Early Access Review
===Spoiler Free===
If you do buy the game, and have managed to avoid spoilers from reviews, I would highly reccomend that you do not google aspects of the game as you play, unless you get really stuck. This game is also a lot of fun with friends - I spent my first 50 or so hours playing with somebody else - but it's still very fun to play solo (about 100ish hours of solo play as of writing) too, so if you don't have friends with the game or if you don't have friends

So. Lets talk about that gameplay:

  • Combat: Pretty easy to learn, and is generally just about timing your swings to hit the bad guys, while avoiding getting hit yourself. PvP exists and the small amount I did was fun, but I wouldn't reccomend it due to the

  • Difficulty: This game is hard. I died literal minutes before writing this review, but every death feels like a simultaneous learning experience, and[/a] adventure. Everything will kill you. Your inventory drops (and is protected) when you die, so if you died in a very dangerous place? Bye Bye gear. I've had corpse runs stretch into real life hours - but thats the charm of the game. If this doesn't sound too great to you, I'd reccomend still trying the game, but try to focus on the

  • Building: This is my guilty pleasure, and where most of my hours are focused. Valheim does base building incredibly well in my opinion, and its very satisfying to have a base come together. Despite what people will tell you - you can play this game at a very relaxed pace. I've often come on and just played for a few hours wandering around my base, and doing some occasional farming to relax and unwind.

  • Graphics & Content: My final point (because this is already very long, and if you read it all, I think you're a great person with a disturbing amount of free time). This game is compact, its graphics look quaint, and I won't even give them their own point because you can see the ps2 era style this game oozes. Its compressed in a similar way to Krieger - and so too is its gameplay compressed into bite sized chunks that expand, and sooner then you realise you'll be taking 2 hour mining trips in a viking survivial game. I still have not finished the game (in terms of its current amount of bosses) with 167 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours. You can do the math on cost per hour, but in my biased opinion, this is some good ♥♥♥♥.
