For people who are unfamiliar with idlers and would like to buy one but who also appreciate brotatolikes, this game is unmissable at $2.99. For these people, they would be foolish is they didn't buy it at whatever price the developer wanted.

This game would become a perfect brotatolike if the math systems behind the economy and the player and enemy stats were addressed, but the extent that that work would involve without using AI is insane and it would make the product better named as "Fight back from Death" or "Death Refought" rather than a simple update/erasure of this masterful idler.

I received the product for free from the developer, who is a friend and earnestly and promptly replied to an early version of this review. Game does not seem to have stickers from, I popped 29 achievements in a single play session and had been updated about monthly since launch-- highly recommended.

Early Access Review
I know the publisher, who is quite friendly and hardworking. I received this game for free and have spent a lot of time in this game in its pre-release stages, to the extent that I believe I've played it off steam because 1.1 hours definitely does not quantify the depth of the impression this game makes.

This game shines in being one of the least replayable roguelites I've ever seen, which is the exception to my rule that if a roguelite is not replayable, it is essentially a scam to steal your money. This game is not a scam.

It is a horde survival / survivorslikes type game (look at reddit if you don't know the genre tag) that is from the ground-up completely handcrafted and original. Don't buy this game today-- wait until the day you want to play a game, and buy it just for inspiration without playing it.

The game has infinite positive points and exactly two drawbacks:
• It is too easy, so the game is stagnant unless indiejoh makes a "hell mode"
• Not all game mechanics and strategies can be intuited by an experienced lover of survivorslikes, so like many indie games that are actually original and creative, it's so good at what it does that it earns a demerit point for being an honest to god real video game.

The game has a crazy back story, a great community of folks to discuss with, a great set of puzzles to learn the mechanics of, all with a veneer of a creative and addictive solitaire game. Really fun if you like card games, puzzles, and lore.

Great new game that brings a lot of the best elements of Metroidvania together in a really satisfying way without just cloning other popular titles of the season.

Features a great game map, with convenient fast travel while still giving you a feeling of risk as you explore and search for new fast travel/ save points. Great hack-and-slash feeling melee combat that doesn’t over rely on crazy parry mechanics (even while they are available).
Skill boosts come as tetriminos you need to arrange in a small grid, while merchants at the base can upgrade the size of the grid and sell various other upgrades.
Boss fights can be a bit redundant and feel slightly unfair, and the game doesn’t yet have difficulty settings, but it’s not really torturously challenging either.
The devs are very engaged and actively working on and releasing updates. The game has great sound and a nice aesthetic and graphics. The dark starting biome especially really immediately gives a feeling of Met. Dread, while other biomes are marked by colorful and lively palates— really looking forward to diving deeper into this one and would recommend for anyone who wants some hacking and exploration.

The positive and negative reviews are both completely valid. The game and its predecessor really shine in couch co-op metroidvania, and there's not tons of competition there, though this sequel seems to get some of the less fun parts of the original magnified. My gripes, since I have to mark this as positive-- in my house we're hooked on both games and will queue up to get a third installment:
- The crafting and resource system is actually insane. You always need more of resources that are impossible to get and there's no info in game about how you might go about getting them. All of the crafting and upgrading UIs are filled with junk and difficult to navigate-- for example you set course early in the game to build specific types of weapons and you have to constantly sift through the blacksmith to find one of two or three viable weapons for your skill tree or level out of hundreds of weapons and armor that don't match your skills or are under- or over-leveled for you. Absolutely frustrating.
- The game is filled with efforts to expand into multiplayer and factions and such that the original did not have. As other reviews note, none of this makes sense to the player or is explained well in the game, and honestly it's just an extra layer of confusing junk on top of a game that is already willfully weird and confusing at its core.
- The game is insanely grind-y, and the sequel has a mechanic that basically has you running around the same maps to kill the same Mage 'bosses' again and again to get salt (XP) to make a minor upgrade in your skill tree since the bosses will definitely not drop materials you need to upgrade your weapons-- the grind of this game is essentially repetitive boss rush mode compared to the original, which had more exploring the map to grind a level.
- The end of the game has you make a final choice you'll want to look up before selecting-- at least one choice will overwrite your save to a New Game + where you'll no longer have the traversal skills or runes needed to keep exploring the other late game activities. I have no idea why they don't just duplicate the save slots to have one before the final boss fight and one ready for NG+, but it's the reason I'll be trying to get my family into playing something else rather than playing this on and on and on.
