This review is YEARS late but better late than never, right? The original iteration of Human Revolution was already a spectacular game, both for its time and now. Director's Cut fixed all of the nitpicks I had, which catapulted DX:HR Director's Cut to my favorite game of all time, across all platforms and genres.

The story, the art design, the level design, the stealth mechanics, the progression system, the gameplay, and how much attention to detail there is are all amazing. Adam Jensen is a super cool protagonist, and with how this game's story is set up, you really become invested in his journey, and you'll likely echo is motivations for setting out to unravel the multilayered conspiracy that lead with him becoming augmented (which, make no mistake, he never asked for).

Every time I play this game I find new things, new paths, etc that I never even knew about. Everything is super reactive to what you've done, and it most certainly isn't limited to dialogue options. The environments - while definitely aged from when the original version came out in 2010 (!), are still a visual feast. Hengsha especially is super cool, when you look up at the bottom of the floof and see the trams moving across it. Basically a much cooler Midgar from FF7.

10/10. Best game I've ever played in my life, and probably ever will.

Forza Motorsport used to be my favorite racing franchise. I've played every single FM except for 6, and I spent hundreds of hours on each one except for 7. I cannot in good conscience recommend FM2023. The satisfying driving is completely overshadowed by everything else. Progression - while better than it was at launch, is still awful. Nobody asked for a separate currency for upgrades. Just let us use our credits.

My friends and I used to do "Top Gear challenges" in the older FMs where we'd set a budget, set a target class or required make/country of origin/decade/whatever, split up and buy and upgrade our cars, come back and surprise each other with what we picked, and then race each other on the Nordschleife.

We can't do that anymore. We'd need to spend several career races leveling the car up to be able to unlock the upgrades and then buy them with the stupid upgrade points (assuming we earned enough for that specific car), and then once we'd do all that we'd still not have the Nordschleife to race on because it didn't ship with the game.

Visually...I don't know what is going on with this game, but the cars look horrible. Paint looks flat no matter what settings you use. You can look up comparison videos on YT for this but it's horrendous. The 360 games look better. This isn't even about the reused FM2 models. Cars just don't look right.

I'm honestly just getting disappointed writing all this out. I really REALLY wish I wanted to play this game when I look at my library. I had more complaints to say but after the first anecdote and waxing nostalgic of the good ol' days I just kind of ran out of steam, and any anger I had just turned into disappointment. This is how Forza Motorsport dies.

Older Armored Core games are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brutal and do not give a damn about the player.

Play through half of the story and blow all your money on parts and don't have one of the few setups that are good for the next mission? Back to the start of the game, loser.

Get hard countered by the boss because it cheats? Back to the start menu, idiot.

Have fun spending 6 hours trying to beat the last mission where it's you against 4 extremely high spec, extremely cheat mode AI opponents with no checkpoints, saves, repairs, or regens, where you'll die in two hits, maybe 3 if you have literally nothing but armor.

This one? People are too used to Soulsborneringkirou and are treating it as such. This is the easiest Armored Core but that isn't a bad thing at all as it's a great way to ease the new gen into the franchise. The level design is phenomenal, the combat is well paced without being too far of a departure from the pace of the PS1/PS2 games (Looking at you, AC4), and the story is better written and more engaging than any previous AC entry (Which admittedly is a low bar). Also, unlike the vast majority of modern game releases, this one runs extremely well on PC.

My only real "complaint" is that the number of parts available is about a quarter of what you would get in the previous games, but the incredible level design easily overshadows that, and if that's where the budget went I'm totally OK overlooking that.

For fans of the older AC games who may be on the fence, I strongly recommend Armored Core 6. For new fans that enjoy Souls games, I recommend it, but you'll need to break your gameplay habits. For anyone who wants easier difficulty options or who don't like a bit of a challenge (or a LOT of a challenge if you're one of several game journalists I've seen reviewing it), get filtered.

Anyone with an asterisk in front of their name is a cross-platform player playing on the Playstation 4.

Aim for them. They're pretty easy targets.
