I only came back to this store page because of my occasional marathons of reviewing games I've previously played. Haven't touched this one in several years.

So, this bastardization of the original Ace of Spades is no longer available to play? Good riddance.

I really don't know what to say here. More boring than Left 4 Dead, more boring than Zombie Master, and more boring than various zombie mods in other source engine games.

At least it's free.

Half-Life 1 is an incredible game that beats out Half-Life 2 any day of the week.

This game allows you to play through the entire campaign of Half-Life 1, and much more, with other people online. Do I have to say anything else?

The last good official Sonic game.

And with Sonic Frontiers looking like garbage, this will continue to be the last good official Sonic game.

Early Access Review
An FPS that I think is much better than both Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. I'll admit I'm not very skilled at it, but infinite ammo and heal-on-damage allow for some extremely aggressive gameplay, not wasting the player's time with resource management. While killing trash mobs is always a joy, the boss fights are even better, providing some real challenge even on Standard difficulty.

Unfortunately though, the game's early access phase is going at a snail's pace. I bought it in September 2021, and from the way things have been turning out, the full release definitely isn't happening in 2023. If you've been waiting for that, you're probably going to keep waiting a lot longer.

If you're familiar with Team Fortress 2, I doubt you'll like this game. I certainly don't. The classes all feel less polished to play (especially Spy), and grenades provide an entirely different metagame than what you're used to. You essentially have to rewire your brain just to comprehend what's going on.

If you really want to try getting into the original Team Fortress, I would recommend playing Fortress Forever instead... you know, if it had any active servers left.

The best platformer I ever played, period. Nothing else I tried even comes close to the insanely fast pace of this game. Mario games? Slower. Sonic games? Usually fast, but harder to control. The End is Nigh? Slower still. Celeste? Haven't tried yet but probably not as good. Super Meat Boy Forever? ...I'm sorry, what's that?

Oh, and one more thing: Don't you fúcking dare switch out Danny B's 2010 soundtrack for the 2015 soundtrack.

Fraymakers, but before Fraymakers. And even long before this game got workshop support, I had a good time with it. Easily the best platform fighter on Steam's marketplace, and something that could be considered a close competitor to Smash Bros. Melee and Project M. Just moving around the characters feels very satisfying.

But I will be honest with you. Most of the hours I've invested in the game were on the sound test menu, listening to Flashygoodness' incredible soundtrack on loop. I'm not even fúcking kidding. I've since wised up and downloaded the soundtrack locally, but it's impossible to gain those hours back. Time well spent?

This is one of those games that really stuck with me in my childhood, and I still play from time to time. Short but sweet, great variety in towers and enemies, many optional challenges, and a soundtrack that could be in your head forever. Perfect in every way.

But it's also the most tragic game ever made. Something truly exceptional, and then EA buried it in their personal hell. I saw the composer, Laura Shigihara, talk passionately about the game all these years later, and it just broke my fúcking heart.

Early Access Review
As someone who has played Cuphead's shoot-em-up bosses dozens of times, I very much enjoy this game. It has an appropriate difficulty curve, well-integrated roguelike elements, and a metric ton of content variety. It's not perfect, as there are reused assets everywhere and too many cutscenes for my liking, but its strengths far outweigh its weaknesses.

And to think that the game isn't even finished yet... ♥♥♥♥ is insane for an early access title.
