Early Access Review
Jumping in on early access Alpha 11 so not a finished highly polished game yet but there is plenty to like already and I know it's going to be good coming from the same devs that made Prison Architect. The ship systems and mechanics are already nicely done but I'd like to see the ship crew get some more personalisation ala PA, perhaps having a named captain and some officers that go along with the general crew would add more crew personalisation so they feel more than just ship full of worker drones.

The 3D map graphics are poor and lack clarity. Panning the map when zoomed in is difficult, not sure if it's supposed to be locked in place or it's just janky because sometimes it moves and sometimes not. Most annoyingly every player action is presented as a full screen popup and interacting with some of these popups to select and discard cards/tickets is confusing. Overall the UI/UX is pretty bad, elements are nicely themed visually but it's painful interacting with popups all the time.

I think a lot of the issues probably come from the game being made for mobile devices and playing on PC unfortunately suffers for it.

Classic Carrier Command from the 80's. The newer Carrier Command games are better by today's standards but the original game is still good and worth checking out if you can get it on sale for under a fiver. The text is easier to read if you play at 4:3 ratio but there is a launcher with various display and scaling settings. I see some other reviews mentioning lack of option to lower mouse sensitivity but there is an in-game option to lower mouse sensitivity aside from the sensitivity setting on the launcher. I lowered it to .75 or .5 sensitivity.

Got the game when it came out in early access and the devs have done a great job improving it since. I highly recommend it if you're into naval sims.

I really like the gameplay, it is quite unique compared to other strategy war games and has a strong focus on logistics as well as fighting. It is a bit tricky to understand fully how to play even after the tutorial missions but once you understand all the little nuances from repelling enemies to managing villages and resources it is a really good turn based strategy game.

I think with some minor improvements to the UI the game would really shine more and be a bit easier to play. Something as simple as separating unit types such as mortars in the FOB unit list might make managing units easier. Overall though I recommend the game, just don't panic if you go into negative political points, it is possible to swing things back when you get to grips with the various mechanics.

Good story based game that has mystery and exploration. About 4 to 5 hours long and definitely worth a play through.

If you like tactical turn based games like XCOM and want something similar but different then more than likely you will enjoy this. It might not be quite as gripping as some of the previous XCOM games but there is plenty going on to provide many hours of enjoyment. It can get a little bit repetitive and tedious at times but upgrading your troops and bases and pushing back the aliens from taking over the world are all compelling enough to keep on playing. The weapon aiming mechanic and blowing off limbs to hinder character abilities is also a really nice feature.

Really good entry to mid level game maker for 3D games. GameGuru Max has a lot of improvements over it's predecessor GG Classic.

The story board editor is so useful for connecting levels and screens and you can also use it to edit HUD screens and loading screens. It gives you the control to easily pull a whole game together.

The new behaviour system is also a joy to use and allows you to quickly add logic to your game and characters without having to code although if you want to go advanced with LUA to script your own behaviours you can.

There's a lot of assets included and a character creator too so you can quickly get into making a game without having to source models elsewhere or you can use your own or third party assets too if you want to. The themed DLC packs are a nice way to provide additional content that is out-of-the box ready to go without any importing fuss.

At the moment there are a few bugs and incomplete map to storyboard connection issues but hopefully these will be fixed and polished in future updates. Also it's worth noting that currently GG MAX is mainly for FPS games. You can create a shooter, puzzle or RPG game with inventory and quest system but currently there is no third person perspective or vehicle control. Hopefully this will be expanded on in the future.

Overall I recommend GG MAX for indie game creators that want to have a fun FPS game making experience.

Really quite a good hack and shoot game. Lots of loot items and deep skill tree with a nice variety of attack mechanics. Good monster and level variety too. Music is probably the weakest part, it's not terrible but it's all a bit dreary and gets repetitive. You have a ghost companion and there is some nice dialogue so it's good single player and I imagine it is even better multiplayer. Good game, recommended.
