Stability is horrible, had 3 crashes during 10 minutes of Gameplay, the rest of my play time was spent on trying to get the game to even go to the main menu.

Angola '86 is kind of niche when it comes to wargames, the focus of the game is in COIN-Ops against an enemy you rarely get to see. It is mostly about the logistics and reconnaissance aspect of the conflict, conducting patrols, winning the hearts and minds of the population and eliminating arms caches used by the guerilla fighters. All the while you have to manage the "political homefront" and the UN-Council until you are in a strong position against your foes.

It is way more in-depth than Afghanistan '11, the predecessor of this game, which also makes it more engaging, if harder to learn at first! That being said, if you already played A11 or Vietnam '65 you will feel right at home with the concept and some of the features.

The game still has a bit of work that has to be done, but the developer seems very passionate about the project and is very receptive to feedback and suggestions! Highly recommend keeping an eye on it, though I personally will wait until some of the stuff is improved before really diving in. As it is an early access title you have to expect many things being WIP, but trying it out now and giving feedback is the best way to help the developer improve on the experience!


Edit: I know it says I refunded the game, but I got it back on my Steam to support the developer! Just clearing that up.

Remember to enable autosaves, I had to learn this the hard way when the game crashed on me after 3 hours building a city... Actually, wait until they are done with the "public beta".

This game is, just like the 2 games before it, really awesome! I really like the immersion with the "Facenook wall" where people post things, and the fact that you actually interact with so many different people is very nice!

Every decision you make in this game matters, thats why I really enjoyed my first playthrough, and for 8€ this is a steal compared to the amount of work this games story took!
