Unfinished game.
Ok so first of all:
-Steam Overlay doesn't work. But it actually does. It's just invisible and you can't interact with it. So if you're hearing weird music and sounds it's because the steam overlay opens automatically when you open the game and it's playing a trailer from the DMC 4 store page, invisibly. I'm not joking.
- Alt+Tab makes the game go on windowed mode. Like seriously?
-Performance Issues for no reason. I have a beefy PC and this game came out on 2008. It runs even worse on windowed mode. Didn't have any problems on DMC 1-3 and 5 when it comes to performance.
-When you go to "PC Settings" to change the graphical settings, the game just crashes. And you have to troubleshoot it to get it to work. Bruh?
-Hotkeys don't work. So you can't change the volume of the game while playing it nor alt+f4. If you wanna change the volume you gotta alt+tab... which causes problems as stated above.

The actual game:

Bad and annoying enemy design (Faults, Faust, Frosts, Blitzes, Chimeras, Assaults...), obnoxious gimmicks and pace-breaking puzzles, the platform is based on timing (grappling hooks) instead of actual platforming, lame boss design (one of the bosses is a window, another one is a giant frog), lack of story, repetitive and bland level design, mind blowing technical issues (steam, pc), grindy achievements (irrelevant for most people, not me), poor character balance (the character you can most easily S rank on is also the most straight-forward and boring... and it's supposed to be *STYLISH* ranks btw). Pardon me if I'm forgetting something.

It's clearly unfinished. The game has 20 missions. If you play up to mission 11 you've seen all of the areas, the rest of the missions are backtracking with a few additional assets. Even the same boring bosses are the same. If you want all the achievements you'll be doing about 8 playthroughs. Now, I and many people already got bored with the 2nd half of the game on the 1st playthrough, so just imagine my despair upon this realization.

The game was clearly designed with Nero in mind. He has gap closers (both player displacement and enemy displacement), easy aerial combos, a ranged weapon that supports melee combat (just charge it and use it once in the middle of a combo), and the Devil Bringer (only grabbing attack in the game), which can be used on bosses, has unique interactions with each enemy and it's sick. He can do everything.

Then you have Dante which clearly was supposed to have his own campaign, but instead he's put against the same enemies and areas as Nero, which just feels uncomfortable with Dante's moveset. The 1% of the playerbase are gonna argue that it has an extremely intricate combat system, etc etc... But how many people are gonna realistically master this game? First you need to *like* the game and it's core mechanics, then you master it.

Vergil is cool tho. However missions like mission 6 are a disaster as Him.

After getting all of the achievements on DMC 4, I felt pain and dread. Overall, not worth it.

Not really a game; a whole journey.
The developer makes you care about this world in a way that I've never seen before, and it is super effective. In the first 15 minutes YOU are already part of the world, literally.

The game uses unusual mechanics to tell a story about Niko, a kid who got dragged into this world and YOU, the player.
The world itself is fascinating, with a decent amount of background and lore, but the main focus of the game is the story that you and Niko share and how you two are linked.

Again, the narrative is the main focus of the game (there are some AMAZING puzzles, which actually play a part in the narrative, you'll see), it is not really a gameplay-heavy game. "This game perfectly captures that feeling of warmth and loneliness at the same time."

And if you are going to buy this game (you really should), please, go after the secret ending after your first playthrough.
It basically transforms the base game into a whole new experience. There are new , super important characters, the story changes drastically and the true lore of the game is releaved to you and Niko.

Solid, SOLID, 9/10. Not a 10/10 because I feel like *some* of the characters could've had a bit more development. But that's not a completely negative thing because of what the true ending reveals to you and what it means.

The best adventure/exploration game I've ever played.
Every discovery and piece of information you find feels important (and it is). The puzzles are satisfying and can be solved using only the info you find throughout your journey, no need for wikis. Actually, DON'T even open the wiki, this game should be played as blindly as possible (You can go *anywhere* from the very start, yet, not once I felt lost.)

All planets (and other... locations) feel unique, some are bigger, some are smaller, but every one of them will surprise you in one way or another.

The story is mysterious and very solid, you will easily get hooked on it after you discover some key pieces of information. I'm surprised it was written by only ONE guy (yeah, I didn't skip the credits screen).

But the selling point for me is the ambientation. Holy S**t. The visual design combined with the amazing OST will make you feel scared, emotional, curious, excited, etc. Every time you discover an important bit of information, there's an OST playing that corresponds to what you found out. For exemple: a group of scientists were about to make an important discovery, but then the lab exploded: the soundtrack will be sad and hopeful at the same time, because they all died for the greater good, but you are there to finish their work, their lives weren't in vain. You can REALLY tell how the developers wanted you to feel while playing the game.

I don't know if the gameplay is supposed to be realistic or not, I'm not an astronaut, but at least it feels like it. Walking arround and using the jetpack while you're in a planet feels good and natural, but when you are controlling your ship... well... it takes some time to get used to it. Flying a ship in zero-G (momentum) defenitely feels different than driving a car (friction).

But besides that, I don't really see any downside, and I don't see why you shouldn't try it out for yourself. I guarantee you, there's no game like this one out there.
