Redoing my initial review after 50 hours of playtime.

It's been a while since I've played such a refreshing game. Its premise is simple, but its execution is incredible. This brings me back to the days of Killing Floor 2 when it first came out. Some call the game "repetitive" but it grants you a well oiled sandbox where every match feels fresh and different.

One of the biggest things about this game is it has consistent battle passes being added with new weapons, armor and other items but they don't go away. You can unlock any of the passes at any rate at any time. In addition, you can unlock the passes with premium currency just by finding the currency in the world. This motivates exploring the map and elicits a proper moment of excitement because exploration is rewarded with ACTUAL in-game value. Other live service games could truly learn a lesson from Arrowhead here. It's quite ironic that Sony bought Bungie to "learn" from them how to make a true live service game only for Arrowhead to come out of nowhere and drop the arguably BEST live service game in the modern era. Get gud, Bungie and stop treating your players like products only.

All the weapons and combat feel amazing as well. Guns have active reloads where if you interrupt the animation by diving, your character picks up where they left off upon resuming reload. Rounds in chambers are accounted for, for example if you pull the trigger in the middle of a partial reload you fire ONE round, which is realistic. You lose ammo by reloading a partial mag as well, though it saves a little time. There is also a team reload option for heavier weapons where allies can reload FOR you speeding up fire times. Overall the gameplay is very smooth and crisp, and honestly the first person gun animations are nearly on par with COD in terms of smoothness and quality. I'd play in a first person mode exclusively if the game had it.

And don't get me started on all the additional stuff like dropping gigantic bombs onto bugs, using incendiary grenades, gatling sentry turrets, jump packs...there's so much here to experiment with. Nearly every gameplay aspect is very well thought out and balanced.

And don't get me started on the scenery either, there are some truly beautiful alien worlds you visit and they EXUDE mystery. It makes me want to explore and learn more about what happened.

Lastly their way of updating the game is BRILLIANT and makes you WANT to join in. Stealth updates where new enemies are silently released to begin harassing unaware players, new toys like mechs being unlocked by liberating key locations in game, all lead to a community driven experience. Every player actively contributes to driving the narrative and in game experience. Frankly I'm in for the long haul if Arrowhead continues like this. Love, love, love it!

Lightfall had some good parts, but overall it was pretty disappointing.

Story made no sense and was a mess.

Campaign had fun moments but had more filler than Witch Queen.

The Neomuna city was gorgeous on the surface but has no real depth or exploration.

Some of the weapons I wanted the most were for SOME REASON not made craftable when other weapons in the same set were. Wtf Bungie? In addition the very cool unique weapon models showcased in the gameplay trailers that uh...didn't exist? And they only added ONE of them months after release. Talk about false advertising.

Raid was the only decent thing from this expansion in my opinion.

I'm teetering on the edge of quitting D2 entirely after waiting years for Bungie to bring back some of the weapons and activities that I loved from the vault, but instead they reskin another blue weapon model for "new" seasonal sets. Armor is almost entirely weird and fantastical with very little grounded or militaristic sets anymore (yes this is subjective).

It's odd because the game has gotten a huge slew of QOL updates in the past year, fixing tons of small headaches that have persisted for a long time. The game feels GOOD to play and is so fun with friends, but the actual content is just utter crap lately. It feels like Bungie KNOWS what players want and instead opts to make ANOTHER reskin, ANOTHER Dreaming City season using all the same locations and weapons (how about ANOTHER refresh of dreaming city weapons, for the third time? ) It's just exhausting and a complete disrespect of a player's time.

Perhaps it's silly but there are some weapon groups that simply get no love. For example, there hasn't been a single craftable void SMG, but multiple arc, solar, and strand ones. The only good void SMG hasn't dropped since freaking Witch Queen man! Nor is there a single Void Auto rifle, but sure let's add another high impact solar or strand 360, cuz why not. Or how about another CRACKED bow that already has multiple duplicate archetypes and elements? It's just goofy. Loot should be a priority in this game, not leaving players begging for just...ONE...weapon in a certain archetype.

Final shape better blow every previous content attempt out of the water or D2 is DEAD. Player counts speak for themselves. I haven't felt motivated to go for Conqueror in the last few seasons when previously it was the ONE thing that kept me going. All my friends have quit Destiny so raids are nearly impossible to finish. It truly is a sad day with all the time and fun I've had in this game with my wife and I playing all content for years side by side.

I'm primarily a fan of Battlezone 98 Redux and Combat Commander, but back in my day we actually had an old 386 with the DOS version of the original Atari Battlezone. So I still appreciate what this game attempts to do here. Overall, its a good and fun game.

Movement wise it doesn't hold a candle to Battlezone 98 or CC, but it does do a great job with the cockpit view feeling very immersive to pilot the tank. The animated interior, being able to see the cannons outside reloading and swapping is very cool. Gunplay feels impactful and satisfying. I love how the enemy tanks explode into bits, and you have to contend with long range and short range enemies, in addition to aerial combatants.

As a casual enjoyer of this game I quite like it, but I hope Rebellion can take the good parts of this title and push forward with a new entry to the Battlezone franchise that leans more into Battlezone 98 and CC than this.

Not much else I can add on to the already very positive score but...having played the original, my biggest complaint was the clunkiness of the gameplay. The remake fixed that and it just feels so smooth and nice to play while still being challenging. This game has basically no downsides I can think of either game wise or from a technical standpoint. Keep making games like this Capcom and I will keep buying them 😂

What a hugely ambitious and brilliant game. I was not expecting such a huge variety of puzzles and activities with a full fledged GOOD story. The relationship advice while cheesy at times is actually quite good lmao (played through it with my wife). 9/10 game with only a couple tedious parts but overall a mind blowing experience thats a ton of fun.

Not just a perfect example of a remake done right, but a GAME done right. Runs well at launch, amazing attention to detail, overall this seems to be a masterpiece of both nostalgia and brand new wonder.

EA Motive, you NAILED this. Please continue working on Dead Space material!!!

Short, but beautiful, chaotic and just fun. Writing and voice acting is not very good but I can excuse that haha. Just extremely tight and satisfying shooting, crazy bosses, over the top action. Feels like Shadow Warrior and Destiny combined sort of. All guns have really cool alt fires, that actually do something, like a rocket launcher on a pistol WTF! Highly recommend and I hope this developer releases more gameplay someday.
