I played the vanilla version back in the day. And decided now that I have a newer rig, lets replay this game cranked up to 4k 120fps. I still enjoy this game. I agree with others; the color grading seems strange. But I have zero performance problems at all. I think those issues have been worked out. I don't LOVE this game. But I still really like it. My biggest complaint is that every area is kinda the same, each area has about 3 enemies. Kinda all arranged the same. Some wild. Some gang. Etc. Its a bit copy and paste that way. I think the really sad thing is, despite this game's flaws, and AA quality, I still enjoy this game more than Starfield. This gave has personality. I actually like the dialogue. I like the combat. Sure, its could use a little more variation, but it doesn't feel like work that Starfield managed to do with its game mechanics.

A truly delightful game. I am very 50/50 when it comes to puzzle games but I love this series so much. It gives slight Myst vibes but without every making your feel dumb or stuck.

This is easily the best in the series, but please start at the #1. They are all worth playing. I can not wait until the next one is released.

I love boomer shooters. I literally grew up with Doom, Duke 3d, Shadow Warrior, Blood, Redneck Rampage, Blood, Rise of Triad, Wolf 3D, Hexen/Heritic. You name it. If it had a gun and ran on a PC I played it.

I have played a lot of the new boomer shooters and love them. While this one does not have my favorite settings or graphics out of the modern boomer shooters like Prodeus and Ion Fury, the gameplay and gun play is some of the best I have ever felt. Keyboard and mouse or controller, the movement and shooting is so fast yet so tight, just like many of the old boomer shooters used to be.

I played the entire first episode before realizing there is an HD version of this game which I am using now for the rest of the game, but honestly both are fine. I would not mind at all playing the original version of this game.

A fantastic remake to one of the greatest games of all time. I have finished the original probably 5 times over the course of my life. Still remember buying it in a slim box from the bargain bin at Babbage's games nearly 25 years ago. The game blew me away then and the remake still retains all those things that made the original so good. This game is a reminder that so much of gaming has become so casual and holds your hand too much. System Shock, both the original and the remake have problems. Back tracking is a problem in this genre of games and System shock suffers from it big time. If its your first play through you probably will find your self back tracking 2 maybe 3 or 4 times to find items and codes you never realized you needed until later in the game. That aside, this game is simply amazing at its complex design that is very not linear except that you need to progress level by level. The levels themselves offer no clue where to go, simply explore every inch and corner.

So many games have terrible boring stories and pointless colletables. This game has 151 emails, data sticks, and audio logs, and every one tells a bit of the story and lives aboard the station. You WANT to find these. Its easy to see where Prey gets its inspiration from (sadly it also suffers from back tracking issues almost in the entire 3rd act as well)

How does the remake stack up against the original? Amazing. The graphical style is fantastic and this game looks gorgoures. But still feels retro at the same time. The layout of the levels and secrets are almost 95% identical if not even more. Of course they added more modern qaulitry of life playablity but they also added some better content to the game to make even more fleshed out in the RPG aspects. This game was a true pleasure to play through in this form. Its a real shame this genre is so lacking and to hear that Dues Ex was getting a new entry only for Embracer group to kill Dues Ex forever after canning the project just a couple months ago. The folks who made Prey have all left the studio. The only hope we have is System Shock 2 remake, System Shock 3 which seems to be in limbo. And maybe a new Bioshock, but with none of the original Bioshock team working on it, I am not holding my breathe.

The sad truth is there is no other game like ED out there. Star Citizen is a scam... It doesn't have persistence, and probably never will. And until ScamCitizen adds permanent persistence, and trust me, it NEVER will, because they like raking in the million from their undying clan of Koool-aid drinkers far more than they want to make a finished game.

At the end of the day I can't recommend this game because the dev is not good. It says I have 80 hours, but really I have 500 hours. I bought this game again on Xbox and easily have another 400 hours on that consol. I even bought a special Xbox only HOTAS just for ED. And what does Frontier do? That cancel and stop ALL production and updated for ED on console. You can't even use third party sites like EBBD to map trade routes anymore because that info is only good on the PC version. Then given the sorry stare that Oddessy launched on the PC, that should be all you need to know. Demand better. They release broken DLC, 2 years later, still not fixed. They abdondon half their existing fans... because.

No way should you support a dev like this.

Early Access Review
Edit: 3 playthroughs now. 3rd playthrough was longer than 1 and 2 combined. Not just bc of the added content but I simply didn't want it to end and took my time with things I didnt really need to bother with like awesome long train lines and indoor factories. Hiding as many of my tubes and belts as I could.

This game is crack for me. I can't explain why the gameplay loop is so addictive. I am just making flim flams out of sprockets and need more screws to do so. But I need more ore to make the ingots to double up my screw production. How is that one of the most addictive gameplay loops every created? I have no idea but it is.
I have done 2 playthroughs if you can call it that. The moment V1.0 is release I am going to jump back in and start all over again.

No way. This DRM nonsense is unacceptable. If it was known before launch, it would be a different story. It would give us time to cancel pre-order or wait to buy the game until this is straightened out. This is unacceptable to add such DRM AFTER a game has been paid for and then not offer or allow Refunds. Which steam is not allowing. Me and many other have had all refund requests denied even when talking directly to steam help regarding this problem. I won't be buying any more games through steam for the foreseeable future (or Bethesda at all).

Edit 2: Just beat the game. The boss was a joke. Not only the easiest boss in the game, but completely underwhelming. This game felt so pointless, why? The Surge 1 was so much better of a game.

Edit: I have played this game a lot, but I am still not changing my recommendation. This game does NOT look good. The lighting it terrible. The first game was better, tighter. Also I stopped counting crashes around 35. I am sure it has crashed more than 40 times. A lot of people are getting the same type crash, some vulcan error. No patch. No fix. I can't support games that aren't beta tested before launch. My crashing is just one of ten differnt major issues people are running into that make the game unplayable or extremely frustrating to play. If this game didnt save almost every 15 sec, there is no way I would have been able to keep playing after so many crashes.

Stay away from this game until they fix it and patch the living daylight out it. I loved Surge 1. I even gave copies away to my friends that loved dark souls but were not sure about it.
I bought this game on Day 1 because I wanted to support this dev. There is so much wrong with this game, the help forums is already 47 pages deep with a 1000 differnt errors and problems that we are all having, The first patch did nothing to help me and most other people.

First thing the game is unplayble. It has crashed 7 times in 2 hours. 2080ti with up to date drivers. Keep getting vulkan command run error.

Aside from that this game looks horrid. The lighting/gamma/saturation/brightness is terrible. It makes this game looks far worse than the last one. There is no gamma correction in the game, but it cranked up to max. If there is something bright in the background for example, the your character and any other are bascily just black blobs. You can be standing in a room where on area is FAR too bright and oversatured, and then where it should be just a little dark, is totally pitch black. Even in this case, the gamma is cranked to 11 so there is a hazy white film bloom to everything.

I hate that I can't recomended this game.
