Were “DRILLING DEEPER” boys
(I sure hope we don’t cause any issues with the Core…)

☐ Were now 6 years after Deep Rock Galactic inital Launch, 4 years after leaving Early Access,
☐ Yet still getting (way beyond initial proposed content) more added to the game for no extra Gold!
☐ An almost Cult like community (in a good way) that is better than any I have come across.
☐ And an open Dev team that tells us what it's doing.
(Not many games can boast like this, especially at this age)

⭐ So, Season 5, what are we all getting into, for Free ⭐
🔸 1 New Mission,
Almost like a cross between ‘Egg Hunt’ & ‘Escort’ missions, but definitely its own awesome thing that fits into the DRG universe and provides plenty of the DRG experience we crave.

🔹 Even more New Cave Shapes, (20+)
This is huge. For the procedural generation software to be given more caves to work with & populate helps stave off the Deja-Vu feeling. The previewed caves also look more adventurous in design.
“This place is almost nice compared to last time”

🔸 12 New overlocks (1 for each primary weapon) & 1 reworked existing
The ones shown in the live stream look interesting & powerful but also at the same time don't feel like they will make every other option obsolete, keeping that wonderful mix of builds other Dwarfs bring to missions.
Coincidentally Overclocks are my favourite type of Clock

🔹 New Mutators x2, Anomalies x2 & Secondary Objectives
Finally an additional Objective, bring on the challenge/work & rewards

🔸 Additional Ommoran Heartstone Phase
1 brand new style of offensive/defensive phase that can be in place of either the ‘Floating Rocks’ or ‘Laser Crystals’ or not included on that particular run.
Should mix things up, keep it interesting, although it is worrying that the rocks are learning!

🔹 Season Cosmetics Tree & Core Stones
The usual Cosmetic Tree & 100 levels of rewards. Filled with things like new Beards, Hats, Weapon Frames, Pickaxe Parts n so on…
The appearance of a strange looking rock with ties to this Seasons Script, he mysterious ‘Core Stone’
But be warned, disturbing Core Stones brings something from the depth of Hoxxes!

🔸 New Enemies
As if These caves weren’t bad enough.
Cousins/variations of existing known enemies along with completely unseen types that are sure to shake things up down there.
But they are welcome to become target practice for the new overclocks.

🔹 3 New Dance Moves
I see you baby, shakin that A$$

🔸 New Difficulty, Hazard 5+
With adjustable values for things like enemy numbers, aggressiveness!
At least we get more rewards for our troubles. “Were Rich!”

🔹 Season Selection
☐ If you missed, prefer or just feel like revisiting a previous season, or turning them off completely, well now you can.
☐ You build XP in specific Seasons & unlock its cosmetic tree as you would have before.
☐ Anything you have already unlocked stays unlocked, so no loss of progress there & previous season loot will go back to their respective Trees.
Freeing up space of the now bloated Cosmetic Core, Loot Crates & Lost Pack, before adding some more goodies to them, to help keep them relevant for even the Greybeards.
Another way DRG boots FOMO to the kerb

QOL & Other Additions:
☐ New Weapon Maintenance. Not 1, Not 2 but 3, Three sets for all weapons!
☐ New cosmetics for the Loot Crate & Lost Gear pools
☐ Cosmetic Filters We're gonna need em!
☐ Reworked Status Effect Overlays
☐ Promotion Tracker (for all us very Greyberads)
☐ Deep Dive rejoin option (if you lose connection)
☐ UI additions
☐ Even more Game Optimisation
☐ Loads of Fixes
☐ Nvidia DLSS3 Integration

This is shaping up to be one hell of a season and what looks to be the start of the tie-in with Rogue Core, or at least an idea as to what happens.

”All aboard the Drillevator!”
”Oh, it’s a drill… and an elevator, I get it now”

A note to all the leaf lovers
☐ “Dead Game” It’s not even close Jester Farmer’s.
The player base is strong (better than most it’s age)
If you played the game you would see no end of greenbeards alongside greys helping them out.

☐ “GSG Don't Care” What!
They didn't need to add anything after the ‘What was Left Behind’ update back in 2020 to have DRG in a place it would go down in history as a Legendary Good Game.
But they did. New Biomes, Mission, Weapons, and then the Seasons … and all this cost you how much extra Gold? NONE

A note to all my fellow Dwarfs, Greenbeards & Greybeards alike
☐ It has been a pleasure delving into the depths of Hoxxes with you over the years, and continues to be so. Never change.

☐ I'll see you on the Space Rig for a Beer, a bit of bad Dancing

☐ Here's to the next stage of our adventure (A.K.A out jobs)]/i] on Hoxxes IV.

”To Karl”

‘In the name of HADES…’

Hades is a uniquely brilliant take on the Rogue-lite game that is less diverse vs its pure Rouge-lite counterparts to better allow for a select group of characters (friend, foe & unknown’s) that progress with their own and intertwining stories as you persist in your efforts to escape the Underworld.

