This game has a certain 'something' to it. There is a distinct smell of greatness that almost every other 'Battle Simulator' type game is sadly lacking.
However, that whiff of greatness can be easily lost with irresponsible development. The included scenarios and the custom ones available leave a lot to be desired. Maps are very cramped, tactical and strategic options are limited, and resources are scarce.
It just can't seem to make up it's mind whether it wants to be a game you WATCH, or a game you PLAY. I hope they focus on the latter option going forward.

Needs more animations.
Needs more interactions.
Needs workshop or other model sharing utility.
Needs a price increase.

Capt. Jake Grafton pilots his A-6E over the Persian Gulf one fine afternoon. "Hey, at least it's not Vietnam, eh Cool Hand?" his bombardier Col. Cole asks. They streak across the sea, just above the wave tops. Somewhere out there in the hot haze is an Iranian gunboat steaming into the shipping lanes, a prime target for their Harpoons.
Suddenly, a crackling sound breaks the steady drone of the Intruder's engines. "RAYGUN 9-1, INCOMING BANDITS! Bearing 355, range 33 miles!" Jake looks up, staring through the canopy towards the threat, still invisible in the distance. 'Here we go again...'
Then, a welcome voice is heard on the frequency. "FAST EAGLE 7-1 ON INTERCEPT." High above the Intruders, a pair of F-14's carve through the heavens on twin pillars of fire. "FOX THREE!" An AIM-54 Phoenix drops off the rail before igniting it's engine, streaking towards the Iranian F-4 Phantom in the distance.
"Thanks Bat Guano, if that even is your name..."

The year is 1968, and somewhere under the freezing waters of the Arctic Ocean the USS Sculpin (SSN-590) glides gently through the dark waters. Somewhere out there a Soviet submarine drifts quietly on a reciprocal course. It's machinery making only a faint hum which the sonar operator strains desperately to track on his waterfall display. Slowly the contact firms up, it's course and position is plotted, and a firing solution generated.
Just as the Captain prepares to order the launch of a torpedo, PING!! An active sonar pulse screams through the intervening space, PONG!! Bouncing off the hull, the sound waves are like a light in the darkness, pointing a finger directly at their position. "Fire Tube One!" the Captain orders, just before the sonar operator calls out, "TORPEDOES IN THE WATER, BEARING 035!!"
The deadly exchange has begun once again, just another day under the icebergs in 1968.

Just to be perfectly honest, I still like the original Tropico the best. Nothing else quite captures the old magic.

I just don't see the point in this type of 'game'. There's not even an actual game here. In 2 hours I've seen everything.

Once you hit League 16 you plateau really hard, so unless you're gonna spend money there's not much use playing past that.

It's like a combo of civilization and total war. Very interesting but I wish there was more customization.

I save the local economy, crush unemployment, end obesity, remove crime, balance the budget, educate the people, invest in nuclear power to de-carbonize the grid, and secure a better future for all of humanity.
Then I fire one advisor who's acting like a b****, the entire country turns against me overnight, support drops to zero, and I get crushed in the next election.
Democracy is the worst form of government imaginable.
