Game started out good, fun and enjoyable but later on it just becomes extremely tedious with nonstop traps and hazards that chunk your health and send you back. It just doesn't work with the movement and control the player has.

Frustration and tedium does not mean challenging. It completely killed my interest.

Go listen to the album Absent Moon when done with both games.

Hylics as a series is superb

Held my friend (cashier) hostage while I stack shelves for 2.5 hours. My autism is pleased

I wasn't expecting so many bugs in the tutorial after all that "labor of love"

While I love the gunplay and atmosphere (Especially the atmosphere, it's amazing) the devs thought that's the weakest part of the game and instead it's all stealth sections, on rails segments and boring dialogue after dialogue just standing there waiting for them to finish while my dumbass character just soullessly stares at them with 0 input.

Short and to the point, which was a breath of fresh air.
Quite janky, and the combat is okay.
The setting is the highlight, great introduction to the series which I'm looking forward to play.

If you're only playing 1 of the games, the other two are supposedly a lot better and fix the rough edges and jank, so I would skip this one

A lot of the reviews seem to be unaware they're reviewing the game and not the dev. I get you love your favorite streamer but this isn't his streams.

The game itself leaves a lot to be desired, majority of the gameplay is walking around (slowly) back and forth, interacting with an object/character for some story or one liners. I don't care for the humour and the story is basic yet serviceable.

There's a single combat encounter unless I missed another, it's a collection of minigames that flow well, would've liked one per chapter with a different set of minigames to keep it novel. There's also some simple puzzles that seem there more for flavour than challenge.

It's very short in its current form, I know it's early access but I honestly expected more for 6 years of EA. I'm hoping more time in the oven would help flesh out the story and give me a reason to care about the characters.

Tldr; Can't recommend it in it's current EA state, but there's hope for change with the full release.

Pretty much a perfect platformer, with lots of optional harder content for those wanting more.
Cute artstyle, a wholesome and relatable story + good ost.
Overall a great package