The Rogue-lite game is here & is well represented,
However it is the Stories and the progressions of individuals (including Zagreus) that allows this game to shine as it does,

A Brief of how Hades plates out:
🔸 You star your first Escape Run [ER] and make some progress but ultimately you die,
🔹 So, you start your second, third, fourth ER… getting more used to the mechanics, the enemies, the environment … but you succumb to the same fate,

Now you really want out,
🔸 To help the Olympian God’s aid you through boons, adding/modifying your Attack, Special, Dash..
🔹 You use a resource you been collection called Darkness to give yourself small bonuses for your ER’s,
🔸 You take some time, study the enemy and after several attempts and some lucky Epic even Legendary Boons, you make it out.

And Beath
🔸 Now comes a real fight Good Luck

Did you Survive?
🔸 No, better luck next time,
🔹 Yes, Lucky you.
You now have a choice, you technically escaped so you can call it quits, game done, Or…

Follow up on what you’ve found, and…
🔸 Build relations with your Uncle, Aunts & Cousins, AKA the Olympian Gods,
🔹 Build your passive skills,
🔸 Unlock new Weapons, & later previously hidden weapon aspects, & later upgrade them
🔹 Escape again,
🔸 Discover long buried secrets,
🔹 Upgrade elements for the House of Hades (your home),
🔸 Progress stories with members of the House of Hades, including Zagreus,
🔹 Escape once more (by the skin of your teeth),
🔸 Attempt & achieve escapes with personally selected ‘Pack of Punishment’ contracts,
🔹 Discover new elements unlocked via the pack’s,
🔸 Fail to escape,
🔹 Pet Cerberus! "If I don’t pet your other heads, don’t bite my arm off, deal?” - Zagreus
🔸 Discover 'Prophecies’ and work to completing them,
🔹 Earn ‘Keepsake’ from the Gods and your friends and eventually unlock their full potential,
🔸 Listen to shade conversations, and see how they met their demise,
‘Cause of death, Fall Damage!’
🔹 Go Fishing in the legendary waters of the underworld,
🔸 Escape again,
🔹 Learn the truth…

This simple ‘Rogue-lite game’ has more story, is more captivating and greater depth than iv seen in AAA titles!

You start playing for the fight out of the underworld, you stay for the drama of everything else.

It also doesn’t hurt that:
🔹 The Stunning Graphics, that don’t age,

🔸 The Narration, Especially the interactions between him and Zagreus are in a gold class!
Narrator: "Beyond the present chamber lies the outermost perimeter of Tartarus, promising terrifying dangers far beyond the Underworld Prince's reckoning."
Zagreus: "And I can reckon quite a bit.

🔹 The Original Music, from the in game background peaceful and combat music that fits perfectly to the environment, to the emotional sturing vocal tracks,

🔸 What is once considered hard soon becomes trivial, what was once rare is now a thing of plenty.
Progression in Hades is subtle yet eventually noticeable and welcome.

For a game type I cared little for before, Hades has won me over with its best of all worlds approach to a Rogue-lite game with Story & Progression elements that have been so intricately interwoven into a beautiful and surprisingly compelling game I find myself struggling to put down after ‘technically’ finishing it.

"Come, shades, I don't have all night!" - Zagreus

Hell Dive

☐ Helldivers 2 is fun & full of lovely little details, but its gameplay is limited and not without incredibly frustrating issues.
☐ Constant nerfing of any commonly used or even fun gear along with lackluster new tools or war and known issues taking a backseat to these ‘additions’ have left a sour taste for many.

The Combat, (it’s best feature, it’s only feature)✔️
☐ Enemies come in various types (within there faction) offering equally varied levels of Armor, Attacks/Weapons, Style of Movement, its less of a mass of enemy and more a living battlefield.
☐ The Armor/Limbs can be removed to expose weak points of eliminate the potentially dangerous elements of bigger enemies.
☐ Armor can also deflect rounds & in a very visually satisfyingly way that also shows how little to no impact it has!
☐ Ammo range from the typical bullet to incendiary, Exposive, Heat weapons, Electrical/Arcing, Spray ‘n’ Pray & Precision.
☐ Weapons have weight, not only slowing you but reducing stability, accuracy & if heavier have sway when moving. You feel as if you're fighting the bigger support weapons raw power, as you would expect.
(None of this instant 180, spine breaking BS too many shooters rely on for a wow factor)
☐ Stratagems cover Supports Weapons, Turrets, Minefields, an array of Airstrikes, Bombardments and Powerful tools that you will always wish you could bring more of. Creating some very difficult tactical choices before dropping in as most have use. (before nerfing)

This all takes the combat from just pointing a gun at an enemy and reducing Hit Points to a strategic level that requires forthort and intensifies the combat when faced with various enemies.

🔸 Some Crazy Attention to detail,
☐ In universe advertisements, reviews, NPC’s, POI’s
(look really closely, SuperEarth is not telling us everything!)
☐ Orbitals come from your destroyer, something you may need to factor in,
(they did, some now spawn from random bits of sky!)
☐ Heldivers voice on entering the battlefield is calm, almost excited. When it gets messy, they scream for “Reinforcements!’’ or heal to a panic stricken “For Democracy”.
☐ Injured limbs can restrict movement/gun stability.

