my favorite video game. the very game that got me into pc gaming, steam, hell my first steam review was a positive review, for tf2. that was many many years ago. back when valve still cared, when valve still seemed to give a ♥♥♥♥ about tf2. tf2 has gone through the most neglect and mistreatment i have ever seen from a video game. and it all began in 2016. the Meet your Match update could go down as one of if not the worst update in video game history. almost every problem with modern day tf2 can all be traced back right to that single update. that single massive ♥♥♥♥ up valve rather then fix doubled down on then gave up entirely. why? because tf2 had to be valves third big e sports title. it had to make them not the current millions it makes, thats not good enough for valve. it had to make billions. casual and competitive are two big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ jokes that have never worked right. competitive is entirely abandoned and continues to be completely broken because nobody asked for or wanted that in tf2, but this is what valve catered to. not the majority of the tf2 player base, but the 5% that plays competitively, because tf2 has to be like counter strike and dota. its gotta be a esport now. casual barely functions to this day, and if your not playing 4 select maps (of over 100 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ maps) it taking 5 or 6 minutes to find a match, if it ever finds one. those smaller game modes? what about passtime? yeah good luck. it will never find a match. game after game being a flatout 2 minute stomp because the teams are extremely off balanced. all problems previously never had with the quick play system. and almost every "fix" they have thrown at casual, were all features off the quick play system that got removed with its sudden removal. nobody wanted quick play gone nobody asked for it to be gone, hell nobody knew it was gonna be gone they just removed it right out of the blue and told no one! because tf2 has to be a esport. what about the bots? yeah it was sometimes a issue before but just kick them and move on it was always just one then gone, but now with casual, they came in swarms. waves. filled entire lobby and you couldn't do ♥♥♥♥ about it. 9 years that's been a problem., and guess what it still is. all thanks to the match making system cause remember, tf2 is a esport now. oh yeah remember that whole meme about 1 janitor at valve was the only guy working on tf2? yeah that turned out to be true. but somehow even worse. it wasn't even a valve employee but a contractor for valve who tried to play tf2, was pissed it was so broke and he couldn't play the damn game with friends so he asked valve if he could fix it. yeah. valve knew of tf2s state, and gave no ♥♥♥♥♥. why? cause its still making them money. 2016 is the pinpoint downfall of tf2. its been a long fall since. but wait! tf2s player counts have been higher every year! thats not true! yeah, no. bots. more then 70% of tf2 player counts are all bots. that 170,000 people online? bull. 20k-30k is the actual number. still a decent chunk yes, amazing for a nearly 20 year old game. but if it had been any other game that had tf2s mistreatment, abuse then flatout abandonment, it would of been dead right at 2016. players left in swarms after the meet your match update, i should know i was one of them. for nearly 2 years after i didn't touch tf2. my favorite video game, i uninstalled and said my goodbyes to, all. because. of valve. hell, if any other company had done this they would of been publicly executed on the spot, can you imagine if ea did this with one of their games? it would have been on every game new article every youtuber would be all over it but oh no this is good ol valve we are talking about. valve is your friends! valve loves its players! they made really good games 20 years ago! they can do no wrong! valve doesn't view everyone as numbers in their bank statements. and what happened when everyone did finally raise their voice. #Savetf2 remember that? valve responded! they said they hear us! they care too! they are gonna fix and care for tf2 despite what the past 9 years have shown us! banned bot wave, that was it. they banned some bots (which btw most of them are back now like nothing happened) and they punished the free to play players, disabling being able to speak if you didn't make a purchase in game in a attempt to stop the bots spamming the n word, at the cost of every free to play player. guess what. that did nothing. cause all the bots paid to have their voice back, and valve made BANK off it. every single request, every single plea begging everything we asked of valve, was ignored. hell it seemed if their was a worst possible option, it seemed valve picked that every single time, valve has no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea how to run tf2, and as of few days ago have given up entirely. tf2 SDK was released a few days ago, the game is open source now. this is putting tf2 out to the pasture, they are done. they give up. tf2 didn't turn into its third billion dollar making sweaty esport title, they have a new team based esport to make billions of sweaty dollars off of. so now they are just gonna suck every penny out of tf2 till its dry. i garentee we will never see another tf2 update again. only if tf2 goes down and stops making them money then they will bring it back up, but only then. and that's all they will do. how do i know this? cause that already happened. and that's all they did, not fix the casual match making system or anything else oh no, just get it working again, and leave it.
tf2 is a game i always have and will care about. it means so much to me and many others, and to see how its been mistreated, used abused and now abandoned. its disgusting and caused me to lose alot of respect i had for valve. hopefully now the game is open source, someone can resume pre 2016 tf2. take care of it like tf2 deserved all these years. valve took tf2 and tried to mold it into something its not, cram it down our throats and when that didn't work said "♥♥♥♥ it we quit"
