After reaching almost 1.000 hours of Gems of War, it's finally time for a review.

Gems of War is a strategygame based on match-3. You mostly fight a 4vs4 battle with your troops, while you collect mana with matching the certain colors of the board.

Mainly you do battles, to collect ressources, to unlock new kingdoms, level them up, collecting troops and also leveling them up and activate their traits to have more power in battles.
There are many hundreds of different troops already and there are weekly new ones added, which offers you so many strategies and tactics for all various battles.

Besides leveling up kingdoms etc, you have almost every day a event you can play. For some players it is something special and attractive, while others see it more as pressure, because they feel forced to play it. Sadly there are tons of negative reviews because of the amount of things and events you can do daily/weekly in the game.

Joining a guild in this game is very important and highly recommended. A guild will give you so many ressources and a lot of boni for fights and other things. Also there are many guildevents to play with your guildmates to unlock rewards together or to climb up the leaderboard.
Some guildevents require good teamplay and this is something, what I really like. A global chat and a guildchat is available in the game, which makes the communication easy and beginners have a direct way to communicate with others and to ask questions. The Gems of War-community is really helpful and always there to help out beginners with questions and guides.

The Game is free to play, but there are some offers in-game to spend some money. If you started the game and you felt in love already, then I can recommend the deathknight-armor. It will grant you a bonus on Gold, Souls and XP forever and makes your progress way easier. There are a lot of other offers like troops, traitstones and so on, but in my opinion they are not really worth, since you can get the most stuff really fast with some grinding.
The Game is for sure NOT pay to win, since you can get everything by yourself if you invest some time.

Sometimes there are some frustrating matches, when your opponent gets an endless loop or receives an lucky skyfall (new gems dropping down to the board). But I made the experience, that this "luck" in the game is pretty balanced. Sometimes it feels really rigged but in other battles everything is working perfect for you. So don't give up to early, if you feel all this negativity :D

The early- and midgame are pretty fascinating, because you have so much things to discover and with almost every battle you have some progress. On the other side while in my opinion the endgame is pretty boring, if you got most of your kingdoms on the highest level, most troops, which are fully traited and so on, then the game becomes more a "routineplaying" and the only goal you can achieve are to climb some leaderboards.

Also a very positive point are the developers itself. They are streaming very regulary, answering questions from players, do little giveaways and most important react to suggestions by players and often add these suggestions to the game after some time.
This game is regulary updated with new stuff and fixes. So you can always expect new things.

The Underworld is pretty new and my absolute favourite thing in this game. It is a very awesome competition to solve the higher levels, to keep the patience and concentration, because one mistake could probably cost you the whole battle there. It is also the best adress to receive the most rewards.

I highly recommend this game, who loves match-3 games.

Thank you for this cute pets!