🔹 Various Planets/Biomes with effects, landscapes, weathers and other anomalies,
☐ Some you'll love, (There are some beautiful, almost cinematic landscapes out there)
☐ Others you'll love to hate as well, and some you'll question why we want to liberate it at all.
☐ But despite these being ‘random’, I have started seeing the same/crazy similar ones frequently enough to remember the layouts.
☐ & if one planet you enjoy is ever liberated you can no longer do missions on it!

Story, Player Progression is Basic
There is just enough to frame the reason why you're trying to ‘Liberate’ some of the hell holes of a planet you end up on.
XP, Requisition Slips (coin), Medals, & Samples are in abundance to the point you hit the low storage cap easily, that is too close to the total cost of 1 upgrade/unlock.
Super Credits (premium Coin you can buy with real money!) is the only one that's hard to get in numbers, (I wonder why)

Solo vs Team
☐ There is no scaling for the number of Helldivers in a lobby.
Instead enemy health/damage/numbers/types & spawn are per the mission difficulty.
For the most part this is great, although it does create a steep learning curve.
☐ It also goes beyond encouraging team play and almost enforces it as you need more firepower.
It also makes Solo a constant fight, especially on the (7-8-9) difficulties following patrol/spawn buffs.
You simply can’t dish out that firepower as 1 player
☐ Co-op play is minimal, a few enemy have a weak points that can be flanked, (this also shafts Solo players) but after that others just bring more/varied firepower.

Limited Mission Types
☐ The limited types fall into categories of Kill/Destroy or Admin/Interact at point A-B-C
☐ There has been limited time variants for Major Orders, but these are usually basic and badly balanced.
☐ There are also mission types that only appear on/within specific difficulties further reducing the pool you tend to see.

The Nerfing of everything Used
Any weapon that sows in the Devs telemetry as popular gets nerfed,
They have admitted they don't play their own game (twitter), So how can they see how bad these have become?
At the same time as nerfing almost everything they upped patrol spawns and enemy numbers making it even worse for none full teams, and hell for solo’s.

Replayability
☐ Planets at any one time are limited and usually very similar, Mission types are few, Secondary are even less diverse, Points of Interest are multiple of the same per map.IIt quickly all gets very repetitive.
☐ If you're looking for anything more than a shooty-shooty game this won't keep you entertained for too long, shame really.

Spawn Trapped
☐ If you die Solo or Team Wipe the game decides where to drop you back in.
Spoiler, it's into the same cluster f**k that got you killed except this time you won't have your support gear, or a defensible position…, and are at best 0.5s from being attacked when you finally retake control of your helldiver as every enemy is alerted to your positions as you are dropping in!
☐ Rinse n Repeat losing all your reinforcements to this loop.

Don’t get me wrong here, Difficulty it’s the issue, if I die because I messed up then I come back prepared.
But, if it's because of a broken mechanic that leaves me TRAPPED it’s the game, and the player can not prevent / better prepare for the next time…Let us spawn further away than our GRAVES!
(this is how I have lost 99% of my Solo Runs!)
This is a shockingly bad respawn system

Sony blocked 170+ counties from playing ⚠️
It's complicated but in short;
☐ You didn't need a PSN account to play the game to start with,
☐ The game was sold everywhere,,
☐ Sony tried to force PSN linking, 170+ counties can't get a PSN account,
☐ Sony reversed the decision after backlash (review bombing),
BUT STILL STOPPED THE 170+ FROM PLAYING/BUYING HD2
☐ Most of the playerbase forgot about the 170+ cos they cared about no 3rd party account link, not the players, so the review bombing ended,
This review predated all that.

Note:
With some of these I can’t tell if its intentionally bad/not working as advertised within the Universe/lore or if it's actually a bug/glitch, & with most comms from the Devs being as if from within the games Universe I doubt we ever will

Other
🔸 Stratagems that are supposed to ‘Track’ the largest/nearest target, flip a coin for outcome…
🔹 Stratagems stick/bounce of the same terrain inconsistently, no good for placing turrets n such,
🔸 Doing actions quickly after reloading, screws the mag to only have 1 round in it,
🔹 ADS has to be set in every mission, and resets after picking up a different weapon, or dying despite checking to ‘remember’ in options!
🔸 View can become completely broken if you use ADS & do (action) before game snaps to 3rd person again, that's enjoyable in a firefight
🔹 Explosions clip through solid objects/terrain, unless it's yours vs the enemy,
🔸 Bots shooting through, even walking through solid objects! (rare but becoming more common)
🔹 Enemy becoming stuck under/in objects/terrain (& occasionally also you), they can still shoot you & call reinforcements, you can do nothing!
🔸 Redeploy pod (should) but done always allow control, even after devs ‘fixed it’
🔹 No private lobby, only ‘Open’ or ‘Friends only’
🔸 Known Issues removed from patch notes despite not being completely fixed,
🔹 Enough of the fanbase will claim you're a ‘Traitors to SuperEarth & Managed Democracy!’ than acknowledge the issues. That in turn puts little pressure for them to be fixed.
Of all the things to RolePlay!

Ghost Recon, Breakpoint

It took 3 years to get to Steam and I'm glad it did. Looking at how many bugs were required to be fixed, the ones that persist are relatively minor, but no less frustrating.

