Terrible balancing philosophy

The core base gameplay is fun but everything surrounding it including the things I just mention just ruin the experiences.

Early Access Review
Killing floor 2 does everything Killing floor 1 but better, Mostly everything.

Killing floor 2 is a Wave-based horde shooter where a group of up to 6 players must kill Zeds, get cash, use that cash to buy bigger, nastier, more powerful weapons, and repeat the process again. It features a class type system where each class has unique beneifts and buffs for certain weapons, In killing floor 1 they had 6, in Killing floor 2, they plan for 10. Goodie.

The animations and gun motion are smooth and great, highly detailed especially during the Zed time (Solo mo), as well as the melee weapons with difference animations for each swings depending on your movement and each swing giving off a different feedback and response from the Zed.

The gore and M.E.A.T system are great and detailed as well, very bloody (however the blood itself just looks silly and Jam like once its everywhere), however it lacks impact as most of the gore and dismemeberment cant not be achieved while the Zed is alive, hopefully they change this.
With the new shared content sword in Patch 8.15 the player can somewhat see the dismemberment~ish.

The game also introduces new attack moves and patterns the Zeds use as the diffculity gets higher, an example is a standard clot will only walk towards you on Hard or lower diffculty, on Suicidal or higher they start running and lunging at you.

The sounds of the game is perfect, makes your weapons feel really powerful and with the animations, feels and looks amazing. Unloading 20 shotgun shells from a AA-12 into a scrakes feels satisfying and great, untill you realized its still alive and your gonna get Rekt. The music is also fitting, heavy metal and/or rock.

However, this game also has many problems, heres some of them:
  • Teleporting Zed, while they don't teleport completely behind you, they still teleport pretty close and the spawning spots are completely unfair, running away from a mob to only have Zed spawn infront of your path to block you, seems legit.
  • The game balance is a joke, while they are constantly buffing and nerfing classes, weapons and Zed, some weapons and classes are clearly better then others. Any idea why the medic assasult rifle is equals to a Scar or why the Medic shotgun does the same as the AA-12?.
  • Some of the perks need a revamp, rebalance or just be completely replaced, some perks are obviously better then others
  • Commando seems like a nobody class, only able to be good at small Zed killing while other classes excel at both small and big Zed killing.
  • Personal favorite The SG 500 Pump-Action shotgun (The starting shotgun) still is unable to 1 shot kill a Gorefast with a meatshot.

With patch 1015, they added the Zedconomy (Skin, case system shop) for skins, while just cosmetic only i can't help but feel they could have spent their time on better things *Ahem, more perks*

The game is amazing and is worth the price tag, but after a fair amount of play (roughly 1 or 2 weeks) the game gets really dull until new content, its still however in "early acess" and they intend to add more content and rebalance some of the problems.

Please note that the game itself is very slow in terms of content updates:
  • September 2015: 2 perks, 13 weapons, 2 characters, 2 maps (4 Months)
  • December 2015: 1 boss, 1 perk, 6 weapons, 1 character, 2 maps (3 Months)
  • April 2016: New PvP moode that nobody plays (4 Months)
  • June 2016: 1 perk, 5 weapons, 1 character, 2 maps (2 Months)


    so if you want a consistant updated game, look else where.

Press F to do everything the game, and i love it
Police forces have thousand of men that you shoot, and i love it
Constantly spam G to pick up and throw bags of loot to a location, and i love it
Constantly shooting respawning snipers in the same location, and i love it
Fixing a broken peice of ♥♥♥♥ drill, ♥♥♥♥ that ♥♥♥♥.

9 drills out of 10 i would fix again.

Microtransactions have ruined the game, check the Payday 2 Steam page review section Rofl
Apparently the game is no longer Pay to Win

Now playing this game brings back old memories as i was a vet Gunz player and when i heard about the second installment, i was excited to play.

Gameplay 6/10: Gameplay is somewhat the same as the original but with some new mechanics such as the shield user and the skill system(seems a little bit OP if you ask me). However the sword play seems to be dum-downed as "K-style or BF-style" was removed (old gunz players will know) leading to a more gun focus gameplay.
The game also has a class type system but i find that stupid as some of the classes are clearly more OP then others, an example would be max the shield class where he can't get knockback while shooting and every combo he has knocks you down ~.~. The game also gives each character a active ability by lvl 10, these abilities seem to have no cooldown and is abusable.
The biggest downside of the game for me aleast is there is no actual severs for Gunz 2, instead it uses a "Host player connection type" meaning everybody has to connect to the Host (So if the Host is Australian, everybody else who in the U.S will be experiencing 200+ ping lag) which sucks, also some of the weapons such as the smg in lag seem to never hit at all or feel like rubber. Hopefully they get actual severs later on.

Interface 8/10: easy to navigate and use, good stuff.

Art 6/10: Not the worst art i have seen but nothing impressive, the map designs and art/color could have also been better for a 2014 release.

P2W or F2P?(this is subject to change anytime): Having a look in the shop currently there isn't much P2P items that can give premium users a edge over winning but i do see a gamble shop for premium to get a slightly more upgraded ver. of a weapon, these small upgrades do matter and do completely break the game sometimes. "Somewhat P2W more"

Overall fun game but the amount of lag really hinders the score 5.5/10

very fun game i granteed you won't give it up for a while and even if you doo, you'll be playing it again as soon the next update is out. the only real problem i have in the game is some of the classes are just OP *cough zerker cough*
