Half Life - Alyx is a new standard for VR games today. Its clear the game works, but as I progress: the problems of VR fall along with it. Its painfully obvious that if you dont have a Valve Index things will look quite different. It is however a relief that Valve took the time to accommodate every VR headset. The games have evolved but what about the technology? It seems it's got some way to go. At least for the majority playing in a confined space sitting or standing in one direction might be limiting your experience, and I dont think Valve took this into consideration when making Half Life - Alyx VR only. I only hope the next Half Life Game is both VR and PC.

As for the gameplay, a consistent amount of fun from chapter to chapter. Health is abundant, ammo is hidden (but by design, to make you look), and other items are stashed away in hidden areas and rooms. You are introduced to movement quite early on, the first jump puzzle is probably confusing to many, as Valve did a poor job explaining how to do it. Perhaps in game videos or a hologram of someone doing the action would act as a better tutorial than just a popup on screen. I think in that regard, more play testing needed to iron out these issues. Combat is actually quite interesting, I can see a lot of work went into the design and handling of weapons in the game. The action of storing ammunition over your shoulder is brilliant, but can be tiring after a few hours. Once you understand enemy patters and weak spots killing can be easy.

Puzzles in the game are interesting, they can be a hit or a miss. The 'orb' puzzles are the hardest in my opinion as if the tracking goes off on your controllers (Which happened to me every second in the game) in can be hard. It's good to have them into the game to discharge yourself from a intense combat session.

Overall, the best VR game available on the market. A clear Half life game worth it in the franchise. And the best 13 hours I've spent in VR.