I picked up Breakpoint for nothing more than a large playground with various locations, skills, tools & means of putting high velocity lumps of metal into my enemies without having to worry too much about a Story.

For that it excels, as you have:
🔸 Free roam of a vast and varied map,
🔹 Many locations (all with unique layouts even with same/similar assets)
🔸 A vast array of weapons (eventually, takes considerable time to locate & farm for the money)
🔹 7 different classes that have a unique tool and abilities (worth checking them all)
🔸 Being able to solo (no bots)
🔹 Modifying individual elements of the difficulty; detection efficiency, injury chance, stamina use…
🔸 The stunning environment (I loved getting high ground to survey the area and just take it in)

Other Nice Touches:
🔸 Gear & Weapons getting dirty/clean when touching mud, sand, snow, water. It's not a blanket texture, it's a gradual addition.
🔹 When finding/witnessing a dead comrade you can trigger a voice line similar too ‘Peterson is down, they got Paterson’ instead of a generic Bravo 1.
(A personal touch and a moment I genuinely felt bad for taking out someone's friend, for a moment)
🔸 The fleshed out building internals,
🔹 No sizable location layout is identical,
🔸 Locations (on reset) have various combos of guards and paths they follow/or don’t
meaning revisiting them feels less deja-vu

I would recommend Breakpoint, if not for the following that are too much to ignore:

The Bugs that will drive you mad & get you killed
(Note these were spotted in Beta, along with others, but these and more have Never been addressed):
🔸 If using Iron Sights (First Person) whilst close enough to a wall, it will often snap to it (cover system) and toggle you back to 3rd person. (Just what you need in a fast paced firefight)
🔹 The item/command selection wheels can become stuck open, only solution, Alt + F4!
🔸 You can not play offline, and if you lose connection (Ubi servers) it drops you to Main Menu, no autosave, no say on the matter!

Immersion breaking:
🔹 Every Civ, even ones you have just finished talking to, go straight back to whimpering and asking ‘Who are you?’, ‘What are you doing here?’
(We just had a 5 min conversation where they employed me to do A,B,C!)
🔸 With a handful of exceptions, any ‘interrogated’ enemy answer with a line of/similar ‘I already told you everything’. Then the intel appears in your inventory!
🔹 Asking civs for help leads to a voiceline that does not match the voice they were using to cry with and sounds like it's being played from a 2000’s mobile under a mattress!
🔸 Bullet Penetration is all over the place. 9mm can pierced steel fences, 7.62x.51 Nato have failed vs cloth!
🔹 You can't vault over Ledges that look exactly the same as ones you can. (Enjoy that in a fire fight)
🔸 AI you're holding hostage continuing/starting a casual conversation with there comrades!

Enemy AI & their own rules:
🔹 Enemies can detect you in a vehicle from great distance, regardless of how fast you are travelling, and even if it's got a closed cockpit! Telethapy?
🔸 Once ‘Visually Detected’ they track you through solid objects (akin to wall hacks) until you move far enough that they go back to On Alert.
🔹 Reinforcements also know exactly where you are and make a B-line to you, even though they trigger the detection metre when close & react as if they didn't expect you there when they do!
🔸 Unlike you they don't roll getting out of a moving vehicle and can instantly return fire
🔹 They take more ‘Damage’ once alert! (How can you brace yourself to take 2-3 more 7.62x51 rounds to the face?) How the Smeg does this work with Drones!

Bad Enemy Tactics:
🔸 Conquest Mode: Heavy armour that’s impenetrable by any calibre, takes DMR & SNR from top tier to crap.
🔹 The above wall Hack tracking BS,
🔸 Foliage does not affect enemy LOS, unless it's one of the specific stealth bushes you get an invisibility bonus in,
🔹 SAM’s are close enough to impossible to evade,
🔸 When talking to civs for missions that don't enter a cinematic, you are classed as stationary and more likely to trigger ‘Random’ Patrols or have Azrael Drones buzz over. You can either cancel their monologue (you can’t skip) or get shot up!
🔹 Stealth can be lost (failing mission that require it) by rebel forces that are ‘helping’ or enemy taking a stroll through their own Mine Fields and find a hot one!

Ghost’s AI are hopeless,
🔸 They don’t take cover when cleared to go hot,
🔹 They will stand in poison gas until downed,
🔸 I even had all 3 muzzle sweep themselves when I was unloading a LMG on full Auto!
☐ Other stuff too, but I quickly turned them off and solo the game instead.

Restricted attachment for weapons
🔹 When they have a picatinny rail and you can’t add other sights, scopes, lasers you have unlocked!
🔸 Not being able to set fire modes to some weapons!

Suppressors still make no sense!
🔹 A 20% Damage Reduction and make guns silent outside 10m. Really!

Everything is a hold to interact; (It's Just a waste of time, why is this a thing?)
🔸 Buying, Sell, Crafting, Building Weapons, Grabbing Enemies, Climbing Ladders…
It's also one of the few options you can’t tweak.

Missing game elements,
🔹 You can break down clothes for parts, but unlike with weapons you can use these NOWHERE, they never added it to the game!

