I love the gravity mechanic in this game, with its sandbox nature. The only problem with the game is the bugs, but I don't let that really get to me.

Ok, Seal the Deal.
Imagine a chocolate cake, or any sweet you like. You hear that your chocolate cake you like is getting some toppings, which would make it better, right? Now lets say, the toppings you were going to get come out, and they taste like dirt. That's how this DLC feels. Seal the Deal seemed just so grand the moment it was released, due to the love and compassion for A Hat in Time. Getting a new chapter AND a challenge system seems awesome, right? Well...

Let's start off with The Arctic Cruise. Very cool in concept, aboard a giant cruise ship worked by cute seals. The ship and rooms are all very beautiful, but there's a problem to it. There isn't enough levels. SPOILERS START- You begin by boarding on the giant boat, as the seals guide you throughout the boat to learn the layout. You learn that one of the seals accidently broke a time piece. So they have you search for shards to fix it. A good start, to get a feel for the main area being used. The next act has you become a worker for the cruise, in order for you to get a time piece from the captain. You run around picking up and delivering objects to people and rooms. A problem I have with this act is that its basically just a long Mario Party game, which you could get bored of after playing it once or twice. The problem with that is that it may discourage people to come back and play it unless if you have local coop. The final act is when the captain takes a break from steering, which leaves it open to Hat Kid, which crashes the ship. Due to the catastrophe, Hat Kid must go inside the tipped ship to rescue the passengers and seals, including the captain. SPOILER END- Can you see a trend between these three levels? It is that they are ALL collect-a-thons. No fights. No speedruns. No sneaking. No story driven platforming, as in platforming to one area to the next as a part of the story, such as going under Dead Bird Studio. Yeah, there are rifts, but the game shouldn't be focused on them, even if they tell exposition to the lore.

Oh boy, Death Wish. The main reason for my dissapointment of the DLC. So I'll start off with the first mission. Right off the bat, this mode tells you "Hey! This mode is HARD." Even being a challenge mode, the first level should never be as challenging as is. Each level gives 3 stamps, if you complete the extra challenges to them, with a total of 111 stamps. If it took me around 2-3 hours on the first level, this DLC would probably put me at over 100 hours if each level took that long. So let's talk about one of the most frustrating kind of levels, the time rifts. Each time rift comes back as a speedrun. When first released, they were simply just around 120 seconds to collect all rift pons, or complete within 90 seconds. Seemed fun, until Gears For Breakfast comes in an says "'Ey, who told you to have fun?" as they not only keep the 120 secs, but also invert the map and left and right directions. Now, it seems easy on paper. However, this is ONE OF THE MOST FRUSTRATING THINGS EVER. The only way I found to beat the level is to use the easy mode. Before I go on, I'll talk about me. I would consider myself to be an average gamer, not too bad, but not too good. I am a completionist though, despite how well I do at a game. For the first few levels of the game, I thought "I wanna complete on normal mode, as I am not a whiny bad gamer." But as playing through it, I realized this... Should NOT be this hard, especially for the audience of A Hat in Time. I'm talking Darker Side from Super Mario Odessey has nothing on these levels. I've only seen a few good levels, like Boss Rush (although I used ez mode bc I gave up then), and a few of the ACTUAL speedrun levels. It feels as if Gears For Breakfast thought that Hard=Good Gameplay, which was DEBUNKED BY THE ORIGINAL F**KING GAME. I know I can be called out for being hypocritical/whiny, but I only look for completion.

So I received this DLC for free on launch (thank god) and feel like it was rushed. Or Gears is too lazy on DLC. My point is that if you aren't a video game god looking for a nightmare, this may not be for you. Unless you want to attempt all achievements and are just interested in Arctic cruise, I suggest just watching a playthrough. Overall this DLC was overhyped. I would have rathered a DLC that took two years with a decent amount of heartfelt content rather than sloppy garbage this was.

tl;dr: Arctic Cruise is too short and repetitive, Death Wish makes me wish for death.

Its a great game to play. I usually never write reviews, so this is big. Its like your playing guitar hero, and you wonder,"I wish my favorite song was on here,(If its not)" Then this is the game for ya! You can play to almost every song on this game. Yeah, its pretty cool right? GET THE GAME!!!
