As i inch closer to the magical 1000 hours on this game i thought i'd give a review another crack as my previous was (if i'm being honest) not an accurate representation of how i really feel about it.

i first bought this game Xmas day in 2017 as i'd heard only praise from my friends, and i thought to myself 'well hey, i've got some steam credit as a gift and may as well try something new', and boy was that a smart decision!

i'd play this game non-stop for months on end until i finally burnt out... and started a new farm, this cycle would occur a few more times over the next 4 and-a-bit years.

The only thing is i wouldn't call this a masterpiece, the schedule of tending to crops, fishing, mining and keeping hearts up for everyone became quite tedious and lacked any major alterations (although, a heart event would pop up every now and again). but in all honesty the previous quality of life issues i had with the game are now a thing of the past (especially with mods :D).

when i was going through some rough times in the past few years that same schedule of the game i'd groaned about earlier helped me keep on top of things keeping me calm and collected with Stardew valley as my very own escape from my troubles for an hour or two a day, which is why i've come to recently find an appreciation not only for those who struggle with life, but how much of a difference something like this game can possibly make.

The art style is second to none and whilst not unique seems to have it's own imprint that has become recognisable throughout gaming communities, and as a music student at university i cant help but adore the perfect use of the way certain keys in a song would speak a thousand words.

overall, i would recommend this game to anyone tossing up this purchase as you very well may find a new love and appreciation in life (although small for some, still great!). but there's one thing i forgot to mention for my fellow Australian's

THERE'S NO BLOODY VEGEMITE IN THE GAME!!!!!!!!!