🔸 The OTT contrast that make any space the other side of a door over bright/dark!
🔹 Damaged chain link fences suddenly block all your shots yet still let enemy shoot threw them!
🔸 The Honey Badger is classed as a SMG & using a 7.62 round! Breaking it as a gun, it's crazy OP

It's unfortunate, this game has so much I enjoyed, but being constantly hit with the above and other things left a sour taste that meant I was glad when it was over!

MW (2022-23), Reselling Nostalgia

⚠️ MWII (2022) was launched with the Dev statement that it was to be a 2 year game with OG MW2 maps, Guns & so on to be included and a small continuation of the 2022 Campaign storyline at a later time.

❌ ❌ This never happened! ❌ ❌

⚠️ Instead, 1 year later MW III (2023) is launched, functionally as a ‘DLC’ but priced as a ‘Full Game’ with limited champaign content, most of which is regurgitated warzone maps.
Around a story that spits in the face of the OG’s and stands as an abomination by itself.
It does not even work with the previous game (2023) to which it is supposed to follow and is supposed to be the new Lore!
Dead characters come back with no explanation!
Death of beloved characters (before their brutal defacing in these instalments) are brushed off like that of a random NCP!

☐ As a bonus, now both games are in the same launcher, it auto launches to MW III, if you want MW II it will have to reboot, reload shades and all the playlist checks & so on it already did loading MW III
Currently no way to launch MWII from Steam!

______________________________________________

MW III (2023) is on the same engine and sharing most of the assets, maps, guns… as MWII (2022) and in turn inherits all the problems that STILL (1 year+ after launch) persist along with its own issues it will inevitably bring, & if history has taught us anything about this franchise will go mostly unresolved

🔸 Server Tick Rates:
Essentially how many times over 1 second your actions are sent to the server & back.
Battlefield, Overwatch, CS = Best 64, typically 45-50
CoD = Best 64, typically 20 or less !
This is why your shots don't land, your opponent hits you when facing the other way, the Servers can not cope!

🔹 Broken Custom Blueprints!
Any Blueprint you save can become corrupt (no reason, no warning, no fix) meaning it will fail to load into a match (Warzone, DMZ, Multiplayer) & yet work fine in the Firing Range!
The only fix for this = Create a new one - This is not a fix Activision!

🔸 The addition of Pay to Win mechanics:
☐ DMZ - Operators with free Kill streaks, Self Revives, Armour Vests & others.
☐ Operators skins that are practically invisible in situations (usually for money)
☐ Operators with things like harnessed dogs that bark when your near other operators!
☐ Sights that offer different / better visuals that are not obtainable any other way.
☐ Blueprints with Pro-Tuning that can’t be replicated (Bonus stats in exchange for money)
☐ Every 10 weeks, a new season (usually with the above) for the additional price of $30/£25 to stay current with the new broken / OP gear

🔹 New overpowered / unbalanced weapons
That break the game until they can be bothered to fix the untested additions.

🔸 Poor Balancing (Weapons, Maps, AI)
☐ Weapon damage & penetration values are all over the place, 9mm killing in 3 bullets, 7.62Nato & even 50cal at close range in 2 hits!
☐ Most weapon’s that become Meta for a season will be nerfed into oblivion.
☐ Spawn Trapping is still a thing!
☐ Invasion/GW maps with LOS to AI even players from the start of the match. Too easy to abuse AI spawn for easy killstreaks/points.

🔹 The glitches:
☐ Custom Weapon Blueprints (As above, how can this still be a thing?)
☐ Equipment clipping into anything & being lost to the map,
☐ Clipping AI with terrain or ignoring blocked windows/doors & even walls,
(You can’t shoot them, they can still shoot you)
☐ Faction Mission being bugged (for over a season in some cases),
☐ Server Connection issues and Server Lag spikes,
☐ Others that come and go per patch.

🔸 Broken Perks & Equipment:
☐ Cold Blooded (perk) supposedly stops you being highlighted by certain types of sights/scopes. Except that's a lie, and they will never fix it.
☐ Tactical Insertion failing for no reason (complicated to explain, but they are broken)

🔸 Over the top Controller Aim Assist!
It's so powerful it allows for target snapping with no LOS (through smoke/foliage) and tracks without input!

🔹 The ridiculous desync.
EG: Aggressive/over the top movement causes the server to predict where a player is most likely to be facing, yet kill cams and test shows them turning/facing the other direction!
Getting you shot at by an enemy that is facing the other direction, even with a ping less than .01ms on LAN

🔸 Smoke, explosion/debri clouds
They are NOT generated server side but client side!
Meaning what you see (or don't as it's obstructed) is’t guaranteed to be what your opponents see!
Often leading to LOS for your opponent but not you!

🔹 The Community (& not a small section of im afraid) are just damn right toxic:
I’m not gonna apologise for that comment as in the hours i've played I have;
☐ Been virtually teabagged or otherwise violated,
☐ Been called every profanity under the sun,
☐ Been told I partake in incest and beastiality,
☐ Had myself, my family and my friends' lives threatened!

