parkour groove, it's very addictive, immersive and fun.

- New ways to traverse the environment, using things like ropes and the paraglider, you should definetly experience it for yourself, it is great. A great improvement on the first game's environtmental traversal.

- Very immersive. I don't wanna talk about this point too much, but I can just say that nights are very atmospherical, the setpieces are fantastic, everything feels well cobbled together, the world is breathtaking and beautiful with thought and love put into every inch of the map. Environment interaction that makes sense, the danger of entering restricted areas, the danger of turning without sunlight. It's all just so great! Get the game already! :P

- I really like the way you have to explore and find things like the Inhibitors to upgrade yourself, figure out how to get to it etc.

- I like the new leveling / upgrade system for your character as it rewards you for exploring and completing tasks around the world.

- The new armor system is actually really nice, I like how it changes your appearance and that each of the different types of armor pieces have specific roles and stats in mind.

- Puzzles and problem solving tasks in the game are really fun and creative.

Tons of more stuff to cover, but those are the main points, in general, the good things about the game far, far outweigh the bad. And in future updates I am sure they will fix most of the issues and address some player complaints as well. I am really addicted to this game and managed to get in my first 17 hours just during the first day of playing the game.

Buy the game and tell your friends, it's been really fun in co-op too, and most of the bugs are things you can laugh at with your friends, like a walking corpse (literally)

Now get out there and smash some zombie brains!

I can highly recommend this game if you like survival games. PvE is spectacular in this game in my own opinion.

I got this game the first day it released into EA, it was a fun game with friends with some unique features that I really liked, but back then I did not feel like it was for me.

Fast forward to 2019 April. I start playing again because I know there are now mods and I really wanted something chill to play, so I thought that Conan Exiles PvE would maybe be a good idea. This is probably the best choice I have made this entire year.

The PvE is great and the core game mechanics were a lot of fun so I decided to get my own PvE server and introduced the game to one of my friends who instantly fell in love. We had loads of fun and I started playing around with mods and learning to make custom NPCs through Pippi with MushiCode.

This lead me into modding, which I have made a mod that adds over 70 new weapons to the game, some unseen before in the game or other mods. I have even found a public PvE server that I love and I have had the most amazing time connecting with some Devs, Modders and the Community.

Of course there are always some Cons to a game, and everyone thinks differently, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the PvE atleast and would definitely recommend this as a PvE coop/MMO type game.

I would say try it for yourself, but if you feel the other reviews steer you too much away from getting the game, then do what you feel is right. :)

This is probably one of the best games I have played. Not best f2p game, best overall game. I have loved ever since I picked it up swriously in March of 2016. It is not a perfect game by any means, but it is very easily one of the best I have played. As a new player the time to kill can turn you off, but give it some time and you will grow to love the game, even if you are not super good with aiming you can pick up the medic class fairly easily and so well. And you will get better along the way. The game is very fair also with no real Pay 2 Win mechanics. All you can do is buy more nice looking loadouts for your characters, no particular stat changes from the loadouts you can easily get from playing the game a bit. If you have not tried it, give it a try! It is a fun fast paced shooter with lots of variety and 2017 has been full of new content for the game.

Game suffers from lags and stutters due to the insane amount of particles used. No matter what I do I get a low framerate. I have a GTX 970 and AMD FX8350 Eight-core. Should not be a problem to handle such a mediocre-graphical game.
