Ukrainian Developer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Video Game Killed Near Bakhmut. Volodymyr Yezhov was killed defending the city of Bakhmut in Ukraine's Donetsk region on December 22. He was one of the developers behind the successful video game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, which was released in 2008. One of the game's characters, Loki, was based on Yezhov's face.

Volodymyr Yezhov was born on August 1, 1984 in Lubny, Poltava Oblast. He graduated from KPI with a degree in electronics engineering. He was also one of the most famous Ukrainian e-sportsmen — played StarCraft under the nickname Fresh. In 2003, he joined the GSC Game World company, which was the developer of such cult games as Cossacks and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

He was also involved in the creation of several RTS games: Alexander (2004), Cossacks 2 (2005) and Heroes of Annihilated Empires (2006) and World of Battles: Morningstar, Call of Cthulhu, and Sherlock Holmes: Devil’s Daughter.

Viacheslav Yezhov, brother of Volodymyr, on Facebook:
"Today, my brother, a father of two, a faithful friend with a sincere heart, died defending Ukraine. He used to say that a happy future for our children is being forged through the fight that the Ukrainian people are currently waging. I hope you have arrived at a better world, brother," Viacheslav Yezhov posted.

The fact that he is the face leader of the Freedom faction in game makes this hurt even more, in the end he really died fighting for the freedom of his country.