🔸 The 2 part Anti-Cheat system
☐ Ricochet Anti-cheat itself works when kept up to date, sometimes,
(but it does historically take some time to update to new threats)

However it does also (and has been acknowledged by the developers) flag more false positives than a fake Covid test!
Permanently banning player for things like RGB lighting control software, following PC crash’s from the software [Caserma Rhino error is the latest Developer unexplained issue banning players]

There is also no explanation or meaningful way to appeal these.
Playing is risking your account and anything (Time, Money, Effort) you have put into it because of things you have no control over.

☐ A Player reporting system that relies on an accurate and unbiased review from the player you just killed!
That when abused & spammed will get you booted / shadow banned by one for the many toxic players, kids that can’t accept any form of loss or streamers that think they are god!
(spreading the lie that this is acceptable to their ‘followers’ so it can be replicated en-mass to the next poor soul)

Toxicity breads Toxicity
It won't ever go away now it's infested a community

Happy 5th Birthday Deep Rock Galactic
(Give or take a concept project, pre-alpha and the like…)

You've come a long way from the ‘Project Dwarka’ concept.

From losing out in the Community poll to both ‘Project Karoo’ & ‘Project Knoxville’ to surviving the Press Play closure of 2016.

You had a Pre-alpha in 2016, with an unreleased 1st trailer and an amazing jump in development to the official first Pre-Alpha Trailer

Then on the 28 Feb 2018. Early Access launch and the birth of Deep Rock Galactic
When many of us discovered our inner hidden Dwarfs

Since then DRG has never stopped growing & not just the game but the fan base.
”I love you guys”

We've seen New, More and/or Reimagined;
🔸 Bugs both Glyphid’s, and game glitches,
🔹 Fast and effective Game bug fixes,
🔸 Biomes,
🔹 Mission,
🔸 Primary Weapons,
🔹 Secondary Weapons,
🔸 Grenades,

🔹 Bosco skins & Colour palettes,
🔸 Pickaxe skins & Colour palettes,
🔹 Dwarf cosmetics, (Beard Physics rule)
🔸 A few, then more, then almost too many additional Cosmetics,

(I know I'm missing stuff but this list would be huge to do DRG justice)

And yet, not once have GSG ever asked for our Gold
🔸 This approach has kept all Dwarfs with the same access to every addition, preventing a split in the player base and a major reason why so many of us get the Cosmetic’s or the Supporters Upgrade’s.
(Even though it was a complete game on launch and not sold as a live service)
🔹 This steady influx of good additional content throughout all aspects is a major factor that has help keep Deep Rock Galactic alive, & not just from the Developers, but also the Community it spawned.

🔸 A Community I am proud to be a member of. 🔹

A community, that amongst so many other things:
🔸 Answered the call to Mine in droves, and stayed,
🔹 Creates Trailers & Recruitment Videos
🔸 Creates amazing Music, then even Remix them,
🔹 Cemented voice lines into history, ”For Rock & Stone”
🔸 Creates Mods,
🔹 Documents DRG History,
🔸 Loved Doretta so much we asked/received the ability to save her,
”No Dwarf left behind”
🔹 Spawned, and funded a DRG Board Game
(I got me the Collector’s Edition within hours, plus some extras) 👍
🔸 But best of all, we mine together vs the horrors of Hoxxes IV,
(There are ‘Co-Op’ games where players get along, then there's DRG, where were practically family)
“Rock and Stone Brothers”

& finally from myself, and many others,

Thankyou Ghost Ship Games

The first round of Glyphid Slammers are on me.
Here's to the next 5 Years and many more to one of, if not the Best Co-Op game of all time.

‘This Bad Boy Can Drill So Many Tunnels’

Update 32: Roughnecks At Work

Yet more free, and great additional content for Deep Rock Galactic…

And in my personal opinion, the best set of cosmetics to date.
Who needs more armour against the Glyphids than tattoos & a Hawaiian shirt?

New Stuff ‘n’ Changes:
🔸 New Mission, On-Site Refining, ’Whoever laid these pipes did a ♥♥♥♥♥ job!’
Similar in a way to Point Extraction as you get a Static Rig, but here you connect it to Liquid Morkite wells by pipes you place (and can then ride).
This can be as easy as a straight line over terrain or requiring some fancy placing, platform hoping or terrain modifications to get there.

My suggestion, bring a Driller and cut a path directly to the wells.
For bonus points in OCD take all 3 down the same path and sprue one off as you pass each well head.
’Obstacle? More like a granite smoothie once we're done!’

🔹 New Mission, Escort Duty, ’We Gotta Protect Dotty!’
A completely unique design for a DRG mission. You're sent after a Ommoran Heartstone and are tasked with protecting a Drilldozer called Doretta until she gets there whilst keeping her safe and fuelled.

Bonus details:
☐ Doretta has an AI that apart from being adorable, reacts to enemy’s and damage as well as being petted by us Dwarfs, ‘Aw So Cute’
☐ You can also save Dotty’s head (AI personality) by getting her back to the Drop Pod for unique voice lines and because management would have left her behind ‘
She then even shows up in your Rig with a ‘Fix me’ memo

‘One day i'll get my own Drilldozer’

🔸 New Cosmetics,
🔹 QoL Improvements,
🔸 Weapon Balances,
🔹 New Voicelines,

Wait! What is the difference between Rock & Stone?

Round 3 of Paid cosmetics, I mean Season 3, for Free

Again we get an amazing collection of content just like with Season 2

Filled with even more:
🔸 New Enemies, (plague infested versions of existing mostly)
🔹 New Events, (Huge Meteor crashing into the cave system)
🔸 New Mini Event, (Meteor Shower hitting the cave system)
🔹 New Mutator/Second Primary Objective, (Lithophage)
🔸 New Weapons, (New Grenade types)
🔹 New Weapon models n skins,
🔸 New Bosco skins,
🔹 New Armor skins,
🔸 New Dwarf cosmetics,
🔹 Themed changes to the Space Rig,
🔸 More Voice Lines, lots more…
🔹 Dozens of new Cave Variations
This is HUGE, amongst other things it adds more variety, especially to the ‘Point Extraction’ missions but the best part is it helps stave off the Deja-Vu feeling.

“This place is almost nice compared to last time”

Whilst keeping all the lovely bits from the previous seasons so we can still:
🔸 Fight the Robot trying to steal our jobs,
🔹 Encounter the Machine Events,
🔸 Play the Industrial Sabotage mission,
🔹 Have the Mutators on missions,
🔸 Use the Weapons,
🔹 Customise Bosco, Our Pickaxe, Weapons, Armour, our Chins! Beard Physics rule

As for the armour, it's OK. The glowing eye’s on the helmet are DLC colour dependent so they won’t stay if you swap to any other, and there is no weapon mesh like in previous packs, rest is personal taste..
But to be honest I'm still running the Roughneck pack, cos all the armour I need from the Glyphids is my Tattoos!

I've said it before and i'll say it a again, not just because it still stands, but because it's now even more relevant,

For Karl!

Like many I bought this (& the Collectors, OST & the rest of the cosmetics) more to support Ghost Ship Games for their continued support, additions, balancing and all the rest, to this now immortalised first class PVE game.

(I actually don't like the look of anything in this particular pack)
“But who cares?”

Why:
🔸 New Biomes [as well as upgraded/reimagined biomes] (Free),
🔹 New Missions (Free),
🔸 New Weapons (Free),
🔹 New Enemies (Free),
🔸 New Cosmetics (Free),
🔹 Seasons, with story elements & loads of other stuff (Free),
🔸 Timed/Themed/Seasonal events (Free),
🔹 Upgrades/Addition to the Space Rig (Free),
🔸 Loads of miscellaneous (world building) additions (Free),
🔹 Quick and effective patches & hot-fixes,
🔸 But most of all, for not dividing the player base with paid content.

Keeping a game like Deep Rock Galactic alive requires a steady influx of good additional content throughout all aspects of the game.
We're now 2 years after full launch and it is getting just that.
Thank You.

Did I hear a Rock and Stone?

Deep Rock Galactic (DRG) is one of the finest PvE games I have come across.
The concept is simple, the execution is outstanding and the gameplay is brilliantly addictive.
The Developers have/are very active at patching issues and adding great content to the game.
Content that has all been free to keep this brilliantly wacky community all playing with the same game.
Thank You ‘Ghost Ship Games’

Your job is simple:
As 1 of 4 classes of space dwelling Dwarfs you are hired by the mining company ‘Deep Rock Galactic’ to retrieve minerals and other items of interest from a planetoid called Hoxxes IV, which is home to some very interesting wildlife, including some ‘Bugs’ that are not too friendly.
So be prepared to defend yourself and your fellow Dwarfs.

The Dwarfs:
4 different classes that all bring something a little different to the mission, with class specific weapons, grenades & most importantly, Terrain Traversing Tools.
🔸 The Gunner: Pretty self explanatory, with really big guns he’s your front line killer.
🔹 The Driller: Area of Effect weapons & a great pathforger through the destructible terrain.
🔸 The Scout: A lightweight, accurate, get anywhere miner.
🔹 The Engineer: A support role with mixed weapons & turrets for securing the cave.

⭐Each class is viable and great to play as, but when paired with others, especially a diverse team of all 4 the Co-op element shines through as they become a whole greater than the sum of their parts.

The Missions:
🔸 8 Types. Simple mining, Driller (Doretta) Escort, On-Site Refining, Eliminations...
🔹 10 Biomes. Vastly different areas where all the mission types can be played.
🔸 5 Difficulty levels. Offering harder enemies and greater reward % bonus on your haul.
🔹 3 Complexity. How hard the mine is to traverse.
🔸 3 Lengths. How big the mine is and/or how many minerals you will need to collect.
🔹 11 ‘Warning’ mutators. Low Oxygen, Mactera Plage, Regenerative Bugs…
🔸 8 ‘Anomalies’ mutators. Double XP, Gold Rush, Low Gravity, Mineral Mania…
🔹 Various event (not a constant or requirement). Rewards; Exp, Gold, Infused Cores.

Hoxxes:
There are ‘currently’ 10 very different Biomes in Hoxxes IV from the;
🔸 ‘Sandblaster Corridors’ where high speed winds can blow you around and sandstorms and oblitarate your viewing distance.
🔹 The ‘Magma Core’ where vents of superheated fire can burn you, where damaged terrain can expose red hot material that will burn you and earthquakes can expose large tears in the floor that can, guess what Burn You! ’Hot feet!’
🔸 The recently added ‘Hollow Bough’ that is alive with thorny plants, and even sentient ones that will lunge for you! (No one ever said this job was easy!)
🔹 But if this all gets too much there is always ‘safer’ location like the Beautiful 'Crystalline Caverns’ where you could get electrocuted, or the ‘Glacial Strata’ where you could be frozen in place or maybe, just maybe the ‘Azure Weald’ where there is an abundance of roaming non-hostile life and beautiful bioluminescent foliage.
“This place is almost nice compared to last time”

⭐This variation in environments along with the Complexity, Length, Mission Types, Good/Bad mutators all thrown in the mix of the Procedurally Generated maps creates vast variation that staves of the DaJa Vu feeling that all PvE games fall victim to eventually
(DRG is not immune, it just takes longer than most)

All the Little Things:
What's above is a brief (very brief) overview of a great game, but what makes DRG stand out are all little things that build a world of detail on top.
🔸 Saluting! Raising your PIckaxe and letting out 1 a dozen battle cries. ’Rock and Stone!’
🔹 Beard Physics. (Enough Said?)
🔸 Slapping the red fluffy Dice in the Drop Pod. (Now somewhat of a good luck ritual)
🔹 Seasonal Events. (Oktoberfest, Halloween, Christmas/Yuletide, DRG Anniversary)

Whilst on a Mission
🔸 The destructible terrain. Cut out a path/shortcut, create a sheltered area from ranged enemies, Defendable bunkers (with risks) whatever you want.
(Just remember that if nothing holds it up it will fall! This ain't Mincraft, Gravity works here)
🔹 The automatic/action driven callouts following, well almost everything. ’Were Rich’
🔸 Being able to pet friendly wildlife, and the funny Steeve related comments that come with it.
🔹 The Callout & relationship between the Dwarfs, Bosco, Molly, Dorretor or the Drop Pod.
🔸 The more unique hostiles that can cause chaos/hilarious scenarios.
🔹 Finding those rare mineral nuggets, including that one we have no idea what to do with!?
🔸 The sheer beauty of some of the Biomes. ’Urg, I sound like a damn Leaf Lover’
🔹 The numerous bisar things found in some Biomes. Like wall growths with eyes!?
🔸 The fact DRG WILL leave you down there if you don't make it to the Drop Pod in time!

Whilst in the Space Rig
🔸 The Bar, with drinks for fun or the rotating special that gives you a boost in mission.
🔹 A barrel kicking minigame.
🔸 A Jukebox, with dance floor (that you will dance on, badly)
🔹 An oversized Football and 2 goals that can be placed around the station. (To burn time)
🔸 Mineral trade markets with daily offers. For relieving you of too many Minerals or Gold.
🔹 The Forge! Where you can take blank cores and make unique Weapon upgrades.
🔸 Season unlock Tree. Cos you can never have too many cosmetics, victory moves or Gold!
🔹 The Assignments. Weekly core/mineral hunts, promotion qualifications, new weapon/armour unlocks.
🔸 The Miner Manual. (An in game How to / Wiki)
From the basics of gameplay, Information on Mission types, Perks, Upgrades, known history of Hoxxes IV, Lore for Weapons, Equipment, Enemies…

⭐It's hard to describe, but all the above and other little things act like QoL improvements but for the soul!
They have no need to be in the game to allow it to function but make it all a better place to be, with a depth to the game rarely seen.

The best example of this is Dorettor, which like all other robots has an AI personality.
She originally used to get left behind when the mission was done, but the community felt so bad for her that the developers added the capability for us to take her head with us.
We get no reward, it’s just another level of comradery.
This is the DRG Community. ’Leave no Dwarf Behind’, she is an honorary Dwarf now.

The Cosmetics:
The ridiculous amount to unlock, forge or buy (with in-game gold/minerals you mine);
🔸Hats, 🔹Beards, 🔸Eyebrows, 🔹Moustache’s, 🔸Armour styles & colours, 🔹Skin & Hair colours, 🔸Victory Moves, 🔹Weapon styles & colours, 🔸Pickaxe parts & colours, 🔹Bosco skins & colours…

Promotions, and the unlocking of yet another level of game
🔸 Deep Dives, Matrix Cores and the Forge to turn Infused Cores (from Deep Dives, Events, Assignments) into the Cosmetic or Overclock.
🔹 Deep Dives. 3 consecutive mission with 2 main mission objectives each stage that need to be played consecutively. Keeping all minerals, ammo, health (or lack of) from one to the other. A way to get blank Matrix Cores and ready to forge Infused Cores (Overlocks, Cosmetics…)

⭐ There is always something you can do. The basic grind for Exp & Gold, getting the Minerals for that 100+ cosmetic, getting drunk and doing a mission, completing Assignments for Weapons, Minerals, Matrix cores & more, beating others weekly Deep Dive times.
But mostly, because it's Fun!

Deep Rock Galactic is a Masterpiece
They created an amazing game, with a brilliant concept that has been polished to a glint. They have added to it multiple times without sacrificing what the game is or the Dwarf lifestyle they have built up that creates this weird and wonderful community I am proud to belong to.
